My capacitor was also a tight fit. Tapped the cover a few times with a mallet, it dropped out. Motor was just humming and would click off. Got same specs and physical size capacitor from Amazon for $10. Pump works even better now. Flow seems stronger than it has in years. I assume a failing capacitor over time reduces motor rpm.
@@Igotstaknowit I believe the capacitor is mainly to get the motor started but I'm not 100% sure. All I know is that, it is a great feeling to fix something yourself for such little money! Great job on your repair.
@jeremyg8568 I actually figured it out finally. The waterfall and lights use an old technology called X10. It uses the power lines to send the signal rather than any rf. I might make a video about it because maybe others may have the same issues.
I think the booster pump was set to on, but that can't come on unless the main pump is on. Power was off at the breaker the entire time I had it apart. Waterfall pump is not on a timer.

Did you say the waterfalls controlled by a remote? Is there any chance it’s picking up a signal from a neighbor?
I've been investigating this, and I think I may have figured it out. I gotta wait until it stops raining to check it out.
