My favorite thing about living in the Midwest is that those fall leaves…yeah, they never disappoint.👌🏻🍂👌🏻
I’ve been shifting my seasonal decor style to a more sustainable approach as I found myself consistently buying new decor every year, only to get bored of it quickly and toss it to make room for the new season’s styles year after year. It’s wild to me to think of the amount of waste we create this way. This year, my focus is to honor each new season by appreciating its natural beauty and general energy. What better way to honor fall than to spend a cozy afternoon with the fallen leaves, shed from the tree to make room for rest in preparation of the new growth ahead.
Autumn invites us to change our colors so we may shed what no longer serves. I invite you, sweet friends, to reflect on this notion while working on this calming project.
Ok, enough waxing poetic. Now, let’s wax some leaves:
🍁Start by gathering a few leaves and give them a quick rinse to remove any bug friends or loose debris. Gently pat dry.
🍂Next, lay a paper towel or cloth on your surface to protect it from getting wax on it. Then, lay down a sheet of wax paper.
🍁Arrange your leaves, then cover with another sheet of wax paper, followed by another sheet of paper towel or cloth.
🍂Press your leaves using a low heat setting. The name of the game here is low and slow - I spent probably about 3-5 minutes pressing leaves.
🍁My tip is to work in small sections, as those suckers really like to shift around.
🍂Once you’re done pressing, simply peel apart your layers of wax paper to reveal your leaves.
Bonus is that, as you press the leaves your house will smell like fall- big win! You can use these leaves as they are for in bowls or strewn about to decorate your home. Or, you can use them in various crafting projects (more videos on that to come😉🍁)
