I like to watch some ones idea's come to life. Great work
Im putting a remote pedal box in my car because im short and want to sit as far back as possible. Thanks for the video
Cool deal. Looking to swap a T5 into 76-91 econoline with 300 I6. Only problem is clutch pedal assembly. Since clutch pedal assembly is ridiculous to find. Gonna do a universal hydraulic pedal since this looks easy enough. And just do this. That solves the whole deal. (minus the clutch pedal mount, but thats the fun part).
I burn alot of cables. But with lots of practice, its possible to change it in about 15 -20 mins with clean up. I carry an extra im my trunk :)
i keep a spare also just in case, but i think preventative maintenance can save you from killing a cable.
Look forward to the follow up with it installed.
may be in a couple of weeks, stay tuned.
Love the drift fox
more vids on that soon!
That cylinder is a push style one so you should mount it on the other side. The fork releases the clutch when you pull it towards the rearend of the transmission.🤔
Or is the pivot of the fork on the other side of the transmission? 🤔
Aah no nevermind good stuff watched it a second time 😂😂😂
I've converted my 2000 ranger to hydraulic with the t5.. used a 99 f550 master and 280z slave..I don't like it. May try this.
On my rod, I used a 3/8 inch threaded rod, couple 3/8 inch nuts and a lock washer AND a 1/2 cariage bolt. Cut the head off the 1/2 in cariage bolt and drilled a hole in thw center and slid the 3/8 rod through it. It sits on the clutch fork great.
What master did you use and have you tested the setup yet? Look on my channel, I have a test video of the hydraulic setup for a visual

Amazing idea...
You should make them available for sale to stop the price gouging with cylinder
thats why i posted the video, its so easy to DIY!
The Thunderbird SC and the 89 up XR7 did have a hydraulic clutch setup, but it not a T5, they use a Mazda M5R2 transmission. Anyway the easiest way I've done T5 hydraulic swaps was to use a 1997 chevy S10 slave, cut a notch into the bell, bolt it direct and put a dimple in the clutch fork about 3/4" in from the cable mounting hole on the fork.
they use a hydraulic throw out bearing. That was an option, but not the best option.
Excellent!I need to do something very similar on my 1973 Volvo P1800es. Getting older and cable not cutting it. Any idea on reduction of force from cable to hydraulic? Thanks
it all depends on the relative bore sizes between the master and slave.
How did it work out for you? I want to do the same to my T5, do you have a part # you could share.
Cheers
it's working fine, what part number are you looking for?
Which is easiest peddle pressure, cable or hydraulic?
cable or hydraulic does not determine your pedal pressure, your clutch pressure plate and ratios do. A larger master cyl on your hydraulic will have a stiffer pedal. What is your goal?
@@Sgt.Slides I have a Z bar assembly. Would a hydraulic assembly be easier on my leg?
@@joesmith306 the length of your Z bar arms and the clutch pressure plate are going to determine your pedal pressure.
@@Sgt.Slides So the longer the Z bar arms the easier the pedal pressure?
@@joesmith306 longer arm on the pedal side and a shorter arm on the clutch side.
Did it work? I am putting a 302 and t5 into my 57 stateside pickup
absolutley, the only detail that changed after this video was posted is i found out that my clutch master cyl needed to be bigger, it was an easy fix. I dont have the details readily available, but if you can't find info on it, hit me up and i'll research it again.
Hydraulic is soo soft
What clutch master did you use?
later when i was ready to start testing the car i discovered that i needed a larger master, it pushed a little more fluid that gets the fork just to where it needs to go. I am currently using a Tilton 75-Series Universal Master Cylinder Kits 75-875U .
@@Sgt.Slides thanks
@@Sgt.Slides How far does your clutch fork move exactly? Anyway you can make a small video measuring it? I did a test video on my channel..but I don't think I'm getting enough movement at the clutch fork
@@19jody72 Hey, i left a comment on your video a little earlier, but i actually found a vid that explains everything you want to see. czcams.com/video/6kb32R_2cBw/video.html
That thin cast aluminum part of the bell housing won't break off?
it's like a quarter inch thick. not thin at all.
@@Sgt.Slides I have the transmission. 1/4 inch or not its thin cast aluminum. If you don't have the answer then keep it to yourself.
@@Juandongduck angry much? you need a chill pill bro. if you think it will break, leave it alone or skip the conversion and buy a t56. This diy isnt for you.
Misleading. Not a full video. Waste of my time.
... or you could ask questions and i could help you out.
