Jones didn't underperform as a fighter. He underperformed as a human being.
Beauty
I just want to see him fight.
Nailed it.
I think he did though. Imagine if he wasn’t partying and he was training seriously and wasn’t getting bored with his opponents.
I dont know. I always look at him as this villain character. More sinister, much better. You dont have to look at everyone and expect them to be your hero or role models. Some are born nasty, villains like Jones
The content in 2023 from you guys has been amazing, love the new style! 🔥

That suplex in his first MMA match was beautiful. Imagine being some drunk tough guy from upstate NY and ending up in an MMA fight against the GOAT?!?
if nothing else it would be an honor
like to be a soccer dad registering in some regional mma tourney over the weekend only to get flipped over by a real fighter must be a crazy feeling
Brad Bernard tells that story to ANYONE who'll listen.
Lmfao at least that guy has a cool story to tell to his grandchildren. “ kids, I got judo tossed by the absolute best MMA fighter of all time, he then went on to split my face open with elbows. Goodnight kids”
U will be soccer kicked into oblivion .
It's insane to me that 35 year old Jones first won the LHW title back in 2011, now almost 12 years ago.
I remember I started watching him during the Matt Hamill fight and became a big fan watching him dominate everyone. That was before I realized how much of a phony POS that he really is and now I hope Gane dominates him. Watching him to the lead up to this fight instead of leaning into the bad guy role he's STILL trying to portray this goody two shoes guy because his narcissism makes him feel like he needs everyone to like him without the self awareness to realize that ship sailed long ago
That's how time works
@@slicingonions4398 its just who he is. I still expect him to win though. He’s too good

Absolutely love this deep dive into JBJ! I've seen the bulk of his fights and I trully regard him as the best all round fighter ever!
I was hoping so much that Tommy Toehold would be narrating . My day is better now!
Thx I have been waiting for that
Good job on this video!

@julian marx that might be a right assumption 🤣

Gr8 vid. So excited for Jon's return!
Absolutely
That suplex throw (same that he employed to ragdoll Stephan Bonnar) probably had his oponnent thinking: ''holy shit, what did I just got myself into''
😂
Great vid gents, I was waiting for Chael’s TKO win via toe injury though 😅
So that's where the "I'm going to make you my wife" line came from. Holy shit lol.
Before i watch this video i want to say that Jon Jones is real life homelander.

