'Jane Says' by them is a lot more meaningful and three days but they also had this crazy, fun side, also on 'STOP'
Probably one of the best songs about addiction along with Talks to Angels.
Stop is fantastic
Three Days is on my Top 3 All Time Songs list and has been for decades. A perfect song on a perfect album. True art.
the steel drum live version
@@Gekokujo76 Totally agree, and the live album version on Kettle Whistle is the best version.
The guitar sound on this track is so good, Navarro is one hell of a player
one of the reasons I got that Deconstruction album.
I saw a great breakdown of all the tracks on this. The percussion parts are killer too. Some of the best producing and arranging ever.
@@davidtingley9978 If only they listened to the percussion, baseline, guitar, and voice without the silly video.... they may have had a different view point.
@@davidtingley9978 Dave jerden was a great engineer 👍
@@josephlagundo5970 definitely.
It is hard to overstate how influential this band was.
…this band is so influential that Perry Ferrel, the lead singer, is the mastermind of Lollapalooza, and the exquisite guitarist is now the host of his own show, Dave Navarro’s, “Inkmasters”. They bred grunge. 🤘🏼
No overstatement could come close to how influential they were.
When I heard Nothing's Shocking in '88, it was a serious game changer for me.
Jane's Addiction had a massive influence on the music industry and the transition from 80's hair metal/glam rock into the alternative metal/grunge scene. But because the band imploded early on they don't get mentioned as much as other bands like Nirvana.
In fact the very first Lollapalooza festival was thrown as a goodbye to Jane's Addiction as well as being a celebration of alternative culture.
💯 they definitely set the template for a generation of alternative rock...so good.
For a couple years Jane's was the best, most dangerous live band on the planet.
Ive never seen Tool live and Ive never seen Jane's Addiction. Other than that, I'd be able to die happy.
Agreed. Even Porno For Pyros ruled, perry next band. Very creative and crazy guys. But after the year 2000, I don't know what happened to Perry and the boys...they completely lost it both on reunion albums and solo projects.
I'm not arguing with you but for me an unknown RHCP at that time was our thing. Both great bands
I rest my case. czcams.com/video/78Y-v5twoGw/video.html
he'll yesss. probably around 89,90,91.they kicked ass
Perry Farrell, the man in the stocking mask and lead singer for Jane's Addiction, was the creator and founder of the Lollapalooza Tours of the late 90's and early 2000's. And he can make a really fun video.
The best lollapalooza's were 91 and 92. Those were epic.
Went to Lollapalooza in San Antonio back in... 2004(5?). Me and friend of mine, got high, took acid, got drunk and saw Jurassic 5, Queens of the Stone Age, Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave, and final show was Jane's Addiction (all in that order).
It was a great.
This was one of the earliest rumblings of the alternative revolution that took over briefly in the 90s. Jane's Addiction, REM, the Pixies and Sonic Youth were 4 bands that started having chart success and brought this music to a wider audience, setting the stage for Nirvana's breakthrough. Faith No More's Epic was another song that cleared the way for mainstream acceptance of alternative music.
That was a great time to be searching for different sounds. I was in Germany at the time. I can't remember if it was before or after deploying to Iraq. What I do remember is that I was so thin and in shape. Now I am chubby, bald and ugly.
How about Pylon? The members of REM thought Pylon was a better band.
Product of the 1980s American underground movement, one of the most important (and least acknowledged by the mainstream) in rock history. With Sonic Youth, of course, among the most vital bands of that movement.
@@jackasswhiskyandpintobeans9344 Pylon was awesome! Crazy was a great song (and the original is much better than REM's cover). They were more challenging than REM, so it's easy to see why one band got huge and the other stayed underground heroes. That whole Athens scene was incredible. Love Tractor was another fine band from that scene.
@@normanleroy1874 I liked both REM and Pylon when young, but Pylon is more relevant to me after all these years.
That whole album kicks ass! You guys need to check out "Three Days" Awesome song!
