I still think Snow Go is the worst, mostly because the time is so much more strict than Cold Hard Crash. I'm one of the guys who thought Crash 2 was easier than the first game overall, but according to my notes, I found Snow Go to be more annoying than anything in the first game.
I found the second game to be easier. I was able to do warp room 3 to the last secret relic in about a few hours. Even though the first game kicked my ass and a few of those levels, Like Stormy Ascent and The Lab took a few hours individually, I actually thought that game was way more enjoyable overall. It felt good to do good in that one.
Also, it's great to see you here. I've been following your videos for some levels that I was stuck on.
I'm struggling with snow go and it's getting impossible, my best time is 44:XX and I don't see where I can drop 2-3 seconds. It really sucks.
yeah i personally found crash 2 a lot more just plain fiddly than crash 1 (end of levels, more mechanics etc)
I only went for gold, but yeah, Crash 1 felt generally tough but fair... whereas I was just glad to see the back of Crash 2 by the time I was done with it.
Its about time for Crash 3!!

OG warped had a glitch that let you tank through the nitros, finishing the level in like 1 sec
I wonder how less unfair these platinum would be if the hitboxes were good. It's honestly funny how much is wrong with the hitboxes on this compared to a PS1 game made in 1 or 2 years

I'm not gonna lie, I think I prefer playing the Jetpack levels on time trial mode than regular mode, I thought it was pretty fun because it isn't about speed, if you manage to never let go of the move forward button you're guaranteed a platinum, it's all about learning the patterns and dodging it all, with that said, my top 5 goes like:
5. Totally Bear - Do I even need to say anything?
4.Ruination - Same reason as yours
3. Spaced Out - It's all about precise timing, you just gotta hope that when you get to the pistons they're in a good timing where you don't have to stop to wait for them
2. Hangin' Out - By far the worst time to complete
1. Cold Hard Crash - Although I don't think this is necessarily harder than Hangin' Out, it was the last relic that I got, just keep dying to the most annoying things, and THAT JUMP on the 2d section, where you have to hit the switch box, I preferred to just skip the box and do a slide jump spin trying to get it, eventually I got it but not without a million of failures

Is like you said in the crash 4 review if you just playing this game for fun you'll definitely enjoy it but when trying to get the relics especially the platinum relics you'll definitely start to hate it
You said it best on the 3rd or 4th episode, it genuinely feels like the game was made so weirdly that when you jump its always at the wrong time and position like it was made for another game entirely, but you did REALLY good considering what we were dealing with! Very fun series!

For Cold Hard Crash i found my own consistent way of breaking all the time boxes at the beggining.
You basically have to start the level running, grab the clock during a slide jump to the front of the first boxes and spin them while still moving foward then jump to break one of the time boxes faster.
Run in the middle of the road and spin the first and second penguin, then move to the left and spin the third penguin. If done correctly it will spin into the first box.
FINALLY you do a slide spin jump to break the second time box, bounce on the third, then spin the fourth one.
My list is a little bit different:
1. Piston it Away
2. Hangin' Out
3. Sewer or Later
4. Un-bearable
5. Cold Hard Crash

Crash 2 is harder on average, but I think Stormy Ascent is generally more mentally taxing than any single level in 2 if for no other reason than the level is long and a good run essentially requires you to remember it all

Lmao three of the levels here are the Snow levels, which is fair. For me personally, Snow Biz is actually a pretty fair time compared to Snow Go and Cold Hard Crash. I find it easier to maneuver than the other two. So my top 5 worst Crash 2 Plat would look like (5) Pack Attack; (4) Ruination; (3) Sewer or Later (yes, not Hangin' Out but that one is still tough); (2) Crash Crush; (1) Cold Hard Crash.
Cold Hard Crash - "It shouldn't be that hard" is exactly how I feel. When I look back on it now I say to myself "I can just cheese the death route with Aku Aku" but there's always something else to mess with you somehow.
I also finally got all the platinum relics on Crash 2. I did find it difficult but a bit easier than Crash 1. Here’s my top 5 levels I wouldn’t wish to platinum again:
5: Snow Go
4: Ruination
3: Spaced Out
2: Crash Crush
1: Cold Hard Crash

Hangin’ Out is easily the hardest.
Hazards absolutely everywhere in that one. And you have to play pretty much perfectly.

