Underrated means underappreciated not less talented. He is obv extremely talented just not getting his due credit.
He was never underrated, he was always appreciated in almost all of his roles, but got less roles that's all, everyone had accepted long back he is a fine actor
Actors like Pasupathy sir, Nasser sir, Prakash Raj sir, M.S. Bhaskar sir, Urvashi ma’am, Kovai Sarla ma’am are highly underrated and under-appreciated. They deserve better recognition than some “star” actors. Thanks to Kamal Haasan sir and RKFI for giving these actors some memorable roles that lasts for generations. And thanks to Vetrimaaran sir, Sudha Kongara ma’am and Pa Ranjith sir for rediscovering these talents. Future directors please use these talents properly. Hidden gems of Tamil cinema.

Maybe the rise of OTT, directors will get these actor's fullest potential. Like Vetrimaaran sir did with Prakash Raj sir in Paava Kathaigal, Urvashi ma'am in Putham Pudhu Kalai. This is one of the best and brilliant interviews I have seen on FC South.
The first time I was amazed by Pasupathy's acting was in Veyil (I saw Virumandi much later). His performance, especially while yearning for his mom to shampoo his head and trying to mingle with his family were brilliant.
And apart from BR who is as usual at his best and Pasupathy, big clap to the cameraman, for continuously moving around and adjusting the exposures. Looks like he is the only one who couldn't afford to relax. Except for 2 minor cuts, the whole interview looks like a single shot!

for me the highlight of the movie is: after beating dancing rose, Pasupathi gets into the ring and gives a majestic look with a pride... no filmy or punch dialogues.. just a look conveys all... this is where director has scored. indication of a good director. he could have given a lengthy dialogues but went with just a look and now Pasupathi scores here... awesome acting and direction...

Those were absolutely true words...Kamal is a true genius in spotting such talents..that is why vadivelu was Esaki in Devar Magan...what a powerful character it was!! No way a comedy role! Delhi Ganesh and Janakaraj are also very similar...while other directors considered them as comedians, Kamal always gave them strong roles!!

The way the interview is done as a walk and talk conversation capturing the surrounding environment is just brilliant. It feels like we are just on a stroll with a friend who is recounting his life experiences on the subject of acting. It brings a new look the interview rather than casual chit chat over coffee.