Yes!!!!
Yes
You guys should react to…
Jane's Addiction - Mountain Song
🎸🤘
Three Days is the best Jane’s Addiction song ever written. Eric Avery, the bass player, wrote it. You won’t be disappointed!
I don’t get it. Some say it’s the best rock song of all time, which I can’t understand either. I don’t see how they compare to soul of Lynard Skynard, or Zepplin or AC/DC or Ozzy or Queen, or any of the greats. Maybe it’s like if you told you how Tiger Woods is such a great golfer, which may be true, but since I don’t like Golf, I can’t have an appreciation for Tiger Woods? What are your top five bands and or songs?
AC/DC is bar band garbage and has no claim even close to best song nor band.
@@jaeger251 I said it’s the best Jane’s Addiction song - not the best song of all songs. It’s my favorite song of their’s (not even close to BEST song ever).
@@jimbodavis1944 ok cool. I was just curious, because when I looked the song up, I read others say it was their best song, and in the sane sentence say it’s the best song of all time. But you are right, you didn’t say that.
@@robdaniel3211 AC/DC is garbage? So who in your opinion is in the top 5?
One of your fans - Norman LeRoy said it perfectly: "this was one of the earliest rumblings of the alternative revolution...setting the stage for Nirvana's breakthrough." Perfectly said. The importance of Jane's Addiction is that they showed there was a huge audience for music that didn't fit into the MTV - approved lens. They were one of the first alternative bands that reached critical mass. I don't listen to them as often as back then - but they were ahead of their time. I hope you do more Jane's Addiction and watch some live performances just to get an idea of how cool they were. Thanks for your reactions.
I listened to Ritual de lo Habitual probably 800 times over the summer of 1991.
@@bminturn I was one of those also... I couldnt stop listening to 3 days.... I remember the night it premiered on Seattle radio as I was driving to pick my girlfriend up from work...
I dont listen as often... but I dont listen to todays music as much as I do the 60's or 70's...
on point Mr Young... on point.
Yeah, when they hit the scene, it was just this SOUND. This undeniable sound that was just THERE. And it was a "there" where there hadn't been a there before, or a sound like it to be in it that spot. And it was great.
Gotta do Mountain Song or most anything from Nothing Shocking album.
I love Jane’s Addiction!!
Without Jane's addiction there would not be a red hot Chili Peppers
@@utubnagain but Dave came from Jane's Addiction and Chad Smith. The Chilli Peppers as they are and are recognized as is.
Jane's Addiction was a part of the 'alternative' rock scene in Cali in the 80's that included weird bands like Primus, Faith No More, Rage Against the Machine, etc...
If you guys haven't done Jane Says, you have to do that one. One of the greatest songs ever IMHO.
To me Three Days is their greatest song. Starts slow and gradually builds a massive sound of wall, all the while telling a story that critiques our family social structure and how it has changed over the years.
Exactly! That is a masterpiece.
“No herd to follow. Without game, men prey on each other.” True true. Great lyrics.
Awesome band. Perry Farrell has such an interesting voice and Dave Navarro is great guitarist. My favorite song of theirs is 'Mountain Song.' 'Jane Says,' has to be their biggest hit. 'Ocean Size,' is also worth checking out along with 'Stop,' and 'Classic Girl.'
Mountain Song rocks
@@mannymejia7972 copy that
@@mannymejia7972 My favourite too.
"Mountain Song" definitely!
What a way to kick off the 90's!. Man life used to be so much fun, what the hell happened to us?...
OK now react to"Stop" , The Mountain song, n Jane says" also porno for pyros " Pets "
Oh my god! One of the best alternative rock bands to ever do it! They are so fantastic and the lead singer is responsible for the Lalapalooza concert festivals that we've had for decades now. Just a very innovative group. Mountain Song is my personal favorite by them. Great rabbit hole to go down!