I appreciate you guys changing the direction of your content a bit for 2023. I'd love to see a slight rebranding too, your current logo has been fine til now, but I think it needs an update.
At this point his controversies are as much part of his mythology as his greatness. Whether you love him or you hate him, his career is fertile ground for a lengthy documentary when he finally ends his career.
His career will end up with him tyson style shrooming on podcasts talking semi deep stuff with a calming voice or violent death 🤷🏻♀️
Man, I knew all about his MMA career but I never knew about his family or college journey. His brothers both being Super Bowl champs surprised me, but what absolutely blew me away was the college opportunities! As an Iowa State alum, I never realized he had the opportunity! Had he gone to Iowa State, he would've been coached by Olympic Gold medalist and 159-0 (in college) Cael Sanderson. Oh btw, he also coaches the #1 Penn State wrestling team now. Crazy to think where Jon's career might've gone from there. May not even touch the octagon
I had absolutely no idea Chandler and John were brothers
Yup and his older brother Arthur won a Super Bowl with the ravens in 2012 and Arthur used to wrestle and he weighed over 300
so that is why Jon is Bones
Soon as i hear tommys voice i relax and know its gonna be a banger
BANGER
That picture of Jones and Colby in college is beyond cursed
Cursed? They’re both rich and famous!😂
First time I saw Jon Jones fight was back when he fought the late Stephan Bonner. I looked at the TV and saw that wild spinning elbow he landed. Was just a lanky kid with huge reach.
11:46 Look at McGregor while DC and Jones were brawling at the MGM Lobby.. His reaction is so funny. I've seen this clip many times but never saw McGregor. Lmao
Best MMA channel on CZcams period!!!
absolutely
U re the best broooo
Great cameo by the Linkster there!
FanDuel sponsorship!! Wow, level up boys!
Beige frequency has a great series on jones, detailed breakdown of his career, in and out (and also underneath) of the cage
My favourite part of his story was the headbutt to the car and "i haaaate yewww!"
Great video Sir Jon Bones Jones is the greatest
We need more of these for the greats
I feel like Wayne Brady's alter ego from the Chappelle show is how JBJ acts irl lol
I'm honestly hyped to watch Saturday night. Even fully understanding he could go down bad. Jon has been absent for 3 years and his first fight back is his heavyweight debut, but that's why I love sports. Anything can happen.
@julian marx you have 16 comments on this channel and half of them are talking about Jon Jones 😂😂 you're a troll gotta love it 🤡
@julian marx it’s Jon jones, anything can happen and if it’s terrible then probably will
I was hoping to gear a mention of the toe injury in the Sonnen fight. That shit was wicked.
Once this man wins HW Gold, there is no more GOAT debate in MMA. It ain’t GSP. It ain’t Anderson. It sure’s hell ain’t Fedor. It’s Bones Jones
Love him or hate him, pictogram is one of the best to ever do it.
"Can't have a Jones fight without a dumpster fire"... 😂... So true
Dude's a total what-if. He was on pace to be the best for years, and no one but himself has stopped him. He must have some good dirt on Dana because he keeps getting chances. 3 years is a long time off especially after questionable wins against some of his last few opponents. One thing that made Jones so versitile was his leanness, and didn't have to rely on strength. This will be an interesting transition, and to see if he can adapt to his bigger size. I'm not the biggest Jones fan but I do hope he takes full advantage of any opportunities he has left.
His wife begs to differ. Also why did you write a full essay?
@@Cryptum404 you adverse to a bit of reading bro?
Idk, I’m kind of a Jones fan, guess I can admire the run. Have seen it start to now and idk if the bumps helped or hurt him tbh. Legacy wise I mean. If he fought 2-3 times a year he likely would have been caught eventually. I mean we would of seen the Rumble fight for sure. And who knows. But that’s the whole thing who knows 🤷🏽
It’s hard not to give the guy a chance because 1 he draws a lot of money 2 he’s still potentially the best fighter in the world. He’s the worst human being when it comes to impulse control and not ingesting whatever is put in front of his face, but as fighter he is by far the most talented person we have ever seen enter the cage.
@@Cryptum404 if that's a full essay to you I'd love to see your high school diploma 😂
I’m a big fan of Jon Jones the MMA fighter. Imo he’s the most gifted fighter that the sport has ever seen. He has the most well rounded game I’ve ever seen and when he’s motivated and engaged in a fight, he’s a joy to watch. Between the one DQ on his record and the constant troubles outside of the Octagon, he’s always been his own worse enemy. If he could’ve stayed clean and just kept his head down and went to work, who knows how dominant he could’ve been.
Tommy if you jynx this fight, you're getting deported back to Toonville
I'm curious at which round Tommy thinks the stoppage will occur. I give it until 4 when Gane forces the ref to stop the fight
While I enjoyed the ending sentiment on disappointment, I honestly don’t think you get genius without crazy, like Mike Tyson, Van Gogh, Kurt Kobain etc
Your Parlay bet was not MMA On Point and got CRUSHED‼😂🤣😭 Jon Jones 1st Round Submission💪
I appreciate the rct2 meme reference.
Can I just say, you picked the exact same results as me in every fight? lol.
At the end of the video you wonder, as often we see in sports discussion, how great JBJ would be without the suspensions, etc. However, to deviate from such dominance should be seen as the norm, not the other way around. To actually compete at that level requires a amount of sacrifice that even the great ones sometimes can't keep. We think "if only JBJ stayed clean he would have 80 defenses", or "If only jordan didnt retire he would have 11 rings" and that is crazy talk... it's only natural to fail or falter when that level of excelence is expected. That's what makes the likes of GSP or Lebron James so great.
The coked out Michael Jordan of the Sport! Thank you Tommy Toehold for the Historic and Bittersweet Tribute to the GOAT
Imagine being that random dude who told Jon about that mma gym. One tweet sparks a legendary career
He's so great that he needs a part: 2 now. two weight champion.
Think Jon Jones will ever give DC a shot at unifying the double champ belt? With the new picogram ruling I feel like to retro Jones the lhw title and run it back would be the next step after Ciryl
every time i want something to happen the opposite happens. i wanted tony to win all his previous losses. i wanted izzy to beat pereira. i wanted conor to beat dustin. i wanted holloway to beat alex. so i have a bad feeling for jones but i really hope he gets the w 😭
Correction: Jon Jones won his "7th" (not 6th) title defense against Glover Texiera
4:00 football kick
“Dwayne the Johnson Rock” 😂
What has two thumbs and loves mma on point? This guy!
how many fighter have permenant damge from juced vitor... thats crazy
Just goes to show that too strict of an upbringing can backfire in adulthood... All about moderation and you gotta learn that young
So many people say “but he took PEDS” yeah and was fighting dudes who were also on PEDS and still kicked ass
He got caught, that's what matters. 'Everyone's on steroids' doesn't mean Jon is in any way excused or exonerated of cheating.
@@madgavin7568 that’s not the point I was making at all. The point was the dude was fighting other dudes who were also cheating and still winning besides a DQ

