Man!! That's a beast! What a great table! This video goes to my to do playlist. I'll definitely try to make one when I'll have some more space :) Well done, great work!
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
I need to make a welding table to go in my workshop at school. Now I know how to go about it! Thanks from the UK
"You know how I adjusted all those? These nuts" LOL killed me
Very very good!!!
What a great idea to be able to level the top. I used this same concept, but I used 1.5x1.0 tubing instead of flat plate for the top AND I originally used "u" channel, but it sagged on me. It wasn't super thick "u" but I never thought it would have sagged, so I replaced it with 1/4" square tube. Works great. Thanks for the idea!
I am getting ready to make a change to it so I can fold the legs in and then keep it out of the way in the garage.
Good video, I am lusting after that table.
One of my all time favorite videos on YT!
Thanks!
One of the best welding metal tables on youtube, great job both on the design and the build!
Wow, thanks!
I will have to make this one. Good stuff mate!
I have been looking at a lot of diy welding tables. Yours is the coolest design I've seen yet! And i totally subscribed.
Awesome!
Thanks!
Great welding table.
great. I'm making a similar, smaller unit. yours gave me a lot of good ideas.
Great music, attitude and concept of the table
Parabéns pelo trabalho 👍
Looks great
awesome work. thanks.
You earned my subscription this morning, thank you for sharing this build!
Awesome, thank you!
Beautiful piece of work!
Thank you very much!
Awesome, very clever mate. Thanks for sharing. Subbed
Someone who takes the serviceability of the casters into consideration, at last!
Most other welders on YT seem to hate screws so much, they weld the casters directly to the table frame...
;) Thanks for watching!
Sweet looking welding table!
Thanks, glad you like it!
Alsome table man, when you build mine don't worry about painting it, I can do that. Great job.
Nice build. I'm making a portable welding table using the frame of a folding table.
Real nice job on this! With all the repeat length cuts you're making on the band saw, you should make a depth stop for it now.
Yeah the saw gets used a lot more than what I first realized. That would make a good upgrade. Thanks for watching.
I’m into this, should work well!
Outstanding!
Beautiful work.
Thank you very much!
Liked the video, music ok, hair fine. Did anyone complain about what you were wearing ? Glad you made this it has given me some ideas for my table..
I saw video, where welder not wear gloves, wear T-shirt and protect eyes with cardboard. CARDBOARD! It was about making fork for bike.
That was excellent
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Одличан рад мајсторе!👍
AWESOME VIDEO MAN!
The music is dope too!!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Yep really liking your channel- you really have some great ideas. Thanks again. (Sorry so slow to reply to)
Amazing welding table and super Video! :-)
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
I need a welding table to build a welding table 😩
Concrete driveway!
@silver monkeyface i just put one together for free. Its not ideal and im going to uograde the legs to square tubing. But i got a really nice 1/4" plate then took apart an old bbq and oriented the legs too fit the plate. I had shorter scrap tubing so i reinforced it that way.
I need a welder to build a welding table.
@@jefflong858 I glad for you that you already have drill machine, band saw, threading taps and all kind of vises.
Sweet table. I have a cnc plasma cut table my self. 3/8 thick with slats for clamping anywhere on the table.
Have it on my channel if you wanna check it out
Amazing table great video thanks mate
No problem 👍
That table is sweet nice work.
Thanks 👍
Good job & good music
Love love love my fireball squares
How many do I should buy for this kind of work. 4 is better ? one is enough?
Thanks man for sharing nice ideas... Greetings from Philippines
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching!
thats a badass table!
Thank You
Nice work!
Thanks!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!love it
wow thats awesome
Thanks!
Nice little table.
Thanks!
Great job!
Thanks!
Watching here from the Philippines.
Thanks for watching!
nice qnd simple table
Thank you 😊
you did a great job!
Thank you!
Man that’s a nice fabrication table… I like how you made the table adjustable. I subscribed, looks like you’ve got some great content. This is my TV when I come home from work…😂
Thanks for the sub!
Very educational. I build mine based on this design. Work surface is 2000x1200 mm. Flatness is 0.05mm/2000mm.
What's the plate thickness ?
Perfect!!!! Much better than that round hole table design!!!!
Nice Job ,you just make it look to easy LOL thanks
Thanks!
Nice...great job
Thank you!
NICE and hell yes I will be building one for me...thanks
Thanks for watching!
Very nice
Thanks
Un artista !
Good job. Great idea using your clamps instead of having to modify them to fit into holes, not to mention buying a $400 Magnet Drill to punch all those holes. Liked and Subscribed.
Thanks!
Bob, firstly get a haircut. Secondly, why slats? Slats are totally impractical. Anything round will roll into the gaps and drop to the floor. So you can't put welding rods or tungsten rods or bolts on the surface as they may fall through. For a hobby welder just use a steel 1/8" plate. cut
Roger, firstly what does his hair have to do with welding? Secondly Why don't you worry how you have your hair. If you have any.
