🔷How do you Guys like to pass From Closed Guard?
I was able to do this move and I didn't know how I did it. It was by accident while i was trying to pass the guard. This video explains it very well so now I understand this. I'll use this and try the different variations. Thank you, Marcos!
@@living_with_intent Sensie please watch Gary Goodridge using a very similar technique Awesome .thank you for sharing you expertise and teaching and coaching Bjj i have only just come across your channel its AWESOME stay blessed from the U.K czcams.com/video/zlgNKJDp0vU/video.htmlsi=-GlPqXosAKJ9pe7W
So dope! I can't wait to try this in class! I usually do a knee split. I have long arms and legs, so popping peoples' feet apart while still kneeling is no problem, but the actual pass once they are open is always a pain. I like the idea of this Strong Pass because it appears you always have complete control.
I've been using this for about six months with a 90% submission rate as a white belt.... nobody sees you coming with this…. That is until Professor teaches the counter to this and now my Jiu Jitsu sucks again. 🤣🥋
Amazing BIG OSS
Try it on me
Ok, great to read this comment. I need to learn some for next roll
Thanks Greg! I will learn this. Thank you sir.
I can pass like a BOSS with this one…. That is until Professor teaches everyone the counter to this and now I’m back to being a pathetic newbie struggling to stay alive. 🥋🤣
1 year into BJJ and I've been struggling with guard passing, I tried this today in practice and it worked like a charm🎉 thanks!!
I trained with Marcos at MG academy. He’s an fierce competitor, a great teacher and a nice person. Oss Marcos. Miss u bud.
Yes sir! Exactly the finish I’ve been doing for 25 years. This is good stuff! Subscribed! 🤙
You know it's top shelf when Coach Brian subscribes to your channel. 👊🥋 OSS!!!
Coach B, hope you're good. How would you modify this for nogi please? Thanks.
@@London2ATL it’s almost exactly the same except you just start by grabbing the wrist.
💯💯
This is awesome! I am always grabbing the arm and putting under the back but often getting stuck during the pass. These details are going to help out a lot.
This is exactly why your channel has become my favorite jiu Jitsu library, the different variations, emphasis on details, and keeping the technique simple make all the difference. Thank you for your great content 🤙

Nice passing series, Thank you Señor 🥋👊🏼
Beautiful work
OSS! Professor. That sleeve detail is what I was missing. I kept hip switching and still finding myself trapped in guard. Thank you for the tip as always, OSS!
this channel is amazing!!
I like this a lot! Gonna try this !
I did it it worked! My first tap ever in bjj, 2nd day of practice. This will always have a place in my heart now
I'm adding this to my game and will try it the next time I'm in class. I will film, post it and give credit to you when I can get it. Thank you sir! This is awesome...
Thank you. As a close guard player this is good to know lol
Been using this pass (or at least my personal spin on it) for over 10 years now. Definitely my favorite way to crack a touch closed guard. I like the little details you show and will be trying to incorporate them next time the chance comes up.
Great advice for those having trouble passing guard. That said, I can't understand why people find passing guard hard. Maybe it's because I'm only 5'9" or something, but I barely have to work to do it.
I go low, letting them wrap my head down. Hand stuck up in plexus, other hand pushing their chin away, then quickly t-rex dig my elbow into their inner thigh, and as soon as it drops, I shoot my knee onto their thigh and it collapses from the dig/pressure of the leg. I twist a little, switching hands and repeat it on leg number two.
It's dead simple.
Sometimes, on the second leg, I take a wider stance and try and get a wrist or two to start feeling around for where I go next. I usually go for a elbow crank-like submission.
My favorite channel I was able to pull this off tonight thank you
Awesome this what I am talking about, BIG OSS thank you for the trust 🙌🙏
the cameraman breathing.. now u wont unhear it ;)
Ótima passagem ! oss
Just learned this and my success rate is about 90 percent. Its awesome. One dude was like, "oh not this again." Lol. I love the fake sweep into the Kimura finish. Epic!!

Big Oss!!! From Caraguatatuba!!!
fantastic😍
Soneca showed this one! Great details
Show, o interessante e que a 20 anos atrás eu fazia está mesma, passagem de guarda, o tempo passou o Jiu-jítsu evoluiu mas a essência e a mesma!
Maestro!! I used this since a blue belt and still works good!
Its Mestre in Portuguese, not Maestro, just an FYI :)
@@paulsacramento5995 I don’t speak Portuguese my original language is Spanish. I text “maestro” in Spanish. But, thanks for the correction.
I used to use this all the time when I fought MMA. I use it a lot now too but not as much I'm going to bring it back today at practice . I also show the person on bottom getting oma Plata. Love the channel
Thank you for watching yes works great, I will show in NoGi as well soon here BIG OSS
Excelente!! Oss
chicking wing (respect to PRIDE FIGHTING CHAMPIONCHIP LEGEND GARY GOODRIDGE)who did a version of this move but he used strikes and knocked out his opponent who only had one arm defence against his looping strike bombs this was shortly after shouting out loud as his opponent stuck him shouting "not enough, childs play" then Boom he let go some looping bombs against his opponent whos arm was trapped . Very smart technique i love it. Stay blessed from the uk Amen
True excellence!
