Lots of good music going on in the early 70's.

Chris Wood was an inspiration to alot of young sax players back in the day. Another musician who died too soon.

Those really were the days. Not just the progression of rock and its offshoots as fabulously original as they were and still are but also the aura, the tenor of the times. Very special indeed..

The amazing thing about the song is that last verse was written in the studio when recording the song and given to Steve Winwood when he was singing. That is why it is so different.

This song really elevates the popular music genre, feels more jazz than pop...very loose and unstructured, lots of improvisation; plus as Jone Ruiz said, these instruments are not common in popular music... I love guitar, but 99% of the time it's two kinds of guitar plus drums, and in addition to bass guitar and drums, this is using saxophone. piano, organ and congas... it really enlarges the world of pop music and of the listener, of course.

I have never heard this extended live version. Awesome! I grew up with the music of Traffic and other top artists. (Hint: This performance is from the same year I graduated from high school!)

The song is about the Glam Rock invasion during the 70s. Studio version translates better
