After a long wait, the U.K mainland finally get the chance to watch Oasis live. Jools Holland was seen by a couple hundred competition winners, but tonight the general public get their chance. And where better to start than Bolton. “Or should I say Manchester?” shouts Liam at the beginning of the gig. Bolton is one of the cities in the Greater Manchester area but Manchester itself would have to wait for now. Two sold-out nights in the 40,000 capacity Reebok Stadium, it’s a welcome return, especially with Noel back once again. With less than a week until two nights at Wembley Stadium, these gigs were the last attempts of warming up, as both of those shows were to be filmed with the second night being the planned release for a live album and DVD entitled ‘Familiar to Millions’ (nothing wrong to happen there then!).
This is the first night, and there are a few issues throughout. Firstly, early on in the show several attendees are getting knocked down by the excited audience, and Noel politely asks to help them up. Next, as Shakermaker finishes one of the most famous Oasis live moments happens, which involves a kid climbing the speakers. At the end of Roll With It, Liam’s has an issue with his microphone, but after that the rest of the show goes on without issues. The band let none of this hamper their mood though and still put on a good show, and if you’re familiar with the Wembley gigs, the performance is quite similar minus the difficulties (and Noel pulling out an interesting solo on Live Forever). Noel also brings back his first solo break in between Acquiesce and Gas Panic, after curiously not playing anything in that spot in Dublin a week prior. Tonight instead of one of the new tunes, he instead adds in Step Out, surprisingly it’s first ever performance. I know a lot of people love this song, but I always wished he could’ve done one of his two lead songs on the Giants album instead especially Sunday Morning Call, as that was their current single and was already rehearsed (it probably would have stayed in the set had Noel not left mid-tour). Unfortunately the band have to abort Step Out, as the guitars aren’t in tune but after this short hiccup, the performance is done perfectly. Last moment which is one of my favourites of the night, is Liam and Noel both announcing “Live Forever!” at the same time, which is sadly overlooked.

4 tunes in and im loving it
Great picture of a young Andy Bell. Not one of there best shows here but still always good to hear. Definitely doesn’t seem to have that energy from the band but I know it’s hard to tell with listening to it for the first time & we all know what happened a week later at Wembley Stadium! 🙈👍✌️👍
Great way of putting this performance. The tour was a bit of an inconsistent one energy wise for sure.
@@Shakermaker94 Yeah bro & I saw them later that month on the 29th of July Murrayfield. The band were really good energy wise & Liam puts on a very decent performance and no odd moods or any weird stuff getting shouted out. The day was lovely & sunny (unusual for Scotland even in July) They were absolutely on it that night (with the Happy Mondays & Doves as support) it’s on CZcams somewhere maybe even you have it up somewhere as I’ve listened to it back and it is a good gig for that time inside huge outdoor stadiums & all the drama as always but especially during this time with the Wembley issue the new lineup & the backlash from the critics about the SOTSOG album. (Which I Love by The Way) few dodgy tracks but still great stuff. Massive Respect Due To You. ✌️
Nice putting Andy in the thumbnail
Nice thumbnail!
My hometown
Was there myself, was a messy day