I will try this on my next roll! Thank you!
Please do and let me know, thank you for watching BIG OSS

Love this! Professor got PH.D in jiujutsu❤
Bro thank you ❤
Thank you for making this! This is awesome! It’s 6am on a Sunday and I want to go train right now! Lol. I’ve been training jiu jitsu so for close to a year and am almost a blue belt(!!!) and I have pretty good strength, so you think this pass will work for me when I’m rolling with black belts?
yes it will work aganst anyone if you do this right you will get it trust me. black belt is not Invincible lol
This is great pass, I'll try. Thank you
But I don't see this pass on CZcams.
If this is the one of the best passes, why don't many passer do this?
What can the guarder do against this pass?
In my opinion (I would like to hear Marcos'), Sao Paulo passes are VERY skill-based.
When I try to pass closed guard by standing up: if I make a mistake, I can use my agility, athleticism, I can scramble to try to recover.
When I try to pass closed guard with a Sao Paulo pass, my fundamentals HAVE to be better than theirs. My base has to be better, my frames have to be better. If I have more speed and agility, but I make a mistake, I'm in BIG trouble.
I think most passers don't use this in the adult division at black belt, both because everyone is so quick, and everyone is so close in skill to each other.
Guarder can attack offbalances, armbars, triangles, and omoplatas against the passer.
I really like attacking with the Sao Paulo pass to test my fundamentals against my opponent. Also sometimes I get tired of standing up a lot hahaha
@@johnkoven3019 Thank you so much.
I understand it.
Today, I tried this pass but my base is not good enough to keep standing.
I'll practice it. thank you
Amazing variations! I struggle a lot getting out of the guard and somehow breaking the guard with the traditional methods doesn't work for me. Thx a lot I will definitely try these
give a try and let me know thank you for watching big oss
Great pass
I did this pass after watching the video. It really worked. I held thier arm behind their back pinning them down for about 4 minutes. They couldn't escape. I did end up in the position where i had them in fulll guard and hand behind their back but could get them to tap. Persons arm was pretty flexible. My professor told me afterwards while i was in 50/50 with my opponents arm behind their back i could have used my free arm to do a modified cross choke. Could you make a video or have already a video doing a choke from that position?
Hey absolutely love this channel only found it the other day. I have a question from an experience from what happened to me, when leaning over to elevate my hips to pass my arm through to grip his sleeve. The person used there free arm to put me in a headlock and finish. Is there anyway I can stop this? Thankyou 🙏
Absolutely lean with the shoulder into the person stomach or with the head in the center line of their body, so you block them from guilhotine you. Does this make sense? Thank you for watching
Another simple but effective technique to add to the arsenal of guard passing. Now to drill, drill, drill until it comes naturally.

You are SUCH a wonderful instructor Professor. Can you do us all a favor? Can you PLEASE do an instructional do a vid on the N/S choke where you go over the mistakes/problems/erroneous thinking that plagues this move. I am a blue belt who is about to turn 56- so, unfortunately, speed and explosiveness aren't exactly at the core of my game. I do, however, LOVE this choke (it's my favorite by far) but 98% of the time I find myself in position, holding the choke and...unable to get the finish.
I tripod. I squeeze. I move around. I grunt out loud, hoping to scare Uke into tapping 😁 but...no luck....
I am always so frustrated with myself and so dispirited that despite the fact that I act like I'm fine with it, I'm not. Oftentimes this is my ONE shot at tapping out someone better than I am- my ONE chance- and I blow it.
So could you (PLEASE) go through the various scenarios of what us N/S lovers face, what we are most likely doing wrong and what we should be absolutely sure we're doing as we try to get the tap?
Oh and lastly: please don't think I'm "that guy;" you know, the type of dude who tries to "win" every round, who counts his "taps' and celebrates what happens in class as if it's the Pan-Ams or whatever. I'm not at all like that and if I was it would be pretty sad as I GET tapped about 90% of the time (yes- I'm aware that I need to work on much more than just the N/S choke lol-- but since I DO somehow manage to get there occasionally, I WANNA BE ABLE TO ACTUALLY FINISH!).
Anyway so yeah: please my good sir, do a N/S tutorial where the focus is on what can/will happen- what to do about various things the bottom guy is doing to save himself and lastly what the person trying to do the choke MUST be thinking about- and doing- as he/she attempts to actually finish the move rather than just hold some kind of crappy, frustrating, stalemate-type pin while the bottom guy moves around and often times escapes even THAT! Uggghhhhhh!
