    I argued this with another commenter on one of your earlier vids. There is no getting around it, there is no replacement for displacement. Everything that can be done to a smaller engine(LS), can be done to a larger one, and less hammering with any power adders will get you better results. Boost works on everything, I agree. But you have to use more boost on smaller engines than on larger ones, to get the same results, period.

    That graph on the 454 with the XE268H cam is the very reason why I chose to install that cam in my tall deck 427, because adding the Littlefield 8-71 is going to make foundation moving power for my tow truck. I wasn't wrong with my cam choice.

    This is so dang good! That Gen 5 made well over 1200 hp at 29 psi with a tiny flat tappet and 7 to 1 compression! Way better than the Big Bang 6.0 LS.

      It was way tamer than that 6.0 and the 454 is way easier to find and cheaper when you do. My point is that people act as though the LS is the second coming. But in reality most of the miscle car era engines are just as capable.

    ill never forget an old friend had a done up motor with an extensively ported head and he scattered it...the new motor had a stock port head. I asked why not port it? He said...its easier and cheaper to just run more boost instead. He is not wrong.

    • @lerabidheavy7437
      @lerabidheavy7437 Před rokem

      It is however by porting the head with turbos anyways less boost is needed to make the same power which means you can reduce lag and have a better low end due to the turbos not needing to spool as high and more exhaust flow to the turbine also means faster spool even with cams made for turbos you can make pretty big numbers as some guy with a ford 3 valve made just under 400hp naturally aspirated just by getting headwork with new tune and fuel system

    I am dubious as to whether the stock bottom end Gen 5 454 would be able to handle 20 psi of boost long term even with new rings. People think they can often build 1000 hp motors for $5k due to watching shows where guys throw together "stuff they have lying around". I'm not saying Richard's doing that here, he's a pro and demonstrating what is possible. However, you can have a low buck engine or a reliable engine but you cannot have a low buck reliable engine.

      @@richardholdener1727 So would 1 S475 turbo be able to support 1300hp on E85? Or what size turbo would be a good size running a single?

    Would this NA vs boosted output be the same with 350 ci vs the 454ci.

    You can make 650 hp with an ls3. And it weighs 200 pounds less

      @flattiresmisfires Před 2 lety +2

      But an ls3 doesn't make the same torque as these engines at low rpm. 650hp 540cid way faster than 650hp ls3 in a heavy car or truck.

    If they would give us higher octane rated pump gas we would have more options.
