Prismatic compass closed traverse survey.A closed traverse survey by prismatic compass is a method of surveying where we measure the lengths and directions of a series of connected lines that form a loop. We start and end at the same point. We use a prismatic compass to measure the magnetic bearings of the lines and a chain or tape to measure the distances, record the data in a table and apply corrections for errors, then we draw the traverse on a map using a protractor or a graphical method.This method is used for surveying the boundaries of lakes, woods, fields, plots of land, etc. and for surveying moderately large areas with accuracy and ease.