You can thank this band for Lalapalooza! Perry Ferrell is the mastermind behind that festival.
you can be sure these guys never heard of it
I had the honor and privilege of attending the very first Lollapalooza Tour in Atlanta, GA when JA was the headliner. Out on the lawn, tripping on acid...in the rain - total religious experience for my bandmates and me at the time!!!!! Their debut live EP, Nothing's Shocking, and the follow-up, Ritual de lo Habitual still rank among my favorite albums of all time! Their Strays album has some great songs too, especially "Just Because" but Eric Avery didn't play bass on it, so...no disrespect toward Chris Chaney though - I just prefer Eric's style, sound, and energy.
Their Nothing's Shocking, and Ritual de lo Habitual albums have a lot of good songs on them. Worth a listen. Also, they did a movie called Gift around that era. It's truly odd.
"Three Days" is one of the best songs ever written, IMHO.
Oh, and "The Gift"? Super nuts! Ice T and Perry Farrel....Oh to go back to that time would be the best.
Ive seen a lot of really odd movies (sometimes even on purpose), but Gift is right up there with the oddest of the odd.
Another great shoplifting anthem is "Shoplifters of the World Unite" by The Smiths.
also stealing food by jay foreman
The Smiths are a band worth reacting to many songs by.
Shoplifters of the world unite is a much better song. I love the living shit out of Jane’s Addiction, but it’s always bothered me that this was their breakout hit.
Check out Mountain Song, Ocean Size, Pigs In Zen and Ted... Just Admit It. The beginning of the end for bands who were getting contracts for the way they looked (big hair and make-up), instead of for their sound. Love me some Jane's.
OG twerker there in the pink skirt.
I highly suggest "3 days" by Jane's Addiction. Truly a masterpiece, and I think you guys will like it.
Try out "Jane Says" and "Stop". At their height, Jane's Addiction was a powerhouse of the alternative rock movement of the 90s. We can also thank Perry Ferrell for Lollapalooza.
These guys are totally awesome live. I saw them in 2008 and again this past September. Awesome shows. Please react or just listen to Mountain Song, it is my favorite Jane's Addiction song. Also Perry (the singer) created Lollapalooza.
i never really liked them till i saw them live.
This was my theme song when I was younger. When he sang, "hey alright, pumpkin pie", my friends used to sing, "hey alright, bud gets by".😂 I once stole us an 18"sub sandwich for us when we were hungry, in my trench coat. Gotta love the mid-late 90's, when it wasn't at all odd to see a white guy ( with long skater bangs) in a trench coat (and possibly a "lifes a beach" surf hat) at the grocery store. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
One of the best bands ever
JANE'S is by far one of my favorite bands. I've seen them more times than I can remember and they always put on an amazing show!
If you listen to Jane's, you NEED to check out Three Days and Then She Did.
Of Course and Then She Did are probably their two most underrated songs. Both are just perfection in my book. Three Days is a perfect song also....I count it as a Top 3 All Time Song.
Laughing or having a big smile is the correct response to this song. His singing is really unique and cool and the guitar is great and the whole song is great.
Cool guys, this is their commercial "hit", if you want to check out more Mountain Song, Oceanside, Pigs in Zen and Standin In The Shower...Thinking are all worth checking :)
Gosh I haven't heard that one in years, good reaction.
Killer song, by a killer band!
"Ted, Just admit it" This band is fricking amazing. I saw them in 88 with Mother Love Bone and Soundgarden. Best show I've ever seen.
That sounds like the best show that ever happened
Beautiful! Lex needs to explore these guys!!
Irresistible Force by Jane’s Addiction….mind blowing!!!
@Brad n Lex, so much fun to enjoy y’all’s relations. Thank you both very much.
I dig this song. My 1st request is Golden Earring Twilight Zone please
Seconded! Awesome song.
Great band! This puts a smile on my face....lots of good memories!
That intro clip! I love that you put that there.
👍 ;)
Dance like no one is watching.
Make fun noises like no one is listening.
*Should offer that on your store as a ring tone.
