- For the past few years I've flirted with the idea of doing something like this and I feel there's really no better way to commemorate ten years than this. I hope for what it is, you enjoy it. Thank you for being here and your support this past decade and for enjoying what I do. This adventure has taken me places I never could have expected or dreamed.

Hey dude, it's been 9 years i've started listening to you. I don't know what to say except thank you. You carried me during dark time, you accompanied me during good time. You were my friend during long night studying and boring day of work. You are a real part of what I am today. Most of my discography is from you, and I've been your solid preacher. I always love doing some boring things like studying or working from home because I always know that I will have you in my ears. I feel like I know you like a friend whom you talked to during all this years, and that you have been this same friend of me. Keep it up mate, will always be there listening to you! Love from France.
There are some people that when I see their avatar I immediately am reminded of friendship, community and conversation. I can't even tell you how many mixes seeing you comment on has made me smile. I'm really glad we've been able to share this experience together. I swear one of these days I need to set up some sort of world tour just so I can meet and hang out. Thank you for your support over the years. Knowing it's had a positive impact means the world to me. I love you too friend

Yeah, i think I can agree. It sucks on one hand to need that kind of stress and pressure to really push myself to overcome, but once I get off my ass and commit to it, the process is really very cathartic. There have been some of these mixes, god... I think it took me three years or so before I finished interstellar. So many hours just bashing my head into a wall over and over, then giving it up for a bit and heading back to it. But then... Years later, it's finished and that feeling makes it so worth it.

Thanks for making this (and for not editing 🙂) I so enjoyed the rawness of it. I've been listening to you mixes and following your channel since I want to say 2015 maybe....anyway I have enjoyed them immensely! I started hoop dancing in November of 2014 and by 2015 that journey had lead me down a "rabbit hole" of new music genre's. Your channel was, and is, special to me as I get excited to hear your new mixes AND to sit and stare at the beautiful artwork covers for each mix. I've danced and hooped to your mixes for a long time now...thank you sooooo much!!!!
Thank you for that. I debated on whether or not to edit those long thought pauses out or when I seemed to go out off tangent, but I kind of like it too. Homie dropping quotes. What is that, masterpiece sessions 2, lol. It's sometimes hard to keep them straight, but I think for so many of the mixes there are these sequences that have been super meaningful to me. One of my all time favorites is the last twenty minutes or so of Masterpiece sessions 5. Ending it with dust in the wind, maaaaan. That just makes me weak in the best possible way. Thank you for your c omment and your support. Knowing something I put out has stayed with you and has meaning means a great deal to me. I know on some level I will always be releasing mixes, breaks here or there to be sure, but as life inevitably does what life does, the inspiration to create will come. Thank you for your support. Has it been that long? I started listening to your mixes in 2017. I upgraded to YT Premium so I could background stream them while commuting. Anyway, they are my go to for listening to music that is not picked by a boring AI. Your soul come through.

@@confusedbi Thank you. I'm slowly building myself back from the ruins of my past self. Used to think that I was, if not indestructible, then at least very durable mentally. Turns out that, emptiness, numbness and unreality of the trauma of losing people that you love can just bury you under its' weight like a tsunami. And if that wasn't enough, then you can add the stress of having to fight people, who see someone's death as a perfect opportunity to line their pockets. Piece by piece, you burn yourself to get to the end of this and then, when everything's over you notice, that only a charred empty husk of yourself remains. I hope you never get to where I was, it's a soul shattering experience. To this day, I think of me, escaping that doom whirlpool, as nothing short of a miracle. Can't tell the exact formula for the cure, but I remember needing something to soothe and dissolve my mind to keep it off from being pulled in self-destructive directions. I always liked music for this ability to both resonate with my emotions and also transport me out of my headspace, especially in times when my mind gets stuck spiralling inward towards the void. There are times, when verbal communication holds no weight or power, while music can talk to you on a subconscious level. I think, it's the closest thing, we humans have, to telepathy. Back then, I was unconsciously looking for something that could help me to pierce through the veil of chaos and despair. Wanted to believe that, given time and effort, the seed of creativity can grow into a flower of life that can bloom even among the fields of death. So, I guess, thanks again for talking to me through your music and helping me to notice something that could help me save myself, even when it was buried in dirt and invisible to my eyes.

