This just proves that Russia is only an ally in terms of military trade today, India is not only so strong today that it does not needs direct military assistance from a foreign power, but also it can help a foreign power with a direct military intervention.
India should still see Russia as a friend, because it is a fact that India badly needs Russian military equipment, but in no way should it expect any assistance from it when it comes to countering China.
India is, and should remain self reliant to fight it's wars. Russia will be continue to do stuff like this under Chinese pressure, and America and the NATO will continue to pressurise India into leaving Russia, but falling under one of their's pressure will be India's one of the biggest mistakes, because it ultimately alignment that leads to conflicts.
Even military equipment cannot be produced by itself. How can such a junk country win the war? One Pakistan is enough to contain India. Pakistan is so much better than Ukraine that it can consume India for at least a decade. The Chinese despise India at all.