ALL I've got to say is this band changed my life when I first heard them in 1989...thank the gods for Jane's Addiction
I saw them in Philly in 97 or 98, with Flea on bass. They were great. Definitely one of the most interesting shows I've seen, with nude women dancing in cages. They have so many good songs.
I saw that tour (Miami), the girls in the cages were mesmerizing.
Shoulda done 3 Days, Mountain Song, Stop, Ted Just Admit It... So many great songs
I love their cover of Sympathy for the Devil. played back to back with Rock and Roll (first)... Chef's kiss
Lex's "noises" cracked me up Ha Ha Ha Ha!
Reminds me of the late 80s early 90s when, if you listened to the alternative rock stations, every song was a good one.. It was my happiest time for music in my life. I truly miss those days.
I forgot how fun that video is!...Saw Jane's in '91...One of the greatest concerts of my life ❤
90's alternative night club classic.. thats where you will appreciate this the most, with the whole room singing along! great times.
So many other great bangers from this band; mountain song, stop, three days, ocean size, and jane says. Jane says at the hammerstein ballroom is a great version.
I remember when I only caught the beginning of this song and heard dogs barking. I thought this is terrible! Then heard it a couple times. Then when it came on the radio I’d yell, “That’s my jam!!”
A MUST HEAR,, JANE'S ADDICTION "JANE SAYS"
Love these guys. Me and my college roommates saw them at Lallapaloosa 91, I think. It was a tough day to remember everything ;)
This has such awesome energy.
Three Days
Summertime Rolls
Stop
Coming Down The Mountain
Jane Says
Rock And Roll/Sympathy
Such a magical band
Reminds me of the road trip to Palm Springs for Spring break a couple friends and I took. we had the Janes cassette for "Live at the Roxy" (a music venue/club in Hollywood) cranked the whole time while riding out there in my friends old VW bus. Long story short, my one friend got hauled off to jail for being too drunk at a bar (and causing a scene) as they were leading him to a cell to "sleep it off" he was loudly singing "Piggy lead to the slaughter" - lyrics from the song "Pigs in Zen" Maaan, I miss those days lol.🤣🤣
Great band, the singer Perry Farrell is the guy who started the Lollapalooza music festivals. Check out their songs Ocean Size or Mountain Song, these two are more in the hard rock/metal style
“That explains how we got here today” 😂 It’s a slippery slope, for sure lol
The lead singer of the band, Perry Farrell, is credited as being the founder of lollapalooza in 1991
All I remember about Jane’s Addiction from back in the 90s is this song and also seeing a live concert of them where the singer was hopping around on stage naked with his wing-wang flapping in the breeze lol.
Love the video & the song. The characters were so strange & funny I loved them.
This is the most influential bands between hair bands in LA and the Grunge scene. This band is amazing. Everything about them. And the frontman started Lolapalooza.
This song was banned in my house for about 15 years. The beginning would send my dog into a psychopathic rage. 😂😂😂
Easily one of my favorite bands, albums and songs when I was in high school. It's still very entertaining to me that Perry Farrell wrote his lyrics by the paragraph - not by the stanza or couplet. Not only that, but the band's members never made anything quite as good as they did when Farrell, drummer Stephen Perkins, guitarist Dave Navarro and bassist Eric Avery were playing together.
Love this song! 😀
The anthem of Nordstrom flashmobs everywhere.
Great choice! I grew up to this jam!
We used to cover this and our drummer had an 8 pad trigger that came with a perfect replica of the dog barks. They have a few other tunes…eclectic some, but they were different 👍🏻👍🏻
When i lived on great barrier island 80kms off the coast of Auckland 1994/99 i lived in a 18/6 foot shed in the bush had solar power and a wicked alpine car stereo system 12volt when I would play this song my three bullmastiffs pets/pighunting this song would set them off funny as hell the first few times but got to the point where I couldn't play this song they would start to rumble each other . My mate's band RUMBLE FISH SUPPORTED JANE'S ADDITION when they played in Aotearoa New Zealand check out their current band THE CITY NEWTON BOMBERS LIVE AT GALATOS SONG TO HAVE A CRACK AT IS LOOKING PRETTY GOOD FOR THE NEW YEAR CHUR CHUR FROM AOTEAROA NEW ZEALAND
Shoplifters Anthem!!! 🤣 I currently work at Safeway in Hilo, Hi.... I will be sharing this with everyone here. Thank you. BLESS YOU!!!
