Hey girl, Imma eat your soul
I got this sword
Dashing, young and bold
Let's collect hearts on the way
Plus two, to you, in the evil bay
So hey girl, what should we do?
Get clues, drink some potions that are blue
Well, you know, there just isn't time
I don't got the time
I don't got the time
Oh, look up girl, show me what you have to use
(Right now I'd...) Oh, look up girl, show me what you have to use
(Right now I'd... I'd be the bitch, but I left you, I left you in the ditch)
(Right now I'd...) Oh, look up girl, show me what you have to use
(Right now I'd be the...) Oh, look up, girl...
Bite the line, remove the words that follow (This battle's narrowing)
Turn the key or in the mud you wallow (Hold off, I surrender)
Stay for me (Burning bushes may be cold as shoulder)
One door...
Flip the latch
Go on and catch the boulder
(Can't fake now)
Let go!
Step back, let go
Step back, let go
Step back, let go
Step back, let go
"All of those who took the rode before you,
they were possessed by the dark power,
but you... you shall do this alone
As you walk through valley of the gorgonian tempest,
the tri-elemental black darkness was engulfing the sovereign lands
Use the plus nine staff of the bobcat a voice said from above
Defeat the demon of rathcorf and you will restore peace to the land
and lineage of your blood"
Step back, let go
Step back, let go
Step back, let go
Step back
(Step back, let go, step back, let go)
One night, I woke (Say one more line)
With all these hopes (Stay for me)
(Step back, let go, step back, let go)
Say one more line
I believe there's meaning
No, I believe there's nothing
I believe there's meaning
No, I believe there's nothing
Stay for me...
(Step back, let go, step back, let go)
One night, I woke (Say one more line)
With all these hopes (Stay for me)
(Step back, let go, step back, let go)
Say one more line
I believe there's meaning
No, I believe there's nothing
I believe there's meaning
No, I believe there's nothing - Hudba
every single time i don't listen to DGD for a period of time and go back to listening to them I re-fall in love with them more and more every time
NiC ViCiOU$ that's so perfect now that I think of it. I'll always love them but I find myself binge listening to them for a couple weeks then I'll go back a couple months later and it's like every song is as goood as it's first listen. Like right now. Lol
omg.....that's exatly how I feel
Same, this is exactly what just happened to me... 2019...
@@MIMS207 Same fucking thing here!
@@swelkyx15 same thing but I'm from the future 2020, this is not the time period you wanna be in.
I just realized, "Evaporate" calls back to this song even more than the rest because of the layering of voices, including the start when Jon cuts in with "Step back, let go" in the background.
I love this band.
jon said in a few interviews that he really likes this song
he is not the only one :3
@@emhozk9424 exactly!!!
There's a reference to this song in projectile comet in secret band
The “step back let go” is from a few songs on this album actually
I'm from Cuba, I've never heard anything of DGD, I'm here just for the title of the song, but now, I'm gonna add this to my playlist right away. Amazing song
Wonderful
better add the whole album , why only one song
@@mixail201211exactly lol the whole thing slaps 🤘🏼
Well it was a surprise you were from Cuba! So how many brains do they have there, in Cuba?
@@originalparafan They have one, it is only if they live in america that they have two.
I love that this song evokes all that emotion then loops into an even more emotional outro song so perfectly. DGD has always had a way to weave together chaos with beauty and emotion no matter who the lead singer is.
If I could have heard this live, I would have cried.
Michael Dotson it was amazing. I remember seeing them in 2007, Jonny and Jon were going ape shit while singing this, mingus was slaying the fucking drums like none other and swan just stood there like a god
Jonny belonged with DGD and Emarosa 💁
Step back, let go.
Need to remember that sometimes. Thank you DGD for endless tunes.
Step back, let go
Step back, let go
Step back, let go
Step back
i beleive theres meaning no i beleive thers nothing
I believe its me and no one will ever stop me
STAY ONE MOORREEE NIGHT!!!
STAYYY FOR ME!!!!
this is arguably one of the BEST dgd songs and you cant change my mind
Hey you.
@@BrentTaylor-pc1ki ...... do i know u
@@rougecarpetdisaster lol
Backwards pumpkin song 🤘
This song has always been and always will be a personal favorite; the lyrics evoke so much emotion.
Dude yesss
That ending though. Ties into Untitled, almost shed a tear. :(
Actually, if you listen closely, it ties into "12 Hours, 630 Miles"
Khalil Washington I know this is old now, but I think he meant lyrically rather than musically.
Oh, haha Well, my mistake. :P
every time man..
*finds band through newer albums. then explores all there old stuff*
Reaction: J...Jon?....is that you?
god man, you shouldve ban to one of dgd shows when they had jonny. it was fucking nutts.
