Hey Mark. That was a great little tour of the edger area, mill yard, new loader and the slab wood bins. We are really enjoying the cherry log sawing. What absolutely beautiful lumber! Your choice of a new edger was a “home run” decision. It produces nearly perfect lumber. Your new CAT loader is a perfect compliment to your sawmill operation and has so much more versatility. You guys have really got things heading in the right direction. Have a wonderful weekend!
Volume is very good, Thanks for showing us around more of the yard, it's more education for those of us who are really interested how the entire operation works Have a great Holiday mark Sid
Thanks for the great video Mark! I enjoyed the walkaround tour. You and Eddie sure make a great team and I have really learned a lot from watching your videos over the years. Happy sawing!
I absolutely love your videos you encouraged me to get out and start my own sawmill up seeing all the beautiful lumber you make from the ugliest trees is amazing thank you for your inspiration
I'm sharing your video today with my Grandfather's brother. They all worked in the sawmills in the 1940's. He very much approves of your video. He especially liked Chewy and all your technology. He said he might have to come out of retirement.
It’s mid winter, everything is frozen. First thing in the morning, enjoying a cup of coffee and you go to get the loader started your morning goes down hill extremely fast when you see a flat tire. Hard tires aren’t so bad now.
My grandfather worked in lumber mill that was originally water powered. The stone wall that supported the 'race' is still there! The water dumped back into the brook just behind the mill.
You'll like that loader a LOT! My last 2 were a 115 Z-IV Kawasaki and a 980G Cat but the concrete plant had IT28 Cats that had that hitch that'd swap out from bucket to forks in about 5 seconds. They also has 2 seperate levelers because the mount angles on those 2 attachments were different. I miss burning diesel but not enough to try a regular job again. Still trying to get over the afib and congestive heart failure BUT the mower is waiting for spring with it's overcoat on. Me too and keeping the heat pump company. Good sawing and will be NICE stuff to be made out of that cherry. Thanks, Mark and crew and happy weekend! God Bless!
It is always good to see you. Low grade.............I did not know that there was any other kind. I used to recycle a lot of wood that the steel came in on from work. The one guy, that I used to watch, would cut big slabs and he would get so excited over the crotch. It is good to see people get excited over wood grain. I am glad that you can still find joy in your work. How nice to see Oscar back on the show.
Since you installed the new camera, Mr Laser shows up more consistently then in the past. I never considered the differences in saw dust granules between circular vs band saws. That is some beautiful cherry lumber, especially the last one you cut. Happy Holidays to everyone.
@@markgalicic7788 credit to you for making your work look easy and it’s not. Plus you keep the pace for the crew and make it safe as possible and smooth! 👍
Can't wait for the American Chestnut sawing, I saw a lot of huge logs of chestnut in the Swallow Creek refuge AKA Milk Sick Cove, in the late 70's that had been cut down by the CCC corps during the blight. One of the "Old" Men in our Hunting Camp was on the CCC had cut some of those trees down. They were still still 80% solid always wanted to get one of those logs to saw mill. John Toccoa GA
HI MARK 😊😊 uncle Rob was older than dad he was a sawyer also would drive the truck 🚚 😊 2 work and haul slabs home 🏡 😊 all year and cut them 4 wood as well round wood and that's how they had there wood 4 cold weather I also knew other Sawyers who done the same thing 2 have wood dads , Dads father was a sawyer also and he was still sawing when he was 70 years old I heard about it I don't remember it that be 4 my time I still can remember years ago U could go 2 the sawmill 😊😊 and get all of the slab wood U wanted those days are gone U don't see that no more 😮😮 it's past a shame I think 🤔😮 I put a many slabs on the truck 🚚 4 uncle Rob 😊😊 he would always shake my hand 🖐😊 and say thank U also I would clean up every morning where he the sawyer stood use a grain shovel it didn't take long 2 do so he was always a good fellow 😊😊 that's who he was sawing at at the sawmill and making the gm diesel 671 power unit 🎶 sing the sawmill song all day long U could hear every line he sawed singing 🎶 😊 good indeed uncle Rob would always shake my hand 🖐 😊 every morning be 4 we started work 😊😊 he was older than dad was a good fellow 😊😊 he went 2 work w his dad at the sawmill after he was out of school back then U only went 2 school until the 8TH grade 😊😊 OMG 12 14 2O23

