  • Harvesting eggs from 4 different breeding pairs of angelfish. I will show the step by step process of preparing the eggs in to my DiY incubator.
    In this video I will share my method on how to breed Angelfish. I will document the daily progress and will upload the episodes every week.
    This process is the most effective way of breeding angelfish for myself. This is not according to any book or other hobbyist.

    You can also use a feather to move the eggs (instead of brush)

      Anything will work as long as you have access to get a feather 😁

    I’ve had angels spawn on the one side and on the edge of the slate. I also thought it was kind of odd since they have the whole slate. I’ve also seen them lay eggs on the airline when there was no slate available. I guess some just prefer it that way. Nice angels! 👍

    Can I ask steps on how you take care of fry once they are freeswimming to have a higher chance of survival. I always get failed when it comes to breeding.

    • @tropicstankmate
      @tropicstankmate  Před rokem +1

      Temperature and parameters are big factor. Fry are very sensitive to any sudden change. I don’t feed the fry until they are fully swimming or big enough to eat micro worms or 1st bite. Feed 3x a day and WC daily or more if needed depends in your ways of feeding. Then after a week you can start using fresh hatch BBS. 😬 Good luck!

    I always allow the parents to raise their own fry as it is more natural and doesn't cause any stress to the parents.

      @tropicstankmate  Před 2 lety

      I totally agree. If i have bigger tAnks to house my breeder and let them raise the fry yeah sure I will do that with all my 6 pairs of angels. Unfortunately i have limited space.

    As a former angelfish breeder I think the reason they're laying eggs on the edge is because they prefer the smoother part of the slate.

    Hello great ig and thank you for sharing what you know on CZcams and ig. I am new to breeding angels. I have 2 breeding pairs. One pair raised there babies once but not again. So I am going to try to raise them for the first time. Do you know if distilled water can be used instead of ro water? I haven't been able to find ro water. Thanks, matt

    • @tropicstankmate
      @tropicstankmate  Před 2 lety

      Hello Matt, back in the day when Im out of RO I’m using purified water from grocery stores. I fill up 5gal container and it works ok. freshwater RO in my area is about .70 cents per gallon and refill for purified water is only .40 cent. As long as temperature is the same in your breeding tank, No problema 😁

    • @matthewlombardo7463
      @matthewlombardo7463 Před 2 lety +1

      @@tropicstankmate okay after further research I found my problem. I was looking for water labeled ro instead of looking at fine print. Drinking water at my local grocery store on the label in the fine print says purified by : reverse osmosis. So I do have ro water available to me. Thanks again

    • @tropicstankmate
      @tropicstankmate  Před 2 lety

      @@matthewlombardo7463 I choose to remove it after 24hrs to make sure male have plenty of time to fertilize. I saw some CZcams video 2hrs only. Best answer is to have trial and error because every fish is different

      @@tropicstankmate I have a pair that twice I have remove eggs and successfully raised the fry myself but now everytime I remove the eggs they turn white. I think im doing everything the same. Maybe im getting a little excited and pulling them before they are fertilized. I will try leaving eggs with parents longer.
      Thank you
