    I like the way you think. Course management is so important. I play with guys that immediately go into par 5's and have to get on in two or hit driver every hole. They don't play to certain areas of the fairway. If I steal they way you create your game play because I will be eventually showing my game play, I really like the way you do it personally. One of my favorite channels to watch.

    I love playing by myself and talking over each shot. I think it can really make you play better. Also, it's related to why I always get frustrated when I hear players discuss a strategy and then laugh it off or undermine their thought process by saying something like, "Oh, sure, like I can just do that," or, "If it was that easy, I'd do it every time." No matter your skill level, having a goal and trying to confidently accomplish it, will make you play better. Or get better. Or both! Even if you might not be able to pull of everything you try, try it as if you can!

  • @kusler67
    @kusler67 Pƙed rokem +3

    The ball doesn't care that your swing looks like a newborn giraffe trying to climb aboard a tricycle.
    The fact of the matter is that your swing path is a straight line (all swing paths are a straight line), so as long as you manage where that path is aimed, and where the face is in relation to that path, you will have a great swing.
    With your path going 9-ish deg in-to-out, and your face 3-ish deg closed to that path, it means a push draw that is very useable.
    Golf isn't golfswing. Golf is golf. And a golf swing is a golf swing. Golf doesn't really depend all that much upon your golf swing. You play to a great handicap becasue of your course managment, good short game, and most of all an over-the-top positive attitude.

      I'm *always* happy to be on the golf course. But like I mentioned in my video, the only rules of golf I think people ought to observe are: maintain pace of play & respect the golf course. 5:47 This shot and the next go where your feet are aligned with. I know that some players are pull hitters, but on this drive, your feet are aimed 150 yards right of the target you picked. Next approach shot, your feet are aimed well to the right and on the pitch, well left. 7:44 you are perfectly aligned and hit it right at the pin. I just wanted to share the observation. Great videos.

    great theory on the difference between driving range and on course.. you really shouldn't hit more than 50 balls max in a single range session.. and it shouldn't be all one club. Random practice is best, changing clubs and targets every swing or every couple will translate to the course better

  • @pcbenadeza
    @pcbenadeza Pƙed rokem +1

    Great video, as always, Adam!
    One thing I did notice. Especially when you struggled, but a few other times as well, your alignment is off.
    You aim, for example, at a palm tree but at setup your feet are aimed way right of that line. Closing yourself up a lot.
    When you do aim correctly (Club face at target and your feel left of that), your ball goes exactly where aim - like on the 13th. You swing more freely also.
    Something to keep in mind.

    Hey Adam. Been following you for a minute, maybe two. Either way, enjoy the videos and I like your thought/theory on the driving range and then to go play when hitting the driver. I'm kinda new to golf too. Been playing for 2 golf seasons and the reason I call it golf seasons is because of where I live. North Dakota, where there is snow for 6 months of the year and where I live is 100 miles from any indoor facility to practice golf. I have taught myself by watching videos and figuring things out and one of the things I learned was the tempo/Rythm of the swing, ball striking and what I noticed about the driver, when playing; like you said about the range, there are times that I have a 15 minute or longer wait per hole where on the range I can swing every few minutes. So my theory is that to remember form and tempo, few practice swings before hitting the ball but remember form and tempo.

      As for pace, I think you'll be surprised to discover that it doesn't (or shouldn't) hold up or interrupt play. In my case, I'm generally pretty fast over the ball tee-to-green (on the green I do settle in, though) and can easily play rounds in ~3 hours while filming, if the course can run that pace...

    The grass there is Bermuda, which makes sense, it's the most resilient grass in heat. Most of the Cabo courses use Bermuda for greens and fairways, but some use paspalum. It also helps explain why the practice green was slow and the greens very receptive. Bermuda tends to be spongy vs the bentgrass you would play back in Vancouver, which in summertime plays like glass.

    Great round Adam, despite the slow back nine hurting your rythm. You naturally draw the golf ball (and I think it's your most consistent contact) so you tend to set up right of target. I've noticed that you don't always change this when trying to hit a straight one or a cut. Maybe when you're playing a single like this you can treat it as a practice round and take some alignment sticks out with you? Could make an interesting video.

    I noticed your camera setup. Is it really only iPhone and the stand also the wireless microphone?? Do you have another iPhone strictly for recording?? Because I trued doing that on my main phone and it drained the battery so quickly

      Hey Kura. Yes, it is just my iPhone + mic. I turn the screen off between recordings and keep the phone in airplane mode while filming. Typically I only drain 20-40% of the battery throughout the round.

    hey Adam would you consider putting a 7 wood in your bag instead of a 3 hybrid? i just did and it works wonders. it was very easy to hit and ball flight was much higher with same distance. i use it a lot cause i also strike my driver poorly

      I like the 2ball for alignment but found the 34" length to be difficult. I could have cut it down an inch (or an inch and a half) but I chose to abandon the experiment and go back to my normal gamer.

    • @NotAScratchGolfer
      @NotAScratchGolfer  Pƙed rokem +1

      Yep. if I drive it well on flat ground at sea level, I hit it only 240-250. And depending on conditions (elevation, wind, turf), I can theoretically hit a "good" drive that goes 200 or 300+. I think it would benefit a lot of guys I play with to know the former number I referenced (i.e. how far they hit it on flat ground at a normal elevation). I don't *really* hit it 270, which is good for me to remember.
