This very set was my inspiration to expand my layout from a small loop to a larger properly detailed one. The smooth livery especially gave me nostalgia as a child that I just don't feel with the new Avanti livery we have now.
Omg I remember watching this when I was younger about 6-7 years old and has always gotten to my imagination with having one of these expensive trains back 12 years ago, and I stg I want to go back to these times :(
when i was little the very first real vehicle other than i car was an american BNSF freight train parked right outside my house. since then i have been in love with any sort of vehicle that runs on rails. i have some model trains but not the best type of track. when i saw the night mail review i started watching more and more of your videos. keep on going Intercity82
greetings from Aussieland .I have watched just about all your reviews and loved them all i have actually taken your advice and bought some. Thanks for doing these it is a great help for those like me who are getting back into railroading cheers cobber
@HevyTH1 - my Pendolino was DCC fitted so I never had to install the chip. All I can tell you is that a chip is needed in both ends, and it has to be an 8 PIN chip like the R8249 from Hornby.
@somerandomalex - is it definitely the DCC model you're running? Not the standard DC model? Also, are you sure both ends have chips in them? Also, on rare occasions chips can malfunction, and this could be the cause. But check the other things first.
@legoboy70 - I do have one DCC sound fitted loco and will be doing a video on her soon but she has been customed chipped. The best way when it comes to realistic sound :)
I am so going to get my dad to buy me this! I already have a Trans pennine Express and a cross country and a virgin Voyager and I need a virgin for my set! Thank you for posting this!! 😁
@2009Buzza - I have to mention running in so that people who might not have seen any of my previous videos know about it. But yes, this model has been ran in.
@capmodesty - that video is still coming - indeed there are two now, one more complicated than the other. They are in a queue (which is about 40 videos big) but I've stopped making new ones until this queue is down to nothing. So won't be long.
Another great review, and "Yes" I'm going for this one on the back of that (and other researches). It appears to be an excellent entry to DCC as well, which would be an added bonus. One question: you added the 2 additional coaches, but am I right in thinking to make a full 9-car set as per WCML there would need to be a second pantograph carriage? Many thanks
@Thegiaxio - glad you liked the video! Actually, the Eurostar is not as high quality as the Pendolino and the cab doesn't even have a floor in it. Plus it runs exclusively between London and the continent - no where near where I plan to base my layout on.
@2009Buzza - I think the APT in the 80s used a system like that but this model uses a much simpler method, where the bogie, as it turns, basically forces the body of the coach to roll to one side slightly.
@pyronathanpyro - haha yes! true! Maybe they will do something like that in time? I am going to host a live session soon, however. So maybe that can be when people ask me questions live. :)
Yes I agree, but I think you have to give credit where credit's due. Hornby chase after a slightly broader range of customer than Bachmann. 99% of everyone I know into trains, got into trains via a Hornby train set - not a Bachmann one. Without getting into the hobby in the first place, there would be very few customers for Bachmann, or any of the other makes too. I started with Hornby, as did countless millions of others, and added Bachmann to the collection when I was old enough.
Wow love this i love trains in genral but i dont own any good model trains sadly. Awesome video love the train its exactly like the 380 i drive in train simulator 2013 :)
a quick question how do you get your logo on the bottom left of your vids because i want to put my logo on mine to stop anyone nicking my vids and classing it as there own
Awesome vid, lovely model there and I like the fact your using blu-tack, I used to have a Hornby set and I had to hammer in pins which was hard work and messy, and have Hornby discontinued overheads?
two things. I have the exact same train (ie from the set) and the nameplate coach one of the two that you said you dont get in the set comes with the train(whcich also meant that you had a random standard coach in between two firsts) , but what to pendolino coaches did you buy, cos im loking to extend mine to six coaches so if you sill have the boxes , what were the hornby catalogue numbers?
@Mrlego2011 - I'm sorry but right now my railway is in bits (re-decorating) and so I couldn't review it even if I wanted to or had to. The video on the Voyager won't be up for some weeks yet due to how many other videos I've got to get done first. But someone else may have done one?
This dude is the reason i fell in love with model trains and this is the first video i watched
Memories, oh memories. This was one of the first YT videos that I ever watched, way back in 2011-13-ish
LMFAO same i was like 5
Same
Same this was actually the first vid I watched
Yeah same
@@neon5433 yeh same

This was one of the first CZcams videos I ever saw and you should be proud it was one of yours.

Man, this gives so much memories.