I think that's been the biggest reward in all of this. That connection I have with you all. We've all been through some shit and in some ways we've somehow gone through a bit of it together. That really was one of the big reasons I did what I did. It helped me, of course, but in knowing it helped some of you too, it compelled me to really push myself and see what I could do. Hey, Nick, it’s Nadine. We talked back in 2016 (!) when I wrote to tell you how much your mixes helped me while I was tapering off morphine and I was constantly in pain and dopesick.
Your triphop mixes were essential for my survival back then; they were the only thing that allowed me to remain calm, centered, and to eventually sleep. And even if I couldn’t sleep the music was enough.
The world is definitely a different place now. I’m using kratom for pain now but I still come back to the channel to relax and try to sleep. My partner died. I’ve lost a lot of family members. My mom died last week. It’s a different kind of pain now and I feel profoundly alone.
Thank you for still being here. As always, your mixes are one of the few things that give me any kind of escape, relief, peace - I’m not sure what to call it. Transcendence is probably the best word; you’re right about that.
I’m happy to hear that you’re well and your life is in a good place now. You certainly deserve it. And I’m glad you showed us who you are. Your face is so beautifully expressive. If I had any talent at all I’d want to paint you a dozen times.
I lived off of those Masterpiece sessions years ago. I heard Quintessence first (and it’s still my favorite) and then went back and found the first one with the Banksy balloon.
Please know, if you don’t already, that you’ve not only made medicine for yourself over the years but it’s been medicine for all of us, as well. I know you’ve saved lives because I’m one of them.
Where you are now in no way diminishes what you’ve created in the past and what it does for other lost souls, then and now. I hope you know that.
You are enough just as you are. You were enough ten years ago, too. You are beautiful, inside and out.
I get it. Sometimes we hate ourselves so much we want to climb out of our own skins. Relationships are utterly impossible because we have so much contempt for anyone who actually likes us. Gahhhh.
It’s the hardest thing in the world to crawl out of that and be a functional, balanced human. It’s good when we do, though. Even if you feel like it has impacted your creativity. Yes, it probably has, that’s not uncommon for artists.
But that’s also not forever. It’s like integrating multiple personalities; there’s a continuum. You’ll get back to that place and you won’t have to sacrifice love, family, or financial stability to get there. Maybe sleep lol.

Thing I love about CBMC is it has a beat running through it. It's hard to explain. But it's unique. It will be forever big part of the last decade for me. Nice to hear a bit of the story. And to meet you at last. I cant thank you enough for what you have done. That out of time hour is magic.
I know what you mean, but doubt I could explain it either. it's almost like a conveyor belt. I know that impulse behind it is me, but it's also a part of me that I can't put to words. These mixes, a way for me to access it. It's actually helped me overcome a lot of my own fears regarding it as well. I don't think I have ever expressed it as powerfully or as directly as I have in these mixes. It used to scare the hell out of me, but now... It's kind of nice. Frustrating when it feels like I can't lock onto it anymore, but I think the tide is turning.

The pleasure has been mine friend. I still remember the day I made that first it came from the 80's. Was out hiking in the mountains, sometime in October. The weather was changing, you could feel fall in the air and it made me just so nostalgic. All of these memories of Halloween came to my mind. It was always a special time for me and Horror is my favorite movie genre and of course the 80's has always held a special place in my heart so I was like, I'm going to make something to encapsulate this feeling. I believe I made that mix that night or the next day. I love it when it happens like that. Inspiration hits and you just go. Thank you so much for the support these years !!! I love your trip-hop mixes the most but the thing that attracts me most how you incorporate different styles and techniques. Not being limited by genre and giving us an experience that reflects you. That's the one that got me hooked.
That mix was like a three year long journey. I had all these parts of mixes that I was never able to fully integrate into one mix, there'd just be like 3-5 tracks that flowed together and I'd just get stuck and leave it for at times months and then go back to it. I remember when I finally pieced it all together I was so relieved. Mixed it in one shot and was like there we go... Finally done. I'm glad you enjoyed !! I've toyed with the idea of making another, but don't think I can really match the emotional content of that mix. Maybe one day...

Very early 2017 I was seeking for more Synthwave mixes and encountered the It came from the 80s mix and the rabbit hole mix hooked me. I think the A drum and bass Odyssey was where I really started to be fond of you and it brought me back from a very depressive phase to view the world in a better light. All the different genres included in your mixes made me actually explore them and find a lot of joy in them. I haven't been very active in the comments then but I have listened to almost every mix that you uploaded over the past 6 years.

