Probably once in my minds eye I see it as; when it was to be used there was stuff stacked up against the wall in the way. So the stuff was moved, the table taken down, and the stuff put back. Then with the stuff in the way, the table wasn’t put back and shelves went up to hold the stuff and the table gets pushed up near the wall. At least that’s how it would work out for me😂
My husband built this for us and it has totally transformed my workflow for the better. Plus it’s in our personal garage and we fold ‘er up and put it away when we don’t use it. Perfection.

Just make a smaller version...his is very bulky...could do something far more minimal and to suit size of a space. Basically a fold up table that is stored against a vertical surface..
Seems like we all have a common issue. I have all my tools under basement stairs. About 1’ width of space to walk and 3’ long. 8” shelf for a bench. Small patio but have to take everything up and outside to work. Struggle bus.
I tried to get my bro to build me one of these 37 years ago. I was in a studio apartment and had no room for a dining table. He said I was ridiculous and wouldn't build it. That my idea was impractical. What I had designed was maybe half this size, length, and width. Makes my heart happy to see you build this great work space. Unlimited possibilities. 😊
There is a good reason why more people don't have one. I built a bird house one day. The birds didn't use it because they knew better. Respect for carpenters, excellent work.
Me too, I built a house for Copper my Beagle dog. Here on Long Island. The yard it's got a decent size.....+ we love Copper. However it's been over 5 yrs....& she never visit her house. 😢

The 2x4 brace just sat on top seems like a fall hazard. Maybe some rare earth magnets to secure it without the addition of mechanical straps or a lip/routed slot.

@@jefferyshall That wasn’t my point at all. Not close. It’s a 1 minute video. It’s so efficient, I don’t need to sketch plans. Every detail can be seen - in under a minute. Maybe you don’t have experience teaching. Try it. You’ll find it’s easy to tell people what to do. It’s rare they can then go do it. Good teachers know how to hit necessary points. What they leave out is as important as what is featured.
I did something similar, but mine was attached to the wall by hinges. The legs were on hinges too,so when you lift it up they fold down on their own. The only issue was that it collected a lot of crap and never got folded up.
After I watched this I used this idea to get my motorcycle lift out of the middle of my garage. Same concept. I lower it all the way down, roll it against the wall, and hinge it against the wall. It is supported, and hinges on top of a few 4x4 posts about 8" high. Its about 300 lbs or so, so it takes a bit to hinge it up, but once its up I use a few wood screws with fender washers on them and screw them through pre-existing holes that are in the deck of the lift. Works like a charm. I have a fold down work table on that same wall that folds down and hides the motorcycle lift. Thanks for the idea! 🍻

For a moment I thought he was the soul inventor of the foldaway table, but then I remembered,……………..😂😂 I myself am working on a homemade(wood craft)project, it’s a magazine type toilet paper dispenser roll spool thingy! You can load it with 10 rolls of 2ply and never have to change out the roll dispenser for, well, however 10 rolls last a particular household. The only problem, it’s like having a mini refrigerator mounted to the wall beside your commode!😂😂

Nice build, I made something simmilar some years ago, but I made mine so it folded downward, enabling me to utilise the wall space above it, at all times.
I just take mine apart and reassemble it when I need it. I keep all the screws in a plastic bag so it's extremely simple. Follow me for more practical tips.

sadly , the "old world" techniques are being lost and not many still have those skills in today's modern era of glue and screws. I've got a a jewelry box my late grandfather made before I was born for my mom when she was still very young. there's not a single nail, screw or glue in the entire thing. all just joints that very carefully interlock into each other. I would love to know how he did it. but he's sadly not with us.
I have something similar made with aluminum and 8mm Alucobond sheet, Mine is fixed with hinges against the wall and 2 legs on the opposite. it's half the size of a ply sheet and weigh less than 15kg

Plus, I then get on YT late at night when I should be sleeping & waste (well sort of waste) 2 hrs looking at short clips...lol. But LOVE your table!!!!! ❤

There's two problems with this. Problem 1: It will always be cluttered with junk, so you won't be able to readily fold it up as intended. Problem 2: In the rare event that you DO clean it off and fold it up - the area it would occupy when unfolded will fill up with clutter and then you won't have room to unfold it and use it. Nice try though.
Man I guarantee you work or have worked in a shop, because over the years when you always run out of work bench space and build another one, it never fails to happen that no matter how many workbenches you have they always become junk collectors. I had a boss that loved me and my work. I could do no wrong with him. But when I said I wanted to build a workbench, he said John clean anyone of the benches you want to and you can have it. They are nothing but junk collectors, pretty soon you won’t be able to move around in here with another one. He was so right.
Like lanes in an LA freeway. Everybody thinks a fold-up workbench is a great idea so videos like this do really well. In reality, better workflow and easy-access storage shelves are the only way to "make more space". Been here done that.
I was just telling my boss today that I need more space in my workshop. This will be perfect. I already have a movable bench on flip down casters like these, I think I will take it apart and rebuild it more like this!

Great build. But….my ocd went in overdrive when you didn’t line up the grain pattern of your plugs.
I like leaving exposed screws, that way I can take it apart if/when needed.
Funny, I like leaving exposed screws so when I walk to close it jabs me in the arm and tears my shirt.

I have had mine for 2 years and that hasn't been a problem. I like the idea of latch bolts...I have two 2x4 that rotate to hold table up.
Problem 3: Modifying it will be difficult since the screws are hidden.

I recommend painting that removable cross bar, some color that will remind you it's not stock or scrap wood.
I built a similar table for the laundry room. But this is much nicer.