It still is crazy. I saw them last night and it was awesome! Like jonny was great but I feel like tillian brings something new to the band. All of the vocalists have been amazing though.
Shoulda been a fan from the very beginning poser.
@@jeffbell4434 you're the only fake fan here
Jeff Bell Nice gaatekeeping bro. Feeling better about yourself?
I recently went through a break up after being in a relationship for 5 years... everything on this track from 2:26 forward has been my therapy. Much love for everything DGD was, is, and will be.
~step back, let go
step back, let go~
xx Black Frost exactly why I love this song.
I've probably commented this everywhere on DGD videos, but yeah, 2:38 and onward is just ridiculous. The layered vocal tracks, the desperate lyrics, the melancholic (for lack of better word) instrumentals, and the singing itself. So much emotion that it's hard to not feel, especially with that squeaky whine at 3:14. In the 7 or so years I've followed post-hardcore/metalcore/whatever, nothing has topped it for me.
Know it's been a year but I hope you're doing good, bruhv.
Sad we'll never get another album like this.
I know I was just thinking the same thing
Right. WISIRO and DBM just bleed post-hardcore. Modern DGD is very catchy, but very formulaic, and loses the raw unpredictability that made these albums age well, IMO.
The actual band is an insult for dgd. This album is a masterpiece .
@@lavertu5711 agree completely I love dance gavin dance but I don’t like “dance gavin dance” if ya know what I mean
This is the best song they've ever done.
Step backkk, let gooooo!!!
15 years later and i still dont think ive ever listened to a better album, from front to back, like the orginal DTBM.
Like if you were listening to 'Suprise Im From Cuba' in 2022!
"step back let goooo"!!!!! the best everrrr
Probably one of if not the best DGD songs of all time. #2021
Nothing can top jonny in his prime with dgd
heroin
This brings me to tears it’s so beautiful
The ending when Jon Mess was screaming I BELIEVE IT'S NOTHING is actually from the intro song to Times New Roman ? Genius.
the intro song, Untitled, is actually the ending of this song but layered and slowed. I read that on Jon's twitter.
The most epic repeat album ever
its all connected, all DBM is calling itself the whole time. its a hidden masterpiece.
Probably one of the most underated DGD songs. Fuck it's amazing.
Step back LET GOOOOO!!!
Best Dance Gavin Dance song ever made.
yup
STEP BACK LET GO! STEP BACK LET GO! I BELIEVE THERE'S MEANING, NO, I BELIEVE THERE'S NOTHING. I BELIEVE THERE'S MEANING, NO, I BELIEVE THERE'S NOTHING!
how do u top this album
Tree City Sessions 69 ft. cyborg Jonny
Even they themselves can't top this lol
@@nickegofficial facts
how do you bring back jonny
if frank ocean or the weeknd were singing for dgd itd be over
BRO, THIS BAND IS LITERALLY A TIME MACHINE.
This song reminds me of The Legend Of Zelda series.
"Let's collect hearts on the way."
"Hey girl, what should we do? Get clues, drink some potions that are blue."
"The tri-elemental black darkness was engulfing the sovereign lands."
etc.
it is actually about that series, nice observation!
Is that where the dialogue comes from?
Truly a perfect song. So much emotion.
I believe there's meaning, no I believe there's nothing.
Who else is here after listening to Evaporate?
These guys are incredible.
Literally going to cry
I listen to dbm daily still, the album is that significant in my life. When i heard evaporate i cried, straight up, it was so beautiful
Dbm is my favorite album and listen to it daily , especially open your eyes and look north and the backwards pumpkin song, but evaporate was a huge surprise and made me literally start crying when I first heard the ending. Caught me so off guard
I've lost count of how many times I hit replay...
The ending. 'nuff said.
Hell yeah!
that "stay for me" at 3:12 gives me chills.
the whole song. 'nuff said.
This and the end of Necro's Decay by Alesana...!!!
@@TheAlicea413 uh, no. Not even close. DGD
I have this thing with this album. Where i take a nap at 4 pm, starting with "and i told them i invented times new roman". Listening through this album in my sleep. (I usually have vivid dreams) Feeling every aspect of what this album has to offer. Mirroring very precise what my dreams then proceed to animate. Every single note. Every single melody. Every single line. But then when i wake up... I always end up at the ending of this song. Always. I have this feeling, that this song will always have a nostalgic embracement for me.
I’m probably on my 7th thousand listen
I’m still here tbh
@@AndreyEvermore awesome
this is like the best dgd song ever. you have no idea how many times i used to listen to this at 17
i can honestly say there isnt a bad DGD song from the original line up.....they all are sex to my ears
this made my hips move uncontrollably lol
Weirdo
Such an epic ending/beginning to this album.
_sigh_ take me back to these days...