Hearing you talk about the history of this channel, I realise I've been listening to your mixes for a long ass time man. Bumping them in my car and on trains and while working and just sitting in the dark sometimes. Some parts of your story really resonate, like I've walked a similar path in a different timeline. Your music has been a great soundtrack to both some highs and lows. Also introduced me to some great music I'd never have found otherwise. It's funny, I think I've only listened to that mix maybe five times. There was so much emotion going through me into that mix, sometimes putting it on it just brings it all up and I can't quite deal with it. The times I can though, it really makes is special. So nice to meet you, and get a chance to say thank you for all the great artists and styles you turned me on to. But more than that, thank you because your emotional/psychological journey provided a soundtrack for my journey through tremendous loss and change. You kept beats going through my own tortured creativity explosions, whether it was creating hundreds of paintings over the course of two years, or creating nine electric guitars during the covid year, when I'd never done such a thing. . . I have long periods where nothing happens, and there is no creativity, and I deeply doubt my existence. But at 64, I have learned, there is always something new that turns up to inspire me to re-explore what I know, and expand through that journey. I don't know what to expect, and that keeps me going.
Thanks for that. My favorite Oscar Wilde quote was something along the lines of, uncertainty is the very essence of romance. There's just something about not knowing what's behind the next corner, but feeling so compelled to make that journey that there is nothing in the world that can keep you from finding out. It's like there's this fluidity in not knowing, in not having things so readily defined. There's a freedom in that that just can't be found anywhere else because there's no need for it. ive been with this channel for about 9 years i wanna say. these mixes have been my go to its all the kind of music i like and want to hear. it has changed my life and dare i say saved my life. it kept me going, happy and hopeful over some years through dire stress and great depression. it all tells a story and carries us into our truest selves. we are all confused bi-products of a misinformed culture. im proud to say i am one too. this channel is fantastic thank you from deep within my soul for your musical efforts and artistry. you have brought joy to so many. that message of self actualization and awakening definitely transcends into the mixes. you can feel it and hear it. its phenomenal. you have brought me many great visions and dreams through sound. i will be a follower of your channel for as long as i live. thank you. 🙏💙😎
You describe that well. it's something I am aware of, but have always had trouble putting to words. There's just this moment in a lot of these mixes where there is an overcoming. A balance between conflict and resolution, finding that space therein to just be. It's a distinct quality and I notice it and am so glad you do too. That space that I am able to create, above anything else, that is what I look for in a mix. A moment where the madness ends and we triumph together. I used to get these very cool spacial lapses when I'd listen to a mix. I'd just be in the zone, vibing out to the music and one thing led to another and I'd just disappear. Sometimes for only a moment, others it'd be a solid twenty minutes or so I was just gone. not sleeping either, just taken away from it all. I'm really glad we could enjoy and hold that space together. Thank you for joining me on this journey my friend. Respect !!!

Thank you. Prior to this channel and some of the changes I made in my life, I don't think I would have ever believed I would have stuck with something like this as long as I have. Ten years is a long ass time and while things have changed a bit, I think that can just be expected with life. I do credit the multi-genre thing with being a big factor in keeping my interest as long as it has. Sometimes it is pretty exciting, the uncertainty of it all. Who knows what kind of DJ I will be ten years from now. Thank you for your support !!!

Can't remember the exact year I tuned in into your channel, but I think it was around 2017, but your channel is about the only channel I consistently connect back to and re-listened to the Hip Hop mixes all the time. They are all great.
It is fascinating to listen to you talk, and the one thing I have learned about life is that you only have two choices. Yes, or No. Each decision has consequences, but you own the Yes or No decision, so you just got to move forward, and learn to take your time before you make the next Yes or No decision in your life; but you do own that decision (even if often it often feels like you don't).
I genuinely appreciate your channel, and for that alone, thank you Nick.
It has been one of the greatest experiences of my life, no doubt. Glad to be here and that you were a part of it. What you said reminds me of a dream I once had. I was walking through a hallway and in that hallway was just door after door. I could open each door up and take a peek, but beyond that door was a path will all sorts of consequences that lay outside the initial decision to open "just" that door. It was like there was no real "right" decision, no good, no bad. Just a choice and by agreeing to one doorway I agreed to all of the other doorways that that one had opened. Hard to put into words, but it was a pretty impactful dream.
I appreciate your work on this channel. Your mixes helps a people go by their day day faster or get inspired. Keep up the amazing work.