Can’t wait to see JJ and Valentina in person perform they’re best 🔥
Nobody here bashing him is perfect, dang sure not better in fighting. Give this man his props.
great cutting as always!
The MMA Guru is superior because he's a 1 man show and tells the truth like MexicanMartialArts teaches us to do
Beanie gang 🫱🏽🫲🏻
I still won’t believe it until Buff announces his presence in the octagon. There is still plenty of time for an arrest, a car crash, a weird police encounter, or a controversial test.
He's the GOAT right now but Bon Gamin is not a stepping stone, he's a end boss. This is going to be epic.
I wish I could feel this way but come on, he's walked through every badass the ufc ever had in his way. Gane claims to not even train so yeah I don't think he has a shot. He was a few punches from sleeping in the cage with Tai so yeah i just don't know. I think it's gonna be a lopsided win unfortunately but cheers! Enjoy the fight!
Gane isn’t a final boss someone like Stipe or Francis would of been
Think about it Gane lost to Francis who had a torn MCL and was wrestling
Quite the opposite. The Frenchman has just started dark souls for the first time.
@@mwanderer1 Still, his last few fights he didn't look too convincing, he's been away 3 years, AND is in a new weight class. With those things combined, there's so much that can go wrong. If Jones truly is at his best, and is able to move almost as smoothly in HW as he did in LHW, AND maintains good cardio, then I don't see Gane standing much of a chance. But that's a lot of ifs.
Hahahaha wow. Talk about being off base. Gane has a solid chance of winning but you gotta take your "Jones hate" goggles off. This is just another day at the office for Jones.
Nice
i wonder if the suspensions might be a blessing in disguise. all those fights that couldve been, would be a lot on the body and brain.
that kick at the end of his first fight was a clue
Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane will most likely be the most technical heavyweight title fight in all of MMA and I feel like whoever wins between them two it'll probably be by decision
Jon Jones did it again last nite by submitting Cyril Gane. The dude went up 40lbs to heavy weight. Now that Jon is back Im watching the boring UFC again. I do not consider his career a disappointment. IN fact, I think it was simply awesome. God only knows how different it coulda been without all the drama but it couldnt been much better because he never lost a fight. Jon is who he is and I can appreciate it ever since his domination against the Shogun, Im convinced hes one of the Goats incl Rickson Gracie and Fedor E.
Ironic af how much ppl praise Jon Jones , but condem fighters who have done the same things
Well not everyone beats their wife up until she's bloody and took steroids their entire career 🤣 but Jon always gets a pass
Mma fans are trash
hands down the goat🤷🏻♂️

I think all that time off helped his record, less getting his bell rung.
What gets me is the steroid/performance enhancer stuff…so are we assuming everyone is or has been on them or are we tarnishing those who have been caught? It seems like a general understanding that you can get away with it if your team is smart enough and you have enough willpower.
Everyone leaves Jackson-Wink on bad terms
I've been waiting for this....also he is his own worst enemy
He shouldve kept the nickname sexual chocolate lol
Went to the sports book in person...I almost put my money on gane but I changed last second and put it on jones :(...
I hate when people say "what if" in regard to Jones. I think all the wild legal stuff and the extended breaks is the reason he's so successful, not the excuse for how he could have been better
Damn the picks in the beginning didn’t go down so hot
Mark Henry hommage? XD
he was in his original gym in embedded… ? and its not disappointing at all. more recovery time less wear n tear should reflect better performance . jon doesnt even need to train technique just cardio and strength, its all mental for him.