Everytime I play Zelda, I jam the fuck out of this, but this is a daily song regardless. Every member in this band goes hard af, drums, vocals, bass, and guitars. Many great tracks, but I really like this song in particular.
this song is really hitting rn
why is this album so pleasant over and over. fucking team dgd
+stephany arias Look up Downtown Battle Mountain II. In my opinion this is the best album they did with Jonny. This album and whatever you say is royal are good too. But DTBM 2 is really something special
+stephany arias dbm 1 is the best album fuck what you heard
dtbm1 is the best album period. Dont lie to yourself.
eh. i wish i cared but the way my brain chemicals work i dont give ashit
lol!
still a banger til this day 🥹 #2024
Oh look up girl show me what you have to use
Oh look up girl
this part always gives me chills when i hear jonny voice is simply beautiful amazing flawless i love it.
Never EVER get sick of this song!!!!!
Esta canción es el motivo de porque sigo vivo.
Love that this song starts at all angry and serious sounding, but then it gets playful, happy, and fun, but then it sounds depressing at the end
“step back, let go”
JustinH _fitness literally every DGD song 😂
In addition with Jon's repeated "I believe there's meaning no I believe there's nothing"
This song is sooo nice. The drums and guitar are epic and they compliment each other perfectly
.
0:00-0:23 this is what made me like DGD. They understood what it meant to be different. And use that difference to make exceptional music in their genre🤝
STAY FOR MEEEE
Let’s just all admit 2:38 is the part we all love most
one of my favorite moments of all dgd discography
true
The fucked up part is that it's not the lyrics that fuck me up, it's the memories i have while this song was playing in the background. I don't hear this song when I hear this song.
This song is so effing glorious....
Nuff said
step back let goooooooo step back let goooo oh ohhh that's my shit
got me to...
Always blast DGD when I'm not feeling good.
Still one of the greatest albums of all time
One of the best on the unique album, by FAR.
The ending to this song is my favorite dgd ending ever so much emotion was put into this song.
Such a powerful song omg,..
i really needed this song today.
its incredible how people make a song and make it this good!!!!!
I love the ending of this song!
fkn miss old dgd so much man shit still slaps used to love this album growing up
This song is amazing!!!
I saw these guys perform this in 2007. Johnny said he was having sore vocals at that time of the tour (a lot of us know why). DGD headlined the show but only played 4 songs but this was one of them. Pretty cool considering they rarely played it live
I have not found one song I dislike from DGD, such headbangers I love them aaa
First time hearing this song in years and it’s still fucken fire it’s a pleasant surprise finding old songs you used to love
I FKN love this band...saw em in florida
Sounds really amazing!! the best DGD ever
Anyone know if they will ever perform this live again? This has been my favorite song by dgd for years, and my dream is to see it live!
This is the Zelda-est song in the history of songs. It's a bit too screamy for me but the Zelda references and Jonny Craig's amazing singing makes up for it.
+Witness Me Oh my god how did I not realise this... AND Legend of Zelda? Must be why this is one of my favourite songs by them lmao.
How is it referring to Zelda? Plus nine staff of the bobcat, no stats in Zelda.
Witness Me Lmao a bit to screamy for me Lmao that comment was a bit to cringy for me
Witness Me screamo guy ruined it
I thought it was to world of warcraft
best song I've ever heard and likely ever will, saw them live at Vans Warped Tour in the Gorge, screamed for them to play this song, they didnt, but they played Lemon Meringue Tie and I told them I Invented Times New Romans and Open Your Eyes and Look North so that was good enough
Why arent more people listening to this song.!!!!!!!this has to be one of the best songs they made so far ....
Can't wait to see DGD next month! :D♥
Everyone is talking about these Legend of Zelda references and it's taken me 5-6 years to find out. GG :')
I wish I could replay 2:38- 3:23 several times without interruption. :)
my second favorite song by them
dashing young and bold dgd reference
I just noticed that. So tight.
Someone else who noticed it, glad I'm not alone
What gave it away?
How please explain!!
@@efrainnava7036 ..0:04 "dashing young and bold" =/
I believe in sleeping, no I believe in krumping
I seriously always get goosebumps at 2:38
2:55 are those the screams in "untitled" from the same album? also damn, matt is a talented drummer

Love this song!
the most epic ending to a song ever
NICE.
"I believe there's meaning, no, I believe there's nothing"
top dgd
Tri-elemental black darkness lol so many levels
Song hits extra hard the in the cold depressing winter time
how could you honestly dislike this song?
ze screaming is superb.
I believe there's meaning,
no i believe there's nothing!
Best part :D
Thumbs up if you give yourself a daily dose of dance gavin Everyday.
Stay for me
I like how Mess messes up the picture by looking away from the camera.
Now that I think about it, "evil bay" "dont got the time" yeah that does sound like Majoras Mask references. Plus getting hearts on the way and drinking blue potions is zelda stuff too