Always trips me out when i hear this song being played in the grocery store. Like, "...Really?" 😆
I didn't discover Jane's Addiction until after they broke up. Now they're one of my favorite bands. Listen to The Mountain Song. It's so good. Great riff.
One of the best videos ever!!
The Drummer went on to play in Infectious Grooves aka Suicidal Tendancies, and the Guitarist later played for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
"Mountain Song" is their most rockin' jam. You'll really enjoy it.
Reminds me of my clubbing days! Great song to dance to.
Am I the only one that has Brad to thank for discovering lyrics that I never paid attention to in songs I’ve heard a million times?😆
Mountain Song, Ocean Size, or Jane Says. One of my all time favorite bands!
Their song Just Because, cool straight up rock song, Perrys great vocals, Navarros guitar is a headbanger
Such a classic!
I used to go partying at the Yucatan Liquor stand back in 91in Tampa Florida eve
Check out their song called Jane Says!
This song is their “fun” song. Definitely check out “Then She Did” and “Three Days” to see what this band is really about
Janes addiction is an insanely good band, please check out more of them you will love the insane energy
Try their the Mountain Song, they are a Force of Nature on that tune, gave me chills the first time I heard it. Enjoy! 🎸
They have a wide variety of sounds and are definitely worth listening too. A few that probably won't get mentioned as much are Ain't no right, Summertime rolls, Chip away, Pigs in zen, No ones leaving, Classic girl, and I would for you.
That lyric I don't walk 'right' through door. Then I walk right through door. Killer
Yay! A Jane's Addiction reaction. I really loved them back in the day.
Jane Says is a great song by them.
After Jane's Addiction broke up, Perry Ferrell formed Porno For Pyros. I was fortunate to see them in Chicago in the 90's.
Jane Says steel drum version is what you want - PEACE LOVE n HIPPYNESS!
Fun tune. Check out their heavy stuff “stop” kicks ass 🔉 btw, happy holidays ✌️
Also check out Jane Says, Broken people, 3 Days, Ocean Size and Stop from Jane’s Addiction
Great band!! Many great songs!!
Perry Farrell is the main guy who left Jane's Addiction and formed Porno for Pyros - 90's Alternative - pretty good but short lived. Pets for one is a great tune.
They groove
Jane says - the Live version. Is super good.
Janes! Great band, so much fun, this was one of their radio hits but personally I'd recommend something like Ocean Size or Mountain Song, and then maybe Ted Just Admit It, Up the Beach, Had a Dad, Three Days... the whole Nothing Shocking album....
Ritual de lo Habitual and a Bong are two things that can not be separated from each other.
Rolling Stone magazine did a great story on these guys in the late 80s or early 90s that sold me on the band. By the time I could actually get to buying an album, this was the new album at the time. I actually didnt care for this song, which was the first I heard from this album. Im glad I got the album anyway...this song grew on me enough that I consider this a "Perfect 10" album...and Been Caught Stealing is by far my least favorite song on the album. There really isnt a bad song on any of the first three albums they put out, for that matter. Im used to GREAT bands like Blind Melon or Modest Mouse being known for a "good" song when they have a catalog full of "GREAT" songs, but Jane's is a band that I feel is "known for" one of their weakest songs. PLEASE check out more Jane's Addiction...even if this wasnt your cup of tea. Try "Three Days" sometime.
i replied pretty much the same, this IMO is one of their worst songs, but id still rank it up there with the best songs from many other artists. at least its a fun one.
Love this song.
Love this! Jane Says next please
