  • Band Aid was a charity supergroup featuring British and Irish musicians and recording artists founded in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise money for anti-famine efforts in Ethiopia by releasing the song "Do They Know It's Christmas?". On 25 November 1984, the song was recorded at Sarm West Studios in Notting Hill, London, and was released in the UK on Monday 3 December.

    The song that started all those benefit records like:
    1."We are the world" (USA for Africa"),
    2. "Sun City" (Artists United Against Apartheid),
    3. "We're Stars" (Hear 'n Aid"),
    4. "Hands across America" (Voices of America),
    5. "Self Destruction" (The Stop the Violence Movement).
    That's all I can think of.
