    We won an upgrade to that cabin from an interior cabin for only $100 pp. We Freaking LOVED that Room and the food on the Apex in the Buffet was the BEST 😋 better than any other cruise 🛳 line. The large windows and view was Spectacular. ❣

    That type of balcony would be nice in Alaska when you necessarily don’t want to be outside, but have a great view of scenery. For the warmer climate cruises, not so much for us. We like sitting outside with the ocean breeze.

    Have read a couple reports from people who thought this kind of “balcony” would be cool. But by the end of the cruise they realized they liked a traditional balcony more. Can’t wait to hear what you think by cruise end.

    I wasn't a fan of the infinite balcony when I first saw it, however, I've booked a sailing on the Apex through the Norwegian Fjords and am very happy that I will be able to sit on my "balcony" and not be cold! Wouldn't be my first choice in the Caribbean or Mediterranean, though.

  • @tonia.5861
    @tonia.5861 Před 2 lety +13

    The problem with that type of balcony (on the Apex anyway) is that when we rolled the window down, it shut off the air in our cabin regardless if the folding doors were shut or not so our cabin was pretty warm and humid if we used the balcony as a real balcony. In addition, the folding doors were not smooth/easy to close. Perhaps it’s because it’s new and the bugs will be worked out in time. Loved the ship overall and are sailing again in December but this time with a traditional balcony!🤣

      I was just wondering how this kind of balcony and the air conditioning was working out. You just explained it. I can see why they would have the air turn off, however, I also can see how your room would become uncomfortable if you used the balcony for very long.

    You can get a layout with the bed away from the window. The best part of this room is leaving the bi-folds open and thus giving yourself all that extra room. The "balcony"concept is indeed flawed as you are not outside like we've come to enjoy.

    Yeah we did the Edge 2 years ago and that infinite balcony thing is ok but to be honest I like sitting outside. Much better when the wifey is sleeping to just go outside and close the door vs opening up the side of the cabin :) those little inside doors on the balcony really don't close off the balcony the way they could. I found on our cruise of the Med on Edge that I would just go head out on the ship vs staring endlessly at the waves rolling by on our balcony.......

Sue was refused boarding because she carried a small 5 pound oxygen concentrator. Doug had to stay with Sue because of her mobility and vision issues. The scooter should be in the room. The rental company will retrieve it on the 13th.

    For those of you who don’t like this type of stateroom, X does have the regular ones on all their M and S class ships. And there are some on the E class ships as well. But Don, you didn’t mention that the Captain can lock all the windows shut if he feels there is anything even close to bad weather, Lastly, you travel alone. I don’t. My wife likes to sleep in (until 7:00 sometimes). I get up at 5:00. I used to go out on the balcony and close the door and work on my Mac or read my Kindle. Can’t do that anymore. Lowering that window would be so noisy I am surprised it doesn’t wake everyone in the next two staterooms. And no one has mentioned bugs? When you are in port if you open it, don’t you get flys or gnats in the room? How about gulls coming in for lunch. Good luck getting those out.
