I must say I found a treasure. Not only is this information very well presented but it's a pleasure to listen to you. I really enjoy the clarity and accuracy of your explanations, I'm starting a grade in english and spanish linguistics so this is most helpful. Thanks very much and congratulatios for the great job.
I am a fan of Prof Heycock. I remembered that I asked her via email about some English constructions relevant to perfect tense and she responded to me very quickly. Thank you so much for the clarity and your eagerness !!
Some think that this a simple topic which I see it’s the cornerstone in learning sentence structure . I’m really impressed by the way you’re presenting it.
This is an amazing material. Greetings from Spain
Many thanks.
04:25 So what IS the correct question asking whether the boy IS actually holding the plate or not?
Fantastic :)
What is the meaning or speciality of Generative here? Is it only about the tree diagram that we call it generative?
Loads of thanks , this was truly helpful . I'm an MA student of Linguistics and I found it easy .Can you go deeper within Ellipses sometime, please?
Does this mean constituents can’t overlap?
They can nest one inside another, so they sure can overlap (the nested one overlaps some part of the sentence that its outer context covers already).
But sibling constituents (that is, at the same level of nesting) don't overlap. (That's what makes them siblings after all.)
Can you advice me a certain book to grap all easily in Syntax? is Radford's fair enough . Chomsky is my creepy hell
"Chomsky is my creepy hell"
Amazing.
Areej younes now _that_ is some generative syntax!!
lol yes couldn't get a word of his theories!
