I'll have to disagree. I feel like you're looking at this event as an adult, but you have to look at it as a child. Nickelodeon made the sport that some find watching with their family boring actually fun. I would remember it as "no way, SpongeBob is in real life commentating" rather than "no way, this team is winning".

What they did was that the people controlling SpongeBob and Patrick were using (iirc) iPhone 11’s being held in front of their faces (by wearing helmets attached to the phones that held them up). The faces were scanned by those iPhones to register and make the facial expressions. It was from the behind-the-scenes I think

It’s sad to that’s how people think of Nickelodeon now because the reason they got so big before Viacom fucked it all up is *because* they took risks. Everyone said that there couldn’t be a network targeted at just children, or live actions shows, news shows, and game shows that are for kids. Fuck, their biggest cash cow SpongeBob was a huge risk due to how weird it was when it was pitched. Current Nickelodeon would never approve SpongeBob which makes it’s over reliance on the IP kinda funny in a sad way

No, Nick didn't pay $2 Billion to air the Super Bowl. Nick's Parent company, Viacom, already had the rights to air the Super Bowl on CBS and Paramount Plus, and probably still had to pay a lot more just to air on Nickelodeon, and also for the production and legalities for the weird SpongeBob-themed overlay. (Surely not $2 Billion based on how those SpongeBob 3-d models look) I have no idea why he got that $2 Billion figure by using costs to run an ad during the game, that's obviously wrong.

For those who did not know The Spongebob fanbase petitioned to the NFL to have Spongebobs rendition of "Sweet victory" played during the Halftime show as a Tribute to Stephen Hillenburg who passed away that year and the NFL agreed to do it but instead used it as an intro part of the Clip for Travis scott which upset alot of people. So i Guess this is to make up for it who knows maybe if your Younger it would be enjoyable but i didn't quite like it and the CGI looks like something out of the 2000's

As an adult and someone who _never_ watches sports---let alone the Superbowl---the fact that Spongebob and Patrick got me to actually sit down and watch _this_ year's speaks VOLUMES.

Im a 24 year old and it made me tear up, because Stephen Hillenberg put a shitload of work into spongebob and he died before being able to see Victory played at the actual superbowl.

The Spongebob characters should've been in 2D in like Who Framed Roger Rabbit and not Vtuber motion capture. They do that in the Kids Choice Awards all the time.

I actually liked that the voice actors where moving the characters even with it being abit janky I feel like you were too harsh. Overall it was a goofy time and was perfect for kids I don’t think their intended audience was adults

I watched this live, this was the most fun a Super Bowl has ever been, like it was just silly, it was a great time. I hope Nickelodeon didn’t lose their pants on this, because there’s really a lot of great things about this, it really made me smile. Look how much assets they had ready to run on the field, and utilize, they had so many gags lineup, this was a really well thought out full experience, and sure it could’ve been a little bit more technically impressive, but damn was it fun.

I watched part of this and part of a playoff game that was the Toy Story/ Andy’s room broadcast with my little cousin. Kids seem to really like these types of broadcast.

I used to play football in highschool, I love watching the superbowl, I watched the Nickelodeon broadcast and it was the best super bowl I ever watched, so funny and I never noticed the eyelid things and whatnot, but I do agree that spongebob and patrick should have had some lines rehearsed for when touchdowns, interceptions, first downs, kicks, etc. I think they should have rehearsed with a previous superbowl off the air to get a feel for how it's going to turn out. The best part was when they fumbled and Patrick said, "Firmly Grasp it!" more references like that would be great, also My leg guy should play when the qb gets sacked. Mr. Krabs could run a stand selling krabby patties. Larry on the field was so funny. Sandy explaining the game was great too for the kids that don't understand football.

I actually liked the Nickelodeon broadcast and found myself watching it for the majority of the second half. The commentary was arguably more entertaining, they still got the commercials, and the broadcast was shockingly a whole minute ahead of CBS’s.
