- in a recent interview for the program Red Table Tallk, when questioned about the state of her friendship with former co-start ,Patrick Dempsey, Ellen admits that they haven't talked since the actor left Grey's Anatomy in 2015. However, for the happiness of the fans of this friendship, such as me, Ellen confesses that she'll always have a speacial place in her heart for Patrick.

DemonThunder Wolf that’s normal he’s gone on with other projects as gas other actors that have left the show , it’s like when you work at a regular place when you go to another job only some times so people stay in touch you have no hard feelings your just leading different lives your work and home n family take up most of your time, there’s no crime in nit speaking unless you just happen to run across each other’s in town then of course you speak and a brief catch up that’s life

I remember meeting her. She was very kind to me, but she was on set for an interview and didn’t have to do anything other than that. But she went out of her way to call me into her dressing room after she heard I wanted to meet her. This was right after season six, so she was telling me about the difficulties the actor had when he played the active shooter. I was only a teenager at the time.
If there’s one thing I felt from Ms. Pompeo, it was a gentle authenticity. She is not an abrasive person but her aura is also confident. She really is a special woman, I think.

apparently its because Patrick is serial cheater and was cheating on his wife who is Ellen's friend for so many years on set. she finally got fed up and told Shonda she would leave if he didn't leave so Shonda killed his character. He wasn't very nice and made the set toxic

I am rewatching the show right now and I gotta say, There's no way that you could say they have zero chemistry. It's oozing from side to side. I couldn't explain really. I just know that hidden behind the amazing acting that they both performed is a box of actual fascination or longing or something intimate which remained unopened forever. IT WAS SO REAL

That’s exactly right she wanted the same pay as him.You got to remember he was a movie star playing on the TV show.we really didn’t know a lot about her until this show. And doesn’t that’s what she has an agent for it’s not his job to get her as much money as he does.There’s some other things I read that were interview she did she didn’t think his death on the show was any more important than George George’s death was bad in the way they killed him off derricks was the stupidest death scene I ever witnessed on television you have a star of a show narrating his own death oh let’s not forget about parking in the middle of the road looking for your phone. Ellen is a great actor and is awesome all together but there is a reason many people stopped watching after Derek died and the show has slowly gone downhill since then
No no, he got paid more because he was well known and had been acting for decades before, she wasn’t very known at the time. He was rightfully paid more, and really why was she complaining, she was still making millions. I wouldn’t complain with that much money, and there was also a reason behind it.
But he was a movie star before Grey's Anatomy. Nobody knew Ellen before the show so their pays couldn't be the same
Simple maths. This kind of show draws mostly women to the screen, most women are straight, so a gorgeous male lead mskes most revenue.
Only in a world where GA draws male / female oriented viewers in equal shares it makes sense to pay equal wages.

I wish they would talk again. I miss them together on the show and have to fast forward through parts that she or he was with someone else. Lol I know it sounds stupid BUT it took soooo long for them to finally be in a real committed relationship on tv.. season 5 basically... then tried to have babies forever after losing the one in the miscarriage. They finally built their dream home and started having babies and making a happy family & then he is killed on the show... I truly wish there was some way to make it possible for him to come back on & them get back together. Whether it be from her Alzheimer’s or that she was in a coma this whole time & wakes up and that never happened.. or that the president faked Derek’s death for trying to quit working for him and made him finish the job or go to prison? Idk.. hey! A girl can wish!

There was some stuff between them. I don't know the full story, theres lots of videos on it. But he was getting paid (quite a bit) more than she was, and she wanted to be paid more than him, because obviously the show is GREYS anatomy. And the show literally threatened to fire her saying that they dont need her. That patrick carries the show anyways. And I guess he didn't really stand up for her in that situation. I don't blame her.

He had an affair while on the show but not with her. It was someone behind the scenes, like a writer or something and rumor has it that Ellen said something to Shonda Rhymes and then he was killed off the show. So that could be why they don't talk.
Jill Hensley the affair was a rumor but not fact , he felt his storyline was where it was , they would now be happyily every after and merideth had much more story to tell in her eveloment of her story and he couldn’t just leave her and the children then their love would not have been true soul mate love so he got killed off , so he could go on to pursue other things fir his career and spend time with his family as it was his kids were growing up with out him being around much because the were on set iv heard several of the say 12 to 16 hrs a day and he and merideth are in every scene in some way or another so he was always there between his work and raceing it was time fir him to take a step back to give more time for his real family .

wildflower it came out as false, he left bc his mother died and his marriage wasn’t doing well I believe, he did it to spend more time with his family.
i mean the thing is you just dont get along with some ppl in a away that you would keep in touch with them after you quit a job. its like high school. except you dont really get to choose your friend group since you work together and are stuck with those people. and if you find similar people you are lucky. i dont keep in touch with a lot of the friends i had in high school, theres no bad blood but you just never were that close and the thing that made you close, in their case the job, ends and theres no reason to stay in touch if that was the only reason.
The thing is that rapid GA fans and especially the MerDer fan base believed that they where close friends at least I think of course they where at some point. However, Patrick had many issues like the fact that he was trying to do GA, racing and movies and that did not leave much time for his family. His wife filed for divorce because of that mainly. He had to give up GA and racing and just focus on one thing which is his acting and his family. I think it's a bit hard for him and Ellen to keep in touch because they both have their own families and let's face it both are aware some people think they should be together in real life so that they try to dunk those rumor and move on.
