  • Cryotherapy can be performed in several ways. You can stand in a whole-body cryotherapy chamber, like you have here, and be exposed to temperatures close to −200 degrees Fahrenheit for up to three minutes. You can use an ice bath or some other form of cold-water immersion. You could take cold showers once or twice a day. Or you could apply ice packs to your body.
Cryotherapy appears to have beneficial effects on immune function. It also has been shown to reduce inflammation throughout the body, which is a common underlying factor in osteoarthritis and other chronic conditions and the aging process generally.
From a musculoskeletal standpoint, cryotherapy has been used by elite athletes for years to reduce muscle damage and soreness and speed recovery after intense training. Research has also shown it to improve sleep quality in active people, potentially aiding recovery from workouts and acute or chronic injuries.
