I use baking soda with tea tree oil but it's also important to let your shoes sit out.
On days you don't wear them leave that baking soda in tho and when you do wear them, if you suffer from smelly feet, it's good to have clean feet, clean socks, and I'd even apply some antiperspirant and baby powder on my feet before wearing the socks (top and bottom of your foot and in between the toes).

Also, SUN. Keeping your shoes to air dry under the sun helps a lot too.

I’ve seen coffee filters go for maybe 100 count for $1.50 USD.
You could always use a plastic bag and place the shoes inside. Open the box of baking soda, but don’t pour any inside of the bag. Just let it sit upright.