Thanks again, Professor. You have an AWESOME channel and you are a natural teacher!
first of all thank you for all that haha i will do my best. i will work on NS choke, its schedule to show up anytime on the channel..but my humble opinion for you is learn how to let people move around without let them go completely, this will help you understand more bjj and submit them BIG OSS
I’ve seen this pass, but using their Gi to lock their wrist into place. Great finish!
I love this pass I use it, in Gi and Nogi on the daily... Smooth like butter nobody sees you coming
Wow. ❤
Great appreciation! A question:Sao Paulo hammer pass shows the head posting on on opponent left shoulder when going tripod and walk to right to get hold of his left wrist control. Your way is to post head on opponent’s right side. What is the difference? Any Pros and cons for the variation of posting head positions?
Surely you want to have your head on the shoulder as you said while doing this to trap the arm and avoid the obvious guillotine head lock he'll likely try to put you in. Because looking at this otherwise your asking to be head locked with his free arm (his arm must not be free to get the lock otherwise your in a spot of trouble).
Nice...
HUGE OSS!!!!
I hope you do a video on headquarters. This is a great info 👌 A-1🎉
czcams.com/video/K3BVpDEZyR8/video.htmlfeature=shared this might help you BIG OSS
Has anyone uploaded how to break the grip or defend this?
Any tips on how to defend the sub once stuck the in the closed guard position
Should do a series on butterfly guard, that's what I'm currently working on lol
What are you looking exactly? Big Oss
@@BIGOSS.JIU-JITSU anything sweeps, taking back, x guard and single x entries
Great ju-jitsu channel
thank you so much BIG OSS
I never considered giving up the mount to get the kimura. Mindful of the success rate of the finish if they try to frame up with the free hand once I took them into my guard…🤔
Love this. Question as a beginning white belt though, when you post on your head to the opposite side does it open you to the guillotine choke? Any tips on avoiding that?
i have to make sure the person is side ways by pulling their arm under super tight, he might pass the arm over my head but wont be able to finish the guilhotine tho, give a try and let me know big oss thank you for watching
big oss! :)
You know it! BIG OSS
Thanks for the great vid and the sneeky pass. Is it similar in nogi, only difference is the grip of the wrist instead of the gi? Thanks
yes you are 100 % right grips on the wrist, i will do a nogi version for you guys here BIG OSS thank you for watching
@@BIGOSS.JIU-JITSU Thanks for answering! Nogi is much appreciated
Elegant
In the first variation why wouldn’t you go to side control instead of top mount?
nice, but more impressive would be showing a counter to this pass once the arm gets pinned.
What if the man on the bottom attack with the guilotine? He does not even need another hand to lock it when having the gi. If he extends fast with the whole body the man on the top will either tap or let go of the trapped hand.
Fascinating, and effective. Any tips on staying motivated in jiu-jitsu?
Just the fact that you can dominate people twice your size or half your age should be motivation enough... how long have you've been training and how often do you get on the mat?
I espek yu naow. Than yu.
OSS!
Clickbait 😂 I'm here 🙋♂️
After watching it... My coach Marcio taught me this pass 💪😬🥋 I use it all the time 😎
Handcuff pass, or pressure pass
Oss
looks like you could be vulnerable to an arm bar on your right arm posted on the ground....if he traps your arm by swinging the right leg over your head, no?
I use the lapel to do this pass to then chain into another attack
If you use the wrist you will never miss this pass BIG OSS thank you for watching
How much would the pinning arm grip change in No GI??
I think with the grip on the wrist would work super well. I will do a video On NOGI VERSION BIG OSS
@@BIGOSS.JIU-JITSU thank-you so much for your great content!!
If i get this on someone ill let you know. Closed guard gives me all kinds of trouble
So effective and so annoying the guys that use these types of passes🤪
Legit question: Why is the bottom player not going for a guillotine or getting double underhooks for a sweep? Seems high risk for the top player.
It’s not risk at all because your bottom arm is trapped super well and you can’t do anything trust me haha thank you for watching. Give a try and let me know BIG OSS
I love to do this is it legit at any belt?
any belt for sure, Big Oss thank you for watching
Can you do this in no gi..?🤷♂️
Yes 100% I will film in Nogi too a lot of people are asking me Thank you so for watching
Good moves, but how do you avoid the obvious guillotine ?
Your arm is super stuck under and it’s painful on your shoulder, you can hold my head but if the person drive into to you you won’t get that Guilhotine for for haha BIG OSS thank you for watching
Are you at risk of Kimura when you pin his arm at the start?
Can’t happen I am joking his arm under his body he don’t have any lock against me understand?
@@BIGOSS.JIU-JITSU Hmm… Thanks. Will keep that in mind. Think I need to just keep replaying until I get it.
A nice easy 75 step process. 😂
I tried today, but I could not do it. The guy was moving a lot. Let try again on Saturday
Keep trying more you do more you learn around it BIG OSS thank you for watching
@BIGOSS.JIU-JITSU I just did today. Thanks you. I am so happy
What if he throws the guillotine?
He won’t be able to finish trust me his arm is stuck under his back, he can get my head but there is no angle to finish
