Sad commentary on our times when slanderous, profanity-laced rap songs are admired by tens of million of our young people and masterpieces such as this beautiful, haunting rendition are relegated to a few hundred views. As a 20-year Air Force veteran my heart cries out for more top-quality people from this generation to step up and pay honor to this great country that provides succor and shelter to so many and safety from the medieval-minded tyrants who would see our way of life upended. Bless Sailor Jerry and the Letters From Home Troupe, they are truly some of America's finest.

This makes me anxious for the day that I might have to see my friends off or be seen off myself, by my family. But it also fills me with a terrible fear. I don’t think I could handle seeing my friends off......not with knowing that I might never see them again in this life time. I absolutely dread the day that we are dragged into a full out war again. 💔😣😰😱😢

Erin, that was a lovely song and the setting provided just the right amount of visual effects to round out the song. I think you're an accomplished singer and dancer and would love to see you in action. The only problem is...I live in Oregon and you do most of your performing from the Midwest to the East Coast. I am a 100% service-connected serviceman so I don't make a lot of money. So I guess I'll have to settle for your videos to appease my appetite for excellent music. Blessings on you and your husband. I'm the wife of a post-9/11 combat veteran who has suffered from PTSD since he left Iraq in 2008. He was a convoy driver and he saw and experienced a lot of bad stuff. We met in 2012 and the first night that I spent at his house he heard a noise downstairs and grabbed a pistol to clear the house. I have seen him in tears because he doesn't understand why his battle buddy died in what he calls a pointless war.
He retired from the Air Force in 2018 and he has failed to adapt to civilian life. He has been through multiple jobs that have failed because he couldn't adapt to the civilian workforce. He recently was medically retired from a department of defense civilian job because his anger issues prevented him from getting along with supervisors.
The only thing that makes him happy anymore is his current service as a volunteer firefighter. He literally runs for the door as soon as the tones drop on his duty radio. I wish that there was something that I could do to help him with his PTSD but 10 years in nothing has helped.
Wish I could say something that would help. I had problems too. Still do. But overtime my problems have turned into pride. No matter what is thought of veterans, however we’re dismissed or ignored or disparaged, everyday Americans get up and live in freedom because of our service. HIS service. Never give up on him. He should never give up on himself.

You are. From all the other veterans. Those who didn’t serve? No, not much. They either want to ignore it or dismiss it. How could they understand us? When I came home my friends seemed like a bunch of children. My family, they treated me like some kinda alien creature, half afraid, half distant. They could barely speak to me.
But we have each other. Veterans admire, respect each other, whatever the branch, the job, the distance. We know how we sacrificed so they could be free. And be proud of yourself. You risk your life and limb for this country and that’s makes you a better, braver, stronger person than those who stayed home could even dream of being.