Love it..."this is the main driving unit as you can tell by the weight" 🤣 had me in stitches 👍 looks like a stunning set though!
I'v got this train set for my 18th birthday last year. what a train set it was and still is my favorite one too.
You were the first channel I stuck to. That alone and the quality has me subbed
so smooth!! and the tilt is amazing
@HevyTH1 - my Pendolino was DCC fitted so I never had to install the chip. All I can tell you is that a chip is needed in both ends, and it has to be an 8 PIN chip like the R8249 from Hornby.
I love your work
No one else on youtube could do such a high quality vid other than you, Will. 11/10!
you make by far the best video's on you tube! love the 82 animation!
I will check out your channel tomorrow over breakfast!
@RCProductionable - just pop the casing off. It won't snap so long as you're careful.
I have the Alstom set, I've been watching for the last 3 years
This is so good well done man
@Trainmaster111 - it has a connection for the track, a connection for accessories and a socket for the power cable.
@somerandomalex - is it definitely the DCC model you're running? Not the standard DC model? Also, are you sure both ends have chips in them? Also, on rare occasions chips can malfunction, and this could be the cause. But check the other things first.
Love the videos, you got me buying the Virgin Pendolino and going DCC. I am very New to all this again.
@roden81 - a 9 car set would require a very long station on my proper layout, and I don't want a station that long. So it'll probably stay as 6.
Make sure its wheels and the track are spotless!
@legoboy70 - I do have one DCC sound fitted loco and will be doing a video on her soon but she has been customed chipped. The best way when it comes to realistic sound :)

I do need to do that again - yes!
It's up to you. I run mine on the floor, as I am too tall to stand in my attic!
@IgotPMT - lol, thanks - glad you like it. I'll make sure the vids stay good and keep coming!
AWWWW i would love a train from u!
I Like this train, I see them all the time going from Stoke station to Crewe these and DMUs.
thanks for the comment!

@Class66Rocks - I have but I'll be in no rush to get it :)

@leftmid18 - I'm not sure Check Trident Trains. He has a good range of N-gauge models.
I am getting this train for my birthday!
keep um comin :D!!!!!! another great vid!!
@Thegiaxio - glad you liked the video! Actually, the Eurostar is not as high quality as the Pendolino and the cab doesn't even have a floor in it. Plus it runs exclusively between London and the continent - no where near where I plan to base my layout on.
@TheStuntManAlf - videos on the proper layout are, like many of my videos, already made and in a queue. They should be live before Christmas
@verreljet thank you!
Great review
Hello Great vid! :) Ive got aa question as you had said that my 18' raidus curves are between 2nd and 3rd it that fine for her to run on? thanks.
@HSTdesire it was ordered from Amazon I think
my faviorute train set incredible
Ai love your channel
I would love to! Maybe I will when I can
I Love this train set
Yea I really want it
@mendcg - I find there's little or even no need to use friction tyres on the layout I have
Great video
it is amazing detail for a hornby set.
Such a beautiful train I use to own one which I sadly miss
Great vid!
@2009Buzza - I think the APT in the 80s used a system like that but this model uses a much simpler method, where the bogie, as it turns, basically forces the body of the coach to roll to one side slightly.
Nice train - good to see with the extra carriages. How did you make the scoreboard at the end of the video?
@Whizzer1 - yeah, demand was high for me to review it - so I did
@pyronathanpyro - haha yes! true! Maybe they will do something like that in time? I am going to host a live session soon, however. So maybe that can be when people ask me questions live. :)
verry nice layout there !
I just got this from my presents!
awesome video mate thats one of the trains i want to get next :)
loved my first and second jorney on it
@josephgorton90 - I got this from Amazon actually!
Yes I agree, but I think you have to give credit where credit's due. Youve inspired me to get the set YOLO!
have you tried Amazon? And Trident Trains?
I had this then sold it for the Alstom pendolino train set. I love the Alstom branding.
@TheMoonWentBoom - this is only a temp layout - a proper one is on its way
@ronop1 - thank you!: )
Can you recommend a better model Pendolino in Virgin Trains livery?
i have to ask do u use the spare friction tyres for the rest of the motorised wheels
Great Video, I am doing a large rebuild of my main Depot on my layout
Definitely!
@M9Guy - from all over really! Online and local shops
@SmilingJellyman - you need a maximum of 2 controllers for the track mat :)
I am fine with just my one Pendolino for now.
Most impressive. Next on my list once I get space to start building an actual layout :P
Awesome Just dam Awesome,!!!
Wow love this i love trains in genral but i dont own any good model trains sadly. Awesome video love the train its exactly like the 380 i drive in train simulator 2013 :)
This a very nice set

@fulf1 - this particular set cost anywhere from £120 to £220 depending on where you buy it.
Nice, I was only wondering because I'm starting my model layout again!! ;) basically using your track layout as one line DC and the other DCC
nice video intercity 82!
I’m 10 and asked for this for Christmas, I hope I receive it!! 😁😁😬
I am 11, and I asked for a London Midland class 170.
@MegaTrainlover - because I have both this set and the Mixed Goods set which are both digital sets.
@Mrlego2011 - I'm sorry but right now my railway is in bits (re-decorating) and so I couldn't review it even if I wanted to or had to. The video on the Voyager won't be up for some weeks yet due to how many other videos I've got to get done first. But someone else may have done one?
i usually do not like hornby but they did a really good job on this. were did you get it from?
@modelrailways - hehe, thank you
You should do a running session. That would be really cool with all of your locos going round.
@GreatRailwayJourneys - I'm happy with the ones I have for now lol - I can only just park them! :)