Do you have any other sassy fashion tips for the clumsy metrosexual man about town Roger?
@@M3rVsT4H Plenty but we'll start with the hair.
@@rogeronslow1498 Drop the hair, but don't drop the bolts.. Got it.
I see a lot of comments about the music or his hair. Why does it fucking matter what his music taste is or the length of his hair? God damn yall some hating motherfuckers!
Good video
Glad you enjoyed
I have a few of those Fireball Tool Mega squares. There not cheap but worth every penny!
Yes they are!
Hey mate I would highly recommend cutting compound with that bandsaw to make sure your blades last a long while. Great vid!
Thanks for watching!
Your welcome. Was a good watch
Nice nice very nice
Thank You
I think I found my new welding table design. Question: given the short length of the plate steel, would a center adjustment be needed to ensure level across the center and along the length?
Mate, that is a nice table. Can't remember where I heard it but someone smarter than me said if you can't make it flat or square then at least make it adjustable. Hope you don't mind but I am going to pinch a couple of your design features for a table I am about to build for my workshop
Go for it. Thanks for watching!
With those awesome fireball squares you dont even need the table. Just use the tabs and its going to be straight!
But it shall be not flat. Levelling tool also necessary.
This is awesome, I love the size, what is the overall size of the table height width, the gauge of the tubing and Chanel?
What a bloody good concept and even better fabrication! Brilliant! Have you noticed in the shots of you on the drill press how much deflection you are getting on the table as you drill? Is it floor mounted of on a bench? If on a bench then you could rig up an engineers jack under the table to prevent this, if however a floor mounted one then the only thing to do is find out where the flex is occurring, and fix it. It's in all likeliness to be the pillar tube being too thin, put a solid one in it! Sorted!
It is a floor mounted drill press. I don't have it bolted down because I need to move it from time to time. It does rock back and forth a bit when I use it because the floor is not level.
Making Stuff I could see it rocking around the clock ( pun intended) but it was the table deflection I was thinking about, as that's the cause of things not fitting properly when you are sure you drilled it accurately on a drill press but the hole ends up pissed. Watch your video back again Bob and see how much the table moves, certainly the whole thing moves around due to the uneven floor but you can see the deflection as you put pressure on the drill bit.
The 117 thumbs down are the mass produced junk welding table companies!!! Great project and its one of the better tables I've seen for DIY. I will be incorporating a lot of this table into the one I do. The only thing I'll be adding is a spot for two vices.
Thank you!
Boy, music reminded me on Red Alert playing :-) Good job!
Very nice table for fab work. Curious about your cost on this project. Also, what a great idea for making the top so adjustable to flatten.
It was about $250 at time of making the video. Probably cost twice as much today.
Nice video do something about the drill table
New subscriber, definitely gonna stick around for a while. I enjoy quality work, as do you it seems… who makes that band saw you have, looks very nice!
Found the vid
Thanks for the sub!
Cool...
Thanks!
I don't understand why someone would want to TIG weld that whole table but I really don't understand all the sparks from TIG welding it.I do like the design so much I'll probably build one quite similar! Thanks for such good thinking!
All I had at the time. I can't figure out the sparks either. It sparked really bad in the horizontal band saw project too.
@@MakingStuff I apologize if I came across as offense.I am a retired (plumbers and pipefitters)union welder so I understand why...anyway,I thought it a valid idea and may actually use it!
@@MakingStuff and thank you for the reply!
Wow thanks, exactly what I was looking for!
How important is that adjustability of the flatness you think? It could also be twisted in the diagonal.
It's not .003 flat like a strong hand, but for the type stuff I like to build it is plenty flat.
Well I just want to start learning to weld, just wondering if I should build this as my first welding table. The adjustability might be overkill or it might be very useful to adjust any mistakes I make away.
I just saw the speed square from the guy that invented then you can square out anything anywhere with the heavy duty speed square I need to get that in my tool collection so I'm not off when building something!
Yeah, they are great!
How long were the bolts? Do you find that is enough on your bolts? How thick is the wall on the channel steel piece? Thank you in advance.
nicely done! quick what type of band-saw table is that or is that something that came with the band-saw as a complete unit
thanks for sharing
Joe
I made the bandsaw from Harbor Freight portaband. czcams.com/video/SM15QfffC0I/video.html
I've watched this video several times and sincerely like the table design and intend to make one for my shop. Just wondered if you have drawings in PDF and a materials list available for subscribers? Thank you kindly.
The 3D Sketchup drawings are available to the Maker+ Patreons. It's not a set of plans, but you can get all the measurements from the 3D file if you know how to use Sketchup.
Nice build. Where you TIG welded the bolts to the slats, did it warp the slats somewhat?
Nope.
Just me, but wouldn't it be a little easier to have a bigger nut and bolt size? That way there is only one bolt you have to mess with and you don't have to also worry about leveling out the individual slat?
It's a great design either way.
Love it! Great idea and execution! Silly question about the Tig, but did you use the same gas for the mild steel as for the stainless?
