  • Toyota Audio/Navigation system can be decoded when the security pin is not known. We perform this by using the Toyota/Fujitsu Ten decoder.

Just pull it out and put in a decent head unit, that looks like something from the 90's

How do I order A special radio decoder?

  • @rubigor

Would be better if the decoder gave you the code so next time you lose power you dont need to go through the whole procedure again. I think I'd just replace the head unit with aftermarket. Thxs for your video

The security code gets deleted during decoding so you don't have to go through the process again. A new code has to be input by the owner to enable the security feature.

    Great video Darek.
Do all Toyota head units have a code or only legacy units without navigation, for example pre CY11, CY13, CY15, CY16, CY19, etc?
Also, any way you can change the security code to a number of your choice?
    Thanks

The codes are customer fitted. Sometimes stupid dealerships set a code at pre-delivery and should leave a card etc showing what the PIN is.

      Hi Andrew
      Thanks for the great feedback🙂
You raise a good question regarding the codes. Not something I have been looking into but now that you mention it I can’t recall ever having to do one on a CY11 onwards. Have been looking at a few units coming into the shop since you asked the question. CY15, 16, 17, 19 do not have it. Haven’t checked CY 11 and 13 yet. 21MM has got a security password now.
You can change the security code if you wish. You need to cancel the existing code and input a new one of your choice.

      Hi
Thanks for getting in touch. We have a part number for this decoder and it is listed as a Special Service Tool, unfortunately it is not available for sale at the moment, no reason given as to why

You should have used up all attempts prior to getting out the F10 decoder. It's usually last 3 of VIN, 3 numbers from dealer code of original seller.... or the stupid numbers which are used by cops and rental companies.

Yes agree, there are various combinations you can try. Sometimes owners set their own security code which they forget or sell the vehicle without informing the the buyer. We offer the decoding service as a last resort and the video highlights the process. This helps the owner understand what is involved and the reason for the labour charge.

@@nunawadingtoyota8134 I used to charge $25 cash for the early resets, which involved the number sequence and $50 cash for the later model resets with decoder box.
Loved that easy money as I always had scumbag car yards and car re-birthers coming to get their radios decoded.
If they wanted an invoice, then it was double the cost as I had to open a repair order. Half the money went into my pocket, other half went for after work beers! My shop staff mostly had drinking problems.
