Wow this is amazing with basically just bolt ons that even a DIYer can do. Damn 400+ HP that is sports truck range. Biggest thing that amazed me are how vital the coils are in HP and torque. I'll probably just change the coils myself for the crazy jump in HP and torque with those coils. 25+ hp increase is no joke for just a 15 min job.

So the most bang for the buck appears to be coils, tune and exhaust. I know the air intake and tune were done at the same time, but from my research, aftermarket air intakes don't seem to offer much improvement over stock air intake on the EcoBoost engine.

      c barteaux
buy a catch can, and a metanol kit.
Chances are that your intake valves have some coking on them.
Newer ecoboost engines have a secondary throttle body injection to work in conjunction with the direct injection to clean the valves up.
The methanol kit should clean it up while increasing your pre-ignition threshold.

Its crazy to me now days how little people know about engine's and how to make power. By reading these commits. Boost , timing and fuel just a tune alone you can get crazy numbers the problem is running out of fuel so for big boost and timing on the stock high pressure fuel pump you need to run methanol. Or pay 1500 for a more psi mechanical fuel pump.

I had a CAI, Tune, catless down pipe and straight pipe from there. The thing was mustang GT fast for about 6 months before it blew. Luckily it was covered under warranty but I'll never mess with the EcoBoosts again! A ford 5.0 can handle a few hundred extra HP with no issues the ecoboost can't.

I have still never seen an intake ONLY dyno for the f150 Ecoboost. Aka WITHOUT the tuner. I want to know if the gains are just purely the tune with the intake making zero difference.

Wouldn't it be both... you're tuning a motor that can breathe... it's like taking steroids and not working out or working out without steroids... you don't get the massive gains you want without both...lol

An intake will add zero power. When you need an intake is when you probably upgrade turbos in these trucks. 450 HP is no problem with the stock box and a better filter.

I never understood loss of HP from crank to wheel and why it’s calculated in percentage. If an engine has 100 hp at the crank and only registers 82 hp at the wheel, then it’s an 18 hp loss m (18%). However, if you that that engine up to 1000 hp without changing the transmission, drive shaft, or wheel/tire, why is the loss all of a sudden 180 hp? Why wouldn’t the loss still be 18 hp?

    • @GranatelliMotorSports
