    I actually never got the sense that the Black Widow/Hulk scene was saying sterility was monstrous. She'd just explained that she'd allowed this to happen IN ORDER to become a better killer, that she'd done this for the Red Room, which was an organization that kidnapped little girls and put them through torture training to condition them. She feels like a monster not because she doesn't have children or can't, but that she chosen to allow evil people to control her body and her choices and her future that completely.
    I don't think she's right, but I understand where she's coming from in the scene, and it makes sense with the character now that she's reformed and is very bitter about what was done to her without any meaningful consent (due to the childhood brainwashing). And now, she seems to have regrets and anger about it. (Women should not be shamed for not wanting children, but also should not be shamed for wanting them.) She turns that bitter anger inward--which is a mistake on her part, but a pretty common one--and thinks it makes her monstrous instead of making the people who did it monstrous.

    • @GabeR115
      @GabeR115 Před rokem +26

      I think this is the true interpretation and the only one that really makes sense. She did not know then that she would ever want a family, her only goal was to impress and become a more efficient assassin. It’s only now that she’s grown and matured that she’s realized what she did then prevents her from having what she wants now and she’s mad at herself for wanting to be a better assassin so badly that she made that sacrifice. I think her inwards anger is directed at her misguided goals when she was younger, and blames herself for not knowing the person she would turn out to be in the future. This is something like 99% of all human beings struggle with in at least some way in their lives

    • @MerelvandenHurk
      @MerelvandenHurk Před rokem +5

      I agree, but I also think they maybe could've thought just two seconds longer about that juxtaposition just to prevent it from coming across like she was implying that being sterile was monstrous. My guess is that there were a few lines in between those two things that got cut (because I don't believe it was written with the implication sterility being monstrous) and they just didn't notice the message it was unintentionally sending. I personally also didn't get the sense that she was saying sterility was monstrous, not even in-universe (since characters are allowed to have opinions the movie makers don't agree with, of course), but I also believe the people who did interpret it that way and found it hurtful. The fact that that happened, even if no one on the film's team intended it, is enough proof that the interpretation really wasn't so farfetched. I reckon it's more likely to hurt people for whom infertility is a theme in their lives, and if that hasn't been a theme in the lives of the people who were in charge of that juxtaposition, or if no one on that team was aware enough of how painful infertility can be for some people, I can't necessarily fault them for not realizing it.

    • @JenniferKokoski
      @JenniferKokoski Před rokem +4

      Oh let's face it, people who think infertility or even the mention of it is an insult to them are obsessing over infertility. Just seeing a baby on the screen would be offensive to them. This is why you cannot live your life according to the obstacles in it. You live your life despite the obstacles. There was absolutely nothing wrong with that scene. It's just black widow explaining why she can't have a family because she chose to be an assassin. But she desperately wants to be more than just an assassin. Hell in that scene you don't even think she wants to be an avenger. Instead she would rather run away with the guy she's falling in love with and live a quiet life.

There will be either no sound, or white noise (which would be sinned) during these 90 minutes + 3 frames. 'Fans': Black widow will just reload, dumbass.
    Unless BW can shit an unlimited supply of bullets on command, her ammo is finite. Mags don't spontaneously fill with bullets when out of sight. If she's carrying 5 mag with 17 rounds each plus one in the gun that's 102 bullets between 6 mags. If she fires every shot then just like Hawkeye she'd be out of ammo. Besides if Hawkeye ran out of arrows before Black widow ran out of bullets she'd just toss him a gun and he'd start shooting.

      I mean to be fair we see a close up of his quiver and we can see it can only hold like 12 arrows at least in the first avengers, and while bullets are limited, particularly when fighting human henchmen, it's pretty convenient to get more compared to digging an arrow out of a body and a wall

    This is a nitpick but in addition to misusing the phrase "Deus Ex Machina" Jeremy also shortens it to "Ex Machina" but "Deus" is like. a pretty important part of the phrase.

    The shade things at night or in a building can also be due to light sensitivity. When I'm really tired, my eye sight gets so bad ghat my light sensitivity dials up to an 11. I was in a hospital once and the lights were so bright I had to squint the entire time

    I’d just thought that thanks being so damn powerful, it took more time for the effects of Tony’s snap to really hit him…as if his sheer personal power meant it took longer for his own dusting to occur, the minions around him being immensely weaker meaning it happened to them faster.
