Mega Man Xtreme 2, known as Rockman X2 GBC: Soul Eraser in Japan, is a video game developed by Capcom for the Game Boy Color
handheld game console. It is a spin-off title in the Mega Man X series and is a direct sequel to Mega Man Xtreme, released the previous year.
Mega Man Xtreme 2 takes place during the 22nd century, between the events of Mega Man X3 and Mega Man X4. The DNA souls of robots known as "Reploids"
all around the world are being stolen by pair of villains in order to create an army of undead "Mavericks". The "Maverick Hunters" Mega Man X and
Zero quickly spring into action, now with the help of their young ally Iris.
Mega Man Xtreme 2 is a similar take on the series action and platforming gameplay formula. The player may choose to play each of a series of stages
as either protagonist, X or Zero. Defeating the stage's boss will earn that player character its special weapon. Critical reception for Mega Man
Xtreme 2 was lightly positive.
EXTRA COMMENT: Following on from the prior game and concluding another series, MMXtreme 2 takes a more original twist by adding new reploid villians
and mixing up bosses from X1, X2 and X3 whilst item modification is a huge factor in this game, I did Zero Mode first so X would have a useful weapon
in disposing of his boss, Xtreme Mode for this game is basically you play as X and Zero at the same time and you take on all 8 Mavericks,
Berkana/Gareth AND making his appearance in the end of course is Sigma... interesting that both can't have the same weapon when you beat a Maverick. -

I beat this as a kid and never really realized just what a close experience it really was to Megaman X/X2/X3. I thought it was my child imagination filling in the gaps but like holy shit look at how smooth Zero's sword swipes are! I'm absolutely floored at just how good all the sprites/artwork look for such a tiny little screen.
Man after all these years and the music still stayed with me

I was searching for this!! This was my first megaman series, I miss this game
this is actually an impressive feat if you stop and think about it, they combined bits and pieces of a graphically superior game into a game boy game. Sure some things didn't quiet work, but the attempt is admirable and for the most part it was fun... now if only they could release a combo pack of various full megaman games on the DS or something, if they could re-release Mario 64, why not?

Yes, it did! It's kind of strange that it's not a reboot of Megaman X2, concerning the name is Megaman Xtreme, but in Japan, it's called Rockman (name for Megaman in Japan) X2: Soul Eraser. It makes sense that it takes place between X3 and X4, concerning that there are bosses from X 1-3 and that Iris is alive.

glad that Neon Tiger's stage music is based on the faster tempo version from the PS1/Saturn port, but it loops too early
This version's first stage music are better than NES's.I wish someone can make a remix for it.

X2 had terrible instrumentations that really killed what little good music it had. Xtreme 2: Soul Eraser fixed the tunes and made them really freaking great.

@Tonman3509 And hilarious. Dr. Wily being called Dr. Willy in the intro to Megaman 7 was funny. "Load Chaud" I found to be some kind of failed fat joke the first time I saw that in the game. "Reploid Research Lavatory" is the best one. Conducting research on Reploids while going to the bathroom. What will come next?
They called him Wiley in a game, i think in Megaman 3 lol, he has a lot of names. I almost everytime call him Willy. It is Wily or Wally? Hahahahaha

Glad to see IRIS come back after many fans complained her death in Mega Man X4 was unnecessary. Capcom decided to give her a more positive role in the game.
You can play as her in Mega Man X DiVE as well.

@@mrtrollnator123 I had MegaMan 4 and 5 on Gameboy, the 5 was kinda unique I remember because it didn't go with the same exact story and gameplay as the NES version.. MegaMan had the mega punch instead of mega blast I think it was.

Megaman Starforce 2: They screw up the translation about the Recover 150 during the Aaron Boreal side mission.

the original X3 compositions were very noisy with their instruments,so Xtreme 2 cleaned them up.

on ワイヤースポンジ stage I would always put it on rain weather ;)
I noticed when playing as X is the Easy Mode, but when playing as Zero is the Hard mode, but when unlocking Xtreme Mode, they play as X or Zero to take on all 8 at once without switching out.
You can switch between X and Zero. I play X on the X Mission stages and play Zero on the Zero Mission stages.

God this game was a pain in the ass for me. not because it's a difficult mega man (aside from Sigma's Final Form) but because my copy of the game had a fucked battery meaning I couldn't save my data if the gameboy turned off. You have no idea how long it took for me just to even look at Extreme Mode @_@ Ah good times...

Xtreme took place before X3, and Xtreme 2 took place after X3, but before X4.
Then why wasn't Iris in X3.
