Kicking this off a lot sooner than I imagine you all thought! I thought I'd start nice and slow so here is the Oasis performance from when the band performed a session for The Evening Session with Steve Lamacq. I've removed all the DJ chatter from this so it's just the songs.
The session was performed on the 20th of January but wasn't broadcasted until the 7th of February, where it would then also be broadcasted on the 8th, 9th and 10th. This is the first time and only time we would hear Talk Tonight performed on an electric guitar, and it's the first time the majority of the UK heard the new "Oasis Mk II" with Andy Bell and Gem Archer.
We would also hear My Generation performed by the band for the first time here, this is due to a vote performed on the 17th of January during an acoustic performance with Gem and Noel where the listeners had to choose from five songs with My Generation coming out as the winner and then being performed by the band for the next 6 years. If you feel like this version of the song is familiar, it was also released as the B-Side to She Is Love / Little by Little in 2002.
For those wondering, the five songs that were shortlisted were:
The Who - My Generation
Blur - Country House
The Rolling Stones - Sympathy For The Devil
Nirvana - Come As You Are
Robbie Williams - Angels
This performance is great though, Liam and the band are in fine form and sound fresh as they're still coming back off a 2 year hiatus since the Be Here Now tour. I especially love Rock 'n' Roll Star from this performance, probably even better than some of the earlier performed versions.
Setlist:
00:00 - Sunday Morning Call
05:14 - Rock 'n' Roll Star (first performance since 1995)
11:14 - Who Feels Love?
16:38 - Talk Tonight (only time ever played electric)
21:33 - My Generation (first time ever) - Hudba
Rock ‘n’ Roll Star sounds amazing!!! This was Liam’s perfect vocals
Each tune there is incredible live rendition
Sunday morning call sounds so good
WOW…this era of Oasis. I was a teenager back then and loving life, without a care in the world.
Thank you for taking the time to upload for others to enjoy 🙏🏻
Possibly the ultimate performance of Rock n Roll star!!
Best live version of Who Feels love ever!!
And R&R would never leave a setlist ever again.
2002
@@TSOTL-0302Yes, but only at a couple of pre-tour shows. It was dropped when they started the HC tour and wasn’t played again until 2004.
@@helterskelter1980It was played during 2003
Never been a big fan of Sunday morning call but surprised they never played it live, seems like they had it on point here
Glad I found this. Sunday morning call never sounded this good, great vocals by Noel.
First and best my generation from them
Oh it's special, indeed.
One of ver very best sessions ever,.from them.
My very fav, personaly.
pic is rather from Heathen Chemistry 2002 era.
was hoping nobody would notice the picture hahah I just liked how it looked after I had the photoshop ai expand the background
@@VenetikOasis You made it look good mate. Perhaps Liam jacket is the one from Wembley 2000 and on.
As far as I know, the manufacturer of it is Wrangler. He customized it obviously.
Godlike RnR star performance
fantastic upload and a really great session would be curious to know if any photos or video was taken at this radio gig ? if anyone has any please upload :)
Cant imagine oasis covering nivarna or even blur
Country House would've been so weird
@@fshoaps with liams 2000 rasp
@@mrfarenheit26Come as your are would’ve sounded biblical.
Wtf? Oasis is too much bigger for do it that
this was when they pretended there was a phone vote to do a cover and my generation got ‘picked’. it was already agreed and rehearsed
Both Gallaghers sounded electric
At this gig, he has the perfect power. But at yokohama, his tone is better. Like, he hits rnr star pretty easily, but that's down to where they were on the set list.
should have got Liam to do talk tonight.
There’s an ai version of this version of talk tonight with “Liam” on vocals… it’s fucking mega 👍
That vote seemed rigged. No way in hell would they have performed anything by Robbie Williams or Blur, and that Rolling Stones tune isn’t their typical style. The Nirvana song would probably suit them, but I don’t think Noel is particularly fond of the group so the only obvious choice here would be… My Generation.
it was. A Q magazine article a while later revealed that yes it was in fact boloocks.