@KonicavaBR Not sure I said 'active' anywhere, I just wondered whether he was using Co2 or Argon for both as there are lots of flavours of inert gas for different tasks.
I used C25.
@KonicavaBR Thanks for the clarification, although I'm not sure what your point is though. @Makingstuff has already answered my question.
Nice! What's the thickness of the stainless? 1/4"? 1/4x5" stainless stock ain't cheap!
I was just about to pull the trigger on a $500 4x8 ( smallest my local supplier has) 3/8 plate to make a fab/welding table. This will probably be cheaper and nicer to clamp smaller pieces with out trying to drill out dozens of holes in perfect alignment! Nice job !!
I’m planning the same dimensions 3x4 , would you consider adding another row of adjustment bolts midway through the plate ?
No, I've only had to adjust it two times since I built it. The only suggestion I would make is to use 1/4 inch thickness instead of 3/16 like I did.
How come you don't just adjust the wheels to level? I'm (trying lol) to build a table very similar. A friend asked me I wasn't sure. It is a great table. You make it look easy. Thanks, Tom.
The adjustments are to make the table flat, not to adjust the level. Thanks for watching!
Gosh do I need a new table for my everlast welders. I weld with both my mig and tig welders but just can't get the clamps in place sometimes but could if I had slats in my table.
I put off building this table for a long time and wish I had built it years ago. I use it all the time and clamp stuff to it other than just things I'm going to weld. Thanks for watching!
I love the bandsaw, is the rig something you built or is that something you bought?
czcams.com/video/SM15QfffC0I/video.html
Discovered your channel and have been hooked. It's 3am and I need to go to bed haha. Love your content, but what is the point on making each individual slat height/tilt adjustable on this table? What real life added functionality does that give you?
In case any of the slats ever get out of the surface plane. You never know what will happen when you clamp, apply weight, heat from welder, etc. I've only adjusted mine once since I built it.
Making Stuff thanks for the quick reply. That makes sense for super precise work.
Great video. Building a similar 1 myself. How wide a gap is that 1.5inch? And how wide are your plates? Cheers
4inch plate with 1 inch gaps.
Thanks. I have 5.11in (130mm) plates. Was thinking of a 1.5-2in gap (40-50mm). Having used your bench for a year now, is the gap wide enough at 1in? or if you had your time again would you make it wider? It will be difficult to change after I build it! Like you I have mostly woodworking G and F clamps and a few C vise grip style clamps
Nice build. I know this was a good few years back but thinking to more-or-less replicate your design as my first welding project. Need a good table and looks like perfect project to practice welding. I noticed halfway through welding the legs you switched from TIG to MIG welder. Any particular reason? Being a few years since this build, are there any design changes you'd recommend?
I had to TIG welded the stainless steel.
Heavy metal music riff interrupted by a chocolate frosted flakes ad.
I can't wait for youtubes replacement.
great video though. thanks for sharing it.
That's because they're greeeeeeeeat! LOL! Thanks for watching.
Lol, one day YT will look back like omg what went wrong, and it'll be corporate's fault lol
bad ass
Great video. Who makes the tool to hold the portable bandsaw?
czcams.com/video/SM15QfffC0I/video.html
Nice welding table. One alternative to the flat slats on top (to save cost and increase stiffness) would be some 50x25mm or 2x1" box tubing.
I would make something like this, if only I had some space for it!
Cheers,
Craig
What is the size of the bolts used on the table? Other comments say 3 inches but do not share the diameter?
I really like that table and would like to build my own how can I get the plans to show how to build it thanks 🙂
I don't have plans. The 3D drawings are available to Maker+ level patreons. You can get dimensions from the 3d drawings.
Are you about to provide all the lengths, dimensions and well as metal composition to your table as well as gaps and weld points.. Cheers😎
The 3D drawings are available to Maker+ patreons.
I do a lot of my welding outside as I have a small shop full of wood tools and saw dust and love the idea of a stainless table being it would be outside in the rain. Would like to know about what it cost to build. Overall I love it would like to know after 1 1/2 yrs of use if you would change anything
I would make the stainless slats thicker. I cheaped out and bought 3/16" because it was a significant price increase for thicker stainless. The 3/16th has worked fine with no issues I just would like to have a little more thickness to clamp to. Other than that, the table has been a great asset to my shop. Thanks for watching.
@@MakingStuff 3/16th is what I was looking at and 5 inches wide so that's good to know. thank you for your reply and keep the videos coming I really enjoy seeing what you will come up with next
Im welding newbie, as far as I can tell there's little use in having a mechanism for vertical adjustments, instead I think a couple of lateral extensors would come in more handy, but that's my unlearned opinion, what do you think?
@@nathanpiatt5001 thanks for the input, now I can see that for some very precise jobs it could be very useful... Not my intended line of work though hehe
I would like to know the make/model number of the band saw that you are using in this video. I am in the market for one but haven't found one online that I like. Great video by the way, Thanks
