  • Now that the Lions schedule has been released, many are looking at each game and reading up on the storylines that accompany the contests. So, of course we have to talk about the Season Opener on Sunday Night Football when Detroit welcome the Rams back to town. It will will be the first time since last season in the playoffs that the two teams have met, a game in which former Lions QB Matthew Stafford was booed a ton by Lions fans. Now, since this is a regular season game, many are wondering just what the team will do to welcome back their old QB? Will there be a Tribute Video? Jeff Riger tells you why there simply can’t be on the latest episode of The Daily Ticket.

    Why in the world would we give a tribute video to a guy who demanded a trade because he don’t wanna be part of our organization anymore!

      In all fairness Stafford gave his all and wasted most of his career on a loser organization. Anybody with his skill would've wanted a chance to prove themselves before their career was over. Especially a former #1 pick. Brad and Dan weren't here yet. He just went through Quinn and Patricia too. Him wanting out bothers me none and it got us goff.

      @@adamioppolo1884thank you but these clowns don't think about that! He gave us 12 years when most would have asked for a trade after five maybe six years of losing with shitty teams Goff gets all this praise with a loaded team if they helped Stafford like they helped Goff maybe we have a Superbowl! Another example Barry sanders and Calvin Johnson Barry was in London didn't even do a face to face sent a telegram from London saying I'm done with you guys not to mention how Megatron left but yet Stafford's the problem they gotta make it make sense!

    Tribute is stupid. He is still in the league, he won nothing for us than regular season games. His family I dare say has brought as much drama to the community as they did good for it. Lets boo the shit out of them, and once he retires, if he wants to retire as a Lion, then we can welcome him back. Detroit vs everyone, that needs to be the mindset to win. If you are not wearing our uniform, you are the enemy.

    There is no way in HELL we open the season with a "tribute" video to Stafford. For what? He did work, he got paid. We are even. He did not retire a Lion. We owe him nothing. I thank God Jamo kept the number 9. I hope he breaks records in that number so we dont have to remember the losing days with Stafford associated with the number. Stafford padded his records throwing the ball to one man the entire 12 years he was here. Results....NOTHING. We had more weapons than Calvin...... Lets Go Lions!

    Im not going to argue this point anymore. Stafford is a future HOF QB who put 100% of his mind body and effort into the city of Detroit. He has donated millions to the city. He is in the same grouping as Calvin and Barry. The Lions failed them. The only difference is Staff was able to leave. I boo'd him in the playoffs, but I look forward to cheering and thanking him for his years of sacrifice. Go Lions! One pride. To the superbowl yall!

    Absolutely do not give him a tribute video. When he retires then bring him in and do a little something for him. But he shit on the fans in his postgame press conference after the playoff game. I don’t even care if we give him a tribute at all to be completely honest.

    I just can't get over the fact that in the era of free agency, people treat football like pro-wrestling. Stafford isn't a heel and I'm not going to boo him. I reserve my boos for the refs when they blow it, my own team when they're failing miserably, or an opposing player when he does something unsportsmanlike.

    Riger, have you looked at Staffords stats? He's poised to become top 10 all time in throwing yards next season (he's 11th right now just behind Eli Manning). He's 100% going to be in the Hall of Fame when he retires now that he hoisted the Lombardi trophy. He's not "Pad Statford" anymore...

      Stat Pafford was hated by most Lion fans for not speaking out against bad officiating. During the Barry Sanders era. You could count on one hand, the number of bad calls against the Lions. After Sanders retired, my theory, the other owners declared a "cold war" against the Ford family for not permitting Sanders to sign with another team. Sanders had two great years left in his tank. All owners loved Sanders. When the Fords told Sanders, "You play for us", or you never play again. Understand the other owners made money off Sanders. When the Lions came to town, it was always a "gurantee" sell out. All fans of the NFL wanted to see Sanders live. The greatest running back off all time. The bad officiating started the season after Sanders retired. During the Stafford era it became fever pitch, it was simply beyond the pale. They invented new penalties to call on the Lions. Fans across the NFL were even noticing bad calls against the Lions. Stafford never complained in post game press conferences. This infuriated the Lion fan base. The Fords never complained. It's interesting Goff called out the officials in his post game press conferences after the Lion were ripped off in Dallas, after the legal two point conversion pass to Taylor Decker. There were, at least 40 games, the Lions would of won, during the Stafford era, if it hadn't been for intervention by the officials. Aaron Rogers use to say, "We start the season 2-0 every year. We know we get two guranteed wins against "that team" Stafford never spoke out against these atrocious calls against the Lions. Jim Caldwell was another coward. Jim Swartz was fired for calling out the officials.

    Why on Earth would Detroit consider a Stafford Tribute video? He has been gone 3 years he already got his Tributes when he was here in miliions and millions and millions of dollars without a Single Play off win. Nope. When he retires sure but now he is Rival no1.

  • @stevenbaffy7937
    @stevenbaffy7937 Před 20 dny

    I do not think that Stafford did anything to warrant a tribute video. His time here was not impactful in a lasting or meaningful way. He did not elevate the franchise, he did not win the division, he did not win a playoff game here. He shortened Calvin Johnsons career because he was a gunslinger with an ego that did not learn to throw with touch until Jim Caldwell and an injury to his hand came along. He asked to be traded and did not show loyalty to the team or fans when the chips were down. We don't hate him, we understand the why, but he does not deserve a tribute video. Did drew Beldsoe get a tribute video in New England? How about Cousins in Washington or Minnesota? How about Baker Mayfield in Cleveland? Deshawn Watson in Houston? I can keep going. He was a decent veteran QB that chose to leave and go win with another team, let them play his tribute video. You bet your ass Jared is our guy, just remember, Stafford chose this, he asked for this, he made his bed, now he can lay in it.
