Fossicking At Birdlings Flat New Zealand

- A long-time desire to fossick here became reality during our South Island adventure. The prevailing tides sweep all kinds of treasures up the coast from out of the rivers south of Birdlings Flat and they end up here for all to find. Agates are the most sort after along with rhyolites, epidote, and granites hidden within the other beach stones.
Tick this location off of your bucket list as there are pretty stones to find each time one goes for a walk along the beach.

If I had more time I'd be more selective looking for the beautiful agates that others have found there.

I like the way you seal your pvc barrels. Can you still buy them???
Plumbing supply stores have them, I got my pressure test bung via trademe $25 each in aluminum or secondhand in brass

I’d like to see you slow your panning, and practice where to hold rocks for a close up, and don’t wave your carry bag in the view
