They were still canon when the Pentakill band formed, and clearly I don't care why Riot is throwing away their lore to replace it with a cheaper version for the old champs. Summoners are still a thing (and will be until Sona don't call you her summoner in her picking voiceline)
I've never played LoL, and I still love Pentakill's music.
