    I have a JL... looks nice and has a few design upgrades like removing doors and soft top operation are much easier over the JK. However, its pathetically over-engineered and overly computerized to the point of absurdity. Two batteries are a total pain, all kinds of problems with auto start stop, corrosion issues, the list goes on and on. Mine has spent 3 weeks in the shop over just the last 2 months to fix 4 different problems. Contrast this with my wife's JK... it has 178k miles, it's 5 years old and it's been solid as a rock. We've only replaced the radiator. That's it. JKs are designed much simpler and that translates to reliability. If I had it to do over again, I would buy a JK a hundred times over the JL.

    Sold my 2015 JKU Sport in January to find a Rubicon. Was going back and forth from JK and JL and ended up with a JKUR that was also a 2015 and only 50k miles.
    The cost difference was around $8,000 at minimum (rougher shape, higher miles) and upwards of $15-20k or more to jump to a JLUR and I couldn’t justify that. I get part of that price difference is just age, but I don’t mind the the outdated interior, only wish it was the 8 speed trans..
    If it was really a $5000 difference at the time I probably would have went JL but at easily double that made my mind for me.

    Got a 2015 wrangler sahara jku a couple months ago for $24k with only 30k on the odo. Fully loaded (even leather!) I knew the old couple that traded it in to the dealership and bought it from the dealership before they even put it on the lot (saved some money because they didnt clean, inspect, or "repair" anything). I could sell it tomorrow for 30k if I wanted... But im kind of in love with this thing, especially with the 6 speed manual. Ive got about 50k miles to drive before it has any noticeable impact on resale, so I think I will.

Is it slow? a lil bit but i did not get a lifted jeep to go fast lmao. Right now, its on 35s, 2 inch lift, steel bumpers. Getting about 16mpg and have not had any engine issues. I bought my Jeep in September 2018 and I looked and looked finally I found a 2017 JKU Rubicon HR used with 39k miles, every factory option. The army ranger spent $80k on it he used it to get from Barracks to barracks so only highway miles and it had no after market modifications done to it. The price should have been about $55k give or take, so when he was asking $28k I was very suspicious. 1 it was on ebay 2 he said if I send him the money he'll send me the jeep. So I told him if it's real I will rent a car and drive to pick it up and we settled on a price of $26,500. It's got about 53k miles on it today and I could double my money if I sold it today. I get offers all the time because that's what I do. I run a mobile install business where I go to the costumer and install Jeep parts and even do full custom builds. All I'm saying is you can come across a great deal. In my case I had to take extra precautions because it was almost to good to be true. So be careful and keep hunting°|||||||°

    Hey quick question. I have a 23 rubicon jlu 3.6L with XR package. How do you think the jeep would handle your current tire set up? Also it would be best to add a 3” lift?

    • @GodspeedZRZ
      @GodspeedZRZ  Před rokem

      I think it would handle it great! I do believe ride height on yours should be the same as mine but I’m not exactly sure. It will definitely handle the tire in terms of drivetrain and powertrain. Clearance could be the only issue and that’s what easy to fix with a lift or even just aftermarket fenders.

      Happy to hear another option! In my experience we get a lot of Canadian Jeeps and Rams from auction in TN and they are generally bad apples. Im eyeing a 2019 Moab wrangler for mid 30s for sale with 120,000 miles. Do you think thats a great deal for it? Since the Moab is higher trim lvl than the Rubicon. And what tires size do you have? They look amazing

    • @GodspeedZRZ
      @GodspeedZRZ  Před rokem +1

      With that mileage there aren’t many out there to price it against. The Moab is technically just a loaded interior are rubicon exterior appearance package so it doesn’t have the same axles, gearing, lockers, etc. It should still be less than any rubicon with that mileage and leather interior. A vehicle is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay for it but with that being said I would recommend looking for one under 100k miles for that low 30s price. They are out there just have to do some digging! Thanks for watching!

    The best thing for me about the Wrangler is the looks. I appreciate the heritage look. It is Iconic. Similar to what Porsche has done with the 911, although even more so. My biggest problem with the Wrangler is who makes it. Unfortunately, Chrysler (Daimler/Chrysler, Fiat Chrysler, Stellantis - whatever you want to call them) typically suffer from quality and reliability problems more so than many others.. Bought a Chrysler product years ago and it was the single worst vehicle from a quality/reliability standpoint I have ever owned. About 20 years later I decided to get a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Well, let's just say it wasn't the worst. Changing their name doesn't seem to help. All I know is I am done with them. And adding more "technology" will only worsen it (for all vehicles) as these things age. I won't assume the third time will be the charm, irrespective of their name. .