HI MARK 😊😊 I don't see any red cherry 🍒 saw logs around here where IM at if there was it was be 4 my time most of the red cherry 🍒 😊 people made alot of tables w it I don't see any no more 😮😮 that's a shame mark red cherry 🍒 does look great and good when U see it not often now U can't get red cherry 🍒😊 at lowes 😮😮 there aren't none of the old lumber yards around anymore U couldn't get that at 84 lumber either now 2 day I don't even see none of those stores 😮😮 OMG 12 14 2O23
Excellent looking cherry Mark, I know from personal experience that things can go south in a big hurry when it comes to split and fractured wood and how hard a 5 or even 3 hp saw can kick you and even set ya on your butt. I would imagen that Detroit is more than capable of sending a projectile through the cab don't worry about losing a little bit of wood when comes to your life, you all are far more valuable than many logs.
Roofing stuff There are several varieties,, find the correct one for you. Ice and water shield that begins the lower edges of nearly all roof is peel and place, sticky back. It might make a very economical and easy water proof top for your wood bins.
I can see your laser easy today normally I can't see it I don't know if it's where you've made changes on your camera or where your log is painted green on the end but I can see that laser easy now
Love your firewood crates. I made some a few years ago. I would cut. split and stack my firewood in the woods and in the fall I'd stack it in the bucket of my tractor and bring it up. Then I got thinking if I made crates I could eliminate re-stacking it into the bucket, plus I could bring up 1\2 cord at a time.
Started watching your video at nine o’clock last night and fell asleep five thirty in the morning , nice surprise I get two to watch and one from Eddie must be Christmas,, todays job making trivets out of horse shoes for Christmas presents then I’m off to see my new to me pickup five years old and a third of the price of a new one , I only do about seven thousand miles a year now so it’s goodbye Toyota hello ford , thems very nice boards coming off the mill lovely grain and colour themed make nice wall panels, any way you guys have a nice day.
Been binge watching your old videos on how you put this all together. Quite interesting. I'm up to the point of the POW/MIA flag and the new 56" blade. I try to remember to bump the thumbs up button when the video loads to prompt the algo to suggest this to more people. Thanks for sharing.
For everyone that couldn't see Mr. Laser you could see it good on the end of the cherry log when he loaded it, it is green! I love the cherry would but i can't wait to see the walnut i have never seen it milled before Mark have you ever sawn any before?
I'm jealous! I've got an old cherry wood rocker that's been in my family since the wagon trains came across the US. My family settled in California but then moved to Eastern Washington, where I live in Spokane. I was rocking in my rocking chair a couple of years ago when one of the rockers broke. 😢 the cherry wood you get is the perfect match, but what I would get from the box stores isn't as salmon colored as yours. Shipping a 2x6 to make a new rocker from Pittsburgh to Spokane might be spendy, though.
When I was working for a living I use to have a sign on my desk that said “make only new mistakes”… my supervisor hated it but his boss loved it. Guess who got it when I retired? Being retired now, I make any kind of mistakes I damn well please. 😂
I thought you might have left the number 3 taper out. Usually you say "Don't forget to put the taper away". Happens to even the best of sawyers once in a while. No harm, no foul. LOL
Hey Mark, Larry Burrough. Your videos are always a hout. I love them all. I hope you and the crew have a safe and happy Christmas . I am begging you please, please, please paint the dogs black for a week or two. I will leave you alone until your next video when they are back to red. Mark, I’m Begging. Just for a year or two. Y’all take care, Old LB
Love the cherry! You will never regret those no flat tires. Nothing more frustrating than wanting to use a piece of equipment, and the tire is flat. Have you ever considered using wood heat to heat the kiln? A commercial mill in this area drys it lumber with wood fired heat. Don't know the ins and outs, but you have a ready fuel supply. Just curious is all. Keep on sawin'
They do it here in my area too, but someone needs to watch it overnight etc.. and a fire in a wood yard is not a good thing, many of mills have burnt down because of that.
You said you sell the sawdust for bedding; I was wondering if you also sell it to blueberry farmers? at least in the area I am from a lot of blueberry farmers use sawdust as a mulch to keep weeds down, but blueberry plants also like the acidity that will filter out of the sawdust over time. Anyways, keep up the good work with Eddie, and ZZ. Boom, Boom, BOOM!

Old trees, old rot, you can only try to cut around it. I watched some younger operator work a production mill, built-in edger and Lazer light show on the fly. Their conveyor and carriage is running at ludicrous speed. A bit fast for me.
Never get tired watching the sawing of beautifully grained and colourful Cherry.
very true.
Nice mini payloader ,l like your visibility when inside the cab!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Must be some good lighting. Mr Laser was clearly visible. For a while anyway. Lost it after a bit.

yes it is this was a standing dead tree , it's a sin to let it rot in the woods.

HO HO HO if better lol .

Does the saw blades for an operation like yours Mark get any larger?
BOOMAGE !! haha
for sure.
When you edge the boards does the edger calibrate the max width or due you set each one .? Thanks great videos

Yall should make pellets from your sawdust.
yes but it would cost more than it's worth.
I hollered at ya about the taper, but you didn't hear me for some reason.
I was trying to tell you, Mark, but the bus motor was too loud and you didn't hear me. I think Carl was yelling about it, too.