Much like other listeners I consider your mixes fantastic and being a Bay area commuter myself, they have reduced the stress of getting me from one place to another.
I was listening to synthwave and finding some nice albums but your mix has really opened the genre up for me and are definitive examples of the music.

Been a subscriber for years. Always loved your mixes. Your channel was one of the first I ever came across that played trip hop which I had never heard at the time and was hooked after that. I was listening to you well before anything like all the "chill beats to study to" channels started multiplying. Best stuff to write to or do any other art. Tunnel vision for hours. Love it.

lol, I mean you aren't wrong. I've really thought about it and I just dont' see how without subjecting everyone to incessant ads that break up the flow of the mixes and I just can't do that. I am sure at some point I'll figure something out. really the goal is to just pay the house off and then hopefully do this full time as I'll have less bills to pay. I just need a cool 200 K. I think in five years or so I'll be there. Fingers crossed !!

I've always found doing live premieres of the upload can really connect to the listener. It's also a unique situation where you can live chat with subs/new listeners.
Thanks for all your mixes back in the day. The Trip Hop ones from 2014/15 were always a favourite coming back after working at the pub with the crazy shared household I lived in at the time. Reminds me of a distant time.

You have been along in every car trip I've brought my family on for the past 7 years at least. Plus the saved CZcams mixes I brought to work daily, and the thousands of hours of gaming, I've always brought Confusion with me. I'm so glad you stuck with it.. I remember in 99 having Mixman, various 303 sequencers and drum kit programs. Had the audio ins on my PC so still could use a neutral for vinyl. Won some contest through Mixman for mixing Madonna's Frozen. Still have the first Fruity Loops shareware burned on a CD somewhere with a few of those 20+ year old programs. I gave up music, always regretted that. Good to see you've rode this dream out.

This channel has helped me thru some rough times, and it's also been the soundtrack to some of the best times. There are mixes on this channel that I play so often, my brain can no longer tolerate hearing just one track from the mix, the expectation of the next transition is too strong. I've discovered artists from this channel who became some of my favorite sounds today. Over the years I've heard you gradually discover your creative voice as a DJ, while other CZcams DJs responded to your energy with their own voices, making it a conversation. I've been with you since about 2015 or 16 but quite possibly listened to everything you have uploaded,
I can honestly say your music has helped me through some very dark places, I've lost families, friends, partners and even children, I've struggled with mental health and drug and alcohol abuse problems, getting clean and sober, a few self ending attempts, and slowly starting over and finding myself and figuring out who i am.
Up until the past 3 ish years one of the few real positive influence I've had on my life has been music, and your channel has been one of my favorites to go to.
I love your style I love how you try new things and I just love the genuine passion you have for what you do, I think that's what makes you so good and it really does convey through your music,

Your mixes have meant a lot to me, some play on regular rotation (“Wind - A Tribal Bass Mix” is on the top of that list, surely, but also many of the Trip Hop mixes). It’s also because of your channel that I have started to make my own playlists and mixes a couple of years back. As a teenager in the 90s, I made mixtapes (on cassette tape) but fell out of the habit when mp3 files changed the way I listened to music. But I have always collected a lot of music and listening to your mixes has inspired me to pick that up again and compile digital ‘mixtapes’ for myself. It is a joyful thing to immerse myself in the music that I have known for decades, or go on the hunt for new stuff, and my mixes have become ways of expressing myself creatively. Thank you for the inspiration!

Sometimes for when I was chilling out, sometimes for when I was working on my own artistic stuff. I've discovered your music through the "It came from the 80s" mixes, which I've listened to a lot in 2018 when I started studying computer science and I've listened to retro synthwave while coding but I was itching for something darker with more edge. It was a horrible time but I always fondly remember the time I've spent bent over my laptop listening to those mixes.
After some shit I switched universities but stayed computer science. I'm really happy now with my studies and I've got a working student job in an IT company but still to this day a lot of the times when I'm programming I throw on mixes from you (though nowadays mostly Deep Dubstep, "Creep" and "Fugue State" are among my go-tos). I love the energy it gives me, the drive of the mixes is like an instant-motivation-button 😁