I'm creating the ultimate ranking list about the difficulty of getting platinum relics. For me, Hangin' Out is the most insane in CB2, especially the timer itself.
Good list! Yeah, I knew there would be ice levels included. They're frustrating enough in the regular game! I feel like they just kind of shoehorned time trials into Crash 2 without taking into consideration if they would even be fun to speedrun or not. Having the Speed Shoes in Crash 2 is neat, but it just feels like the levels were never built for them unlike Crash 3. Looking forward to Crash 3's Platinum run!

quite an interesting list, i'm really surprised that Snow Biz and Pack Attack made it to the list, and no mention of Hangin' Out or any of the Polar Levels at all. It's fascinating seeing people's list on what is the most difficult in Crash 2 since it's the most diverse and inconsistent Platinum out of all Crash games
imo, the Platinum that gave the most headache are:
1. Piston it Away (just the cycle alone is not fun at all)
2. Spaced Out
3. Hangin' Out
4. Crash Dash
5. Snow Go
i genuinely have no memories of having too much difficulty on Cold Hard Crash and Ruination
and i'm one of the guys who sided that Crash 2 is far more easier to run
The snow levels in this game drove me crazy! I gave up getting platinum relics on another of the levels! If I can’t get platinum on one type of level, I won’t bother with the other ones at all. That’s my motto.
Pack Attack is the only level in Crash 2 I didn't even get a sapphire relic on. I even finished the level in a time trial, thinking I had been quick enough, but nope.
You had so many gripes about the level design in your series, and I feel you forgot this game was originally designed before time trials were a thing.
Interesting list, for me Pack Attack was still really annoying with getting caught on stuff, working with the lab assistant cycles, going around the lasers, bombs and heat aura things, and sometimes even GETTING THE CLOCK. Personally, I had a worse time on Piston, Ruination, Snow Go, etc but yeah those hitboxes are worse than CTR invisible walls, even the Out of Time ones (I'll get that sub 1:50 one day!). But anyway, good luck on Crash 3, and remember this. Future Tense is the worst to get, the jetski levels are all horribly tight and long with very bad turning, all bike levels, especially Road Crash and Hog Ride, are impossibly frustrating and have very tight crates and boosting zones, the Arabic levels have WAY too many techs with those bouncing carpets, and have tight times with obstacles littered everywhere, Pura levels are very annoying to start off, but become a grasswalk eventually. I'll tell you warp room 2-3 specific levels next video, I'll return there!
I remember the first platinum I ever got in Crash 2 was Snow Go and I think I got a platinum in Snow Biz at my second try (don't remember now). So to me it's kinda funny u put this levels as the most annoying but I do know that the ice fisic in the N.Sane Trilogy was trash so I get why u put them here

I was only going for gold relics and I managed to do them all except from spaced out. Months later and I still can't do it. I'm not great when it comes to time trials but thought I'd still be able to gold them all

Wow. Hanging out wasn't even top 5. Hell, not even a dishonourable mention?! Surprising given its the go-to for hard crash 2 times. I don't remember crash 3 times being too bad, but given I still say Crash 1 is hardest, your mileage may vary. The levels that gave me the most trouble in warped were:
1. Road Crash. FUCK the motorbike levels. This time is STINGY.
2. Hog wild. Not as hard as road crash but you need to hold the wheelie the whole race.
3. Hot coco. Requires PERFECT execution of a specific route with AWFUL jetski controls.
4. Tell no tales. Jetski.
5. Sphynxinator. Probably the hardest platform level to platinum, but even then, not too bad compared to the above.
I really don't like the jetpack levels, even in the original game, the fact there's two of them in the final warp room, it just kills the pacing for me. Crash 2 is one of my favourite games but getting to those jetpack levels, they're just something I have to get over with rather than something I want to do. Never bothered with the relics, the thought just seemed too miserable.

Never let your guard down. Every Crash game has its own hard/harder levels. Even Warped.
Literally the levels that I had trouble with. Except Pack Attack. That one was easy for me. But Hangin Out is terrible, cause you need to time all these enemies on the hanging sections. 😆😆

Crash 2 is not a hard game to platinum at all for me, although, I’ll admit, there are honestly 6 levels which I find harder to platinum than the rest

#4 - Bye-Bye Blimps, Mad Bombers and Rings Of Power (All plane stages are rough. Your aim needs to be on point.)
#3 - Hot Coco (Mainly all JETSKI levels, but Ski Crazed and Hot Coco are the worst)
#2 - Hog Ride (Requires ABSOLUTE perfection to clear. Honorary mention to Road Crash. Finicky asf)
#1 - Future Tense (DLC level that went overboard. That FINAL section is BRUTAL.)

Good luck with crash 3, which for me is the hardest of the 3, might even be harder than crash 4. Only saying that cuz i got all plat relics in crash 4 but still to this day dont have all plat relics in crash 3, i just stopped trying cuz there's just so many shit levels, especially the vehicle levels
Snow levels really discouraged me from playing relics on this game. I perfer Naughty Dog's Crash 2 to this trash fire.
Crash 3 won't be any easier. Coco levels are pain.

pack attack is actually one of the easiest levels to get platinum, the trick is that the RNG is always perfect on the firist try so if you didnt get it restart the stage and try again, My Pack Attack Run czcams.com/video/DgxftMxAWcc/video.html (yes the level is bulls*it the if you remove the RNG doing what i say its pretty easy)

id argue crash 3 is harder only because of the vehicle levels. the platforming levels arent too bad (with a couple exceptions) but with the bike levels and jetski levels having trash controls makes them extremely annoying to do. easily the worst relics in the 3 games imo
