It had taken years for you to see the truth. Or, more specifically, to see that there was no Truth. Not like they believed there was, anyway. There wasn’t one objective standard of reality. Not like you thought. You weren’t ‘right’. You didn’t hold the key to salvation.
It was a hard come to terms with it. Everything you knew, everything you’d been taught… all lies. But not really lies. Is it really a lie if the teller believes it so firmly?
Leaving had cost you everything. You were outcast from your family, your friends. Everyone looked at you and instead of seeing who you really were, they only thing they saw was a prodigal child.
Still, you wouldn’t go back for anything. You were free now. Free to be yourself. Free to make your own decisions without fear of eternal damnation. Free from a manipulative church, a manipulative god.

As person who goes to church the truth is that the church itself is not the problem, is the people are that preach the wrong thing, hurt people and deliver the wrong massage. Sometimes even abuse the power of authority. Which is very real and it can happen
I have a never experianced what you have, and i hope you dont any further. I am lucky to go a church that is very accepting. I hope you find one too In your own volition.

Damn, for me an atheist living in an atheist country it's really strange that your friends and your family could abandon you for something like religion in this century...But it seems that this is reality, a rather stupid reality in my opinion. I just hope that everyone who has gone through this finds peace and happiness. Have a good day
