  • You asked, I listened. Here's my personal care guide for my Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma aka the 'Mini Monstera'.
These are tips and tricks I have painfully learned with A LOT of trial and error. Over the past few years I have been learning and growing this plant which resulted in me having to have to re-grow this plant 5 TIMES! Now, I've finally got a plant care routine down to be able to grow it this huge.
Since I have gone through trauma with this plant I would (hopefully) save you all the hassle that I went through while taking care of this houseplant.

Lol, I can relate to root rotting Raphidaphora. My plant had "roots" that looked like a couple of 3 inch strings. I stuck it in 100 percent orchid bark mix in a last ditch effort to save it. 3 months later, I checked on the root system and to my surprise the roots had wrapped around the interior of the pot.
The 100 percent orchid mix prevented me from being stupid and water logging it. Oh and one thing I also did was stick it in a really small pot (suggested by Lee from "Kill This Plant").

Oh yeah I’ve definitely switched my Rhaphi to mostly orchid mix too! Makes a world of difference 👏🌿

Side note for anyone. Be careful when you let roots attach to the wall, it can ruin your wall ( they can go right into thr dry wall)

Thank you so much for this video. I’ve heard many ppl say this plant is easy, but I’ve lost 2 from root rot. I’m on my third one now & I’m glad that I can try to take better care of it. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much for all of your details to this beautiful plant.
After some struggling I planted my raphis into small pieces of pine bark chips mixed with a little amount of clay granules and perlite. They like this a lot and from this moment on their roots stayed healthy.
In the first two years I didn't fertilized them over the winter months and they stopped growing completely, so that it took very long and was quiet difficult to make them thrive again. Then I was told that the raphis always need a lot of food to grow healthy so they now get fertilizing sticks in their soil - even in winter - plus the normal liquid fertilizer (deluted) every two weeks. This was really a game changer for my planst, they now grow like crazy and even branch out. 😃🌿

Amanda: Happy belated birthday! I think that we all have to be detectives with our plants. No exact formulas. The conditions change from locations to seasons to even placement in your room. Good to know these tips before I find a rhaphidophora! 😊

I think I am on my 5th try with this plant. it's my favorite! I will be making that soild blend this weekend and give her a re-pot! I'm pretty sure all the other's died from over watering.

Oh man I feel your pain! I’ve been there. This plant has tested me so many times, and the biggest struggle was overwatering. I made sure mine was in a super chunky barky soil and it seems to be happier. So far so good!

Wow! It isn’t just me! I almost killed mine. I’ve been struggling with it for years. My last ditch effort was to water propagate it and now it is SO HEALTHY. I’m afraid to put it in soil. I’ve never seen such thick roots on any other plant I’ve water propagated.

Thanks for this vid. My plant has given me hell since I got it. The only thing that made it do well was PON, but I wanted to remove it out of that and put it in regular aroid mix. The person I ordered the plant from on Etsy was so kind to send me free cuttings to help me since my plant was doing nothing, and every cutting died. I got it growing enough to cut it in two places, those rotted in water. This plant does not like water even though it was doing well in PON. I am going to try air layering from now on. Foxfarm Ocean Forest soil is said to have too much nitrogen which makes the soil hot. I wouldn't; try the coco loco or happy frog instead.

Oh no, I’m sorry you’re having so much trouble. I definitely feel your pain with this plant. It’s so easy to propagate but really picky to plant and keep happy. Air layering is a good plan 👏👏 hope that works better for you 😊🌿

@@BotanicalBrunette I finally got a small left over cutting sitting in fluval for almost two years and I put it in a prop box outside and set it in fluval and fern fiber and finally I have long roots and three leaves. I pray it grows into a big plant. Such a gorgeous plant, but so delicate.

Do yoy ever used a water gauge to check moisture? It's been nine days since my last watering on my mini monstera. My water gauge says it was at 1.4 moisture. The guide that came with it said monstera should be at four. But I do live in a super dry climate. So maybe I need to adjust my schedule for the climate here? Or is 1.4 an okay level to let it get to?

If you think that plants difficult try citrus trees 🌳 🍋

Intersting. I find citrus trees and tetrasperma are very simple to take care of. I have a hard time with my monstera adansonii that is supposed to be easy.
