Thank you. Feeding is #1 in making them tame, the less they get the more tame they are and then you adjust accordingly. It helps to select for more tame birds by genetics - some of them are wild no matter what you do. I also spend time with them when feeding, as you can see in my loft setup, the feeding trays are close to my hands and they eat near me their entire life starting from the newly weaned youngsters stage. I really enjoy watching your birds fly. I also like the way you interact with them. Another thing I appreciate; is your appreciation of nature. Though you view birds prey as menacing; you accept their place in nature and even as a benefit to your flock of birds. Those that survive the attacks, becomes smarter and are of the strongest birds of your loft. Thus overall, this interaction, between predator and prey, serves to improve the quality of your birds. When I had birds, I didn't consider birds of prey as a benefit to my loft. I will also like to know if you practice culling in your loft ? I don't think it's necessary. However, I know some will argue differently or even be indifferent. Thank you and take care.
Love these comments. I am glad you enjoy the videos. You are right about nature, and I like nature first, then pigeons as a part of it. Racing them is just a bonus, not going crazy about squeezing maximum race performance out of them. I only cull sick pigeons (after I treat them) to avoid weaklings keeping sickness in the loft. By culling I mean I give them to a friend to release them far away so they live with the ferals. I only get to cull some of these, the others are taken by the birds of prey. Since most of the culls are young, they don't come back and if they do, they deserve to stay. I have one that I wanted to cull at a very young age, it was just learning to fly around the loft and I sent him to 100 Km directly. Got back the next day (rainy day)... two years later he was a club champion. But these are rare cases. I don't cull based on race performance, I just keep sending them to all the races. I have some 4 year olds that rarely got a prize and most fanciers would cull them, but I just keep them and send them to races over and over again, they completed many 900 and 1000 km races. I just can't cull such birds, and even if I wanted, with my method, they would come back. lol

Haha, I know that kind of wild birds, I hate them and got rid of them, they are also bad racers most of the time especially in hard long distance races. Many of my birds now are so calm I have to be careful not to step on them inside the loft.
