The way she phrased her answer, she's supposedly talking about her entire family over the course of a long period of time.

This point is so important to emphasize. Look at the wealth gap for 2017, 2018 and 2019. Corporations get tax breaks while the working people pick up the tab for the resulting tax deficit. Corporations use those tax breaks to grow bigger, thus creating monopolies and stifling small businesses. The rich get ten times richer while the poor either stagnate or get poorer.

She can understand how a mom making $30,000 feels? She is so privileged that she has no concept of money.
And NEVER has. People born into wealth have 0 concept of what it means to be 1 paycheck away from being on the street. There was a show on recently about how billionaires spent time on the street and had 90 days to make a million dollars. Thier concept of how the world works was just unreal. For example one guy attempted to start a brewery but had nothing to pay his workers with for 3 months. He actually expected people to work for him for 3 months without getting paid. Now he acknowledged this was a lot to ask but you can tell he didn't comprehend what he was asking. Another good show from the UK put children of billionaires on the street for a few days and they all went into it thinking they'd get off the street within a day or two. Well you can guess they got a big reality check when the world didn't spread its legs for them when people didn't know who they were. It just shows how out of touch with reality these people are. It's like me going to Africa with the assumption I could move from my one roomed hut into an apartment if I just pull up my boot straps and get to work

Actually what he proposes is just to make the US a bit more European. We in Europe are now having a wider safety net for job losses and are therefore not so vulnerable to panic.

Regular people are annoyed with millionaires because rich people don’t pay anywhere near the same percentage of their income towards taxes like you an I. It’s not fair. Why should I give up 35-45% of my income every year when our rich millionaire neighbours are finding shortcuts and only paying like 10% of the their income toward taxes.
Sad thing is almost every political figure in US history was supported or was themselves a rich person or highly influential figure. Non were really brought to power from a grass roots movement. Even the founding fathers were really just a mix of rich, noble, and elite figures that took advantage of the situation to get what they wanted. Some like George Washington truly seemed like they actually wanted to represent what the preached. But even they were guilty of needing money and power to actually achieve anything. But I guess that’s just how power works. You either gain a huge following. Or a small but rich minority of backers.
Annoys me that Bernie hasn’t had more success in politics is because he is not corrupt, and doesn’t favour the rich and powerful.
He doesn’t just say what voters want him to say, he voices his opinion. He fights for people’s rights and improve quality of life for the less fortunate.
It has to do with the fact that people are too lazy to care about politics. Many people already agree with most of what he fights for, but he doesn't get enough coverage in the news and people don't care enough

I'm not a huge fan of Biden's history and politics. I think centrism is very dangerous. Unfortunately though, I do think Biden was the man to beat Trump. There were A LOT of die hard republicans that voted for Biden because they are sick of Trump and the monster that he is. A lot of them say that they're not too worried about Biden because they know that he won't kneel to the progressive side of the Dem party. Now for us Dem-Socs, that does suck. However, you have to admit that without the vote of some of those lifelong Republicans, Biden very well may not have the lead in all the important battleground states. PA voted for Trump last time around, as did the rest of the Blue Wall. All those people living there that voted for Trump last time still live there, and they didn't vote for him this time. I love Bernie, but this country just might not be ready for Dem-Soc. We desperately need it, but this is also a democracy (technically a republic lol) and you have to convince the majority of people that you will be their president.

listen here, the education system of america is broken. for 4 decades, spending has continually increased while student performance remained the same. problem isn't with the funding but with the fucking system itself. multiple attempts were tried to correct the system, ie establishing evaluations, teacher performance gradings, removal of seniority practices, a ranking system for teachers based upon student performance, etc, all of it was blocked. there is no accountability and it has been thr main reason for the system's decline and a major proponent to this is the strenght and power of one of america's richest lobbying group, the teacher's union. all attempts to curb their influence have been met with a variance of results, but in the scope of things, they still retain dominance over public education and whilist their practices are beneficial for teachers, they aren't for america's children as per the last four decades clearly shows. the solution is simple, we return the power to the parents rather than the institution through vouchers.
You don't have to be poor but you do have to understand good teaching practices, assessing laws that pertain to students with disabilities etc... None of which applies to her.

I'm so frustrated listening to her. More and more she shows she doesn't know anything about the job she's been nominated for. There's only so far you can take yourself by saying, "Senator I look forward to working with you on this issue, and BTW it was great meeting with you last week." Not once in all four videos I've seen so far has she answered even one question. It's always, "I look forward to working with you and exploring these issues together." She doesn't know the laws and she doesn't know the key issues involved. She sounds like the only thing she, herself, has been educated on is how to be pleasant. We need so much more than that in an Education Secretary!

You realize that funding comes through somebody being taxed for it, at the pump, at cash register, at county clerk... even if you don’t pay an income tax, you are taxed by hiding it in higher prices. If you would know what part of prices you pay go to these million government programs with millions of bureaucrats servicing it from those huge gov offices, with their bloated salaries and bonuses and pensions you would think twice about voting for yet another gov program “funding”. There is no free lunch, especially if you are not asked if are willing to get taxed.
