- Kopi Luwak or Poop Civet cat coffee is really popular in Bali and Indonesia. We found some poop coffee in Ubud to taste...⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇
Kopi luwak is the local Bali or Indonesia name, but it's basically a coffee that comes from poop from a civet cat! It's sort of crazy. The Luwak eats the coffee and poops it out, cleaned up and roasted the beans are turned into the local kopi.
Surprisingly the poop coffee is actually delicious! It's known as being the most expensive coffee in the world, and was definitely the most expensive cup we had at 100k IDR / $7 USD! Especially from a cat.
The shop is around this area: www.google.com/maps/place/Raj...

If your civet gives birth please send a kitten to India
Have to try a cup of that coffee.😁
I like how they don't put them in cages. Some places in Ubud put the Luwaks in captivity :(
These guys may be decent people but the poop coffee industry at large should be avoided. Despite the marketing, in reality, civet cats are usually kept in tiny cages are fed a diet solely consisting of coffee and live a miserable life. If that weren’t enough, the coffee they are fed is usually of terrible quality, roasted to oblivion, and stored for years on end. If any hint of quality existed, the roasting and packing process would eliminate any of it. If you want to buy expensive coffee, then visit your friendly neighborhood roaster, cafe or specialty coffee shop where the farmers are paid a fair price for the beans they produce!
Yes , some put them in cages ,and feed them only coffee fruit everyday. Those Civets are certainly stressed ,and surely cannot produce perfectly.....
I think I have to try it too. For what I know its expensive than the regular coffee. I love seeing you guys again.
It is crazy expensive - forgot to add that! Was $7USD!
Luwaks eat the best beans of coffee which is really difficult for people to identify and pick. Expensive it is!!
So cool you got to play with a civet cat!! 👍
Old mate at the Luwak poop shop seemed like a really nice guy in the vid! Awesome vlog once again
Yeah he was a really good dude, hung out chatting to him for ages!
I came across you guys just yesterday after researching ubud. We are heading there for the first time on Saturday, and your vlog has got me so bloody excited! Keep up the good work guys. 👍
Excited for you guys, you'll love it! Thanks for checking us out, we've got a good few from Ubud now!
I'm addicted to your vlogs, so amazing and fun, I really enjoy your style and the content, natural and authentic, well done guys - regards from Cape Town
Another entertaining and educational video. I like that you guys featured the locals and local merchants. Good job guys and please keep making and posting these great videos. Thank you!
Love when we can get some locals on camera, the Indos are pretty shy though!
I have heard about it! Very crazy but interesting concept.
Too much fun! We were in Borobudur last month and had the opportunity to try the "poop" coffee! It was tasty. Didn't buy any to take home though - way too expensive!
Crazy expensive huh! We thought we got ripped off, reading about it online we now know its the most expensive coffee in the world haha
Thank you Daneger and Stacey for your blogs! I'm planning a trip in September in Ubud Bali for a yoga retreat so I'll be checking every place you two have been which is very exciting :) especially the poop coffee haha!
Awesome that we could help plan some stuff out for ya! Have an amazing time, you'll love it!
Omg thanks for showing us the Mongoose! Love it! That coffee is interesting.
Such a crazy and cool experience!
Brilliant! Have to wonder how someone in the beginning discovered that coffee beans "processed" in this way would taste good 😀.
We definitely found ourselves wondering the same thing!
It's was some Indonesian workers for Dutch during the imperialism. They not allowed to drink coffee cause all the beans are exported to Europe. So the workers curious tried the beans from the Civet poop (because at that time poop doesn't have value) how the coffee tasted look like. Later become traditional here to eat those poop. Now because of the tourist tries varieties of coffee and style to drink. Luwak Coffee become expensive because of their authentic and the process.
you must try kopi asiang at borneo.the uniqueness is the coffee maker not wearing shirt when make coffee.
Haha definitely going to try that. Thanks for the suggestion. How long will you be in Bali till?
Luwak coffee is the most expensive coffee in the world. .
Belum pernah rasain kopi luwak asli cuma yang sering sachetnya doang 😁
The best indonesian coffe
Finally first to view. still amazing place.
Oooh so close Jun, think G B got it again this one!! Next time you got this. But you did earn this 🥈
Hi Guys, great video. We just left Ubud and visited a similar spot by the name of "Cat Poo Chino" haha. That name rocks lol, it was a Pretty cool farm. There were also a couple of Civet Cats that we were able to get a few pics of. Unfortunately, they were sleep when we visited. We found the coffee to be pretty strong but all in all it was pretty good. Couldn't get the fact that it came from poop out of my head the entire time I was drinking it...
Cat Poo Chino is an amazing name! We totally felt the same drinking it, thinking the whole time "this is pooooo"
Tenaj & Tino nice name..
better one catpo cino
Beautiful animals. They don,t run away at all very cute they not going to kill this animals for you they very. Expensive animals. Thank you for sharing.
lol next Time 🐸will be coming to steal your chicken sate hahaha 🤗
Nice guys. Bet the first mental moments of "I'm actually drinking poop" were interesting haha. I think those animals are called Civets. More closely related to raccoons. But they're so cute! Really love the weather when its hot and rainy. Unless you're trapped somewhere and it's too heavy so you have to wait it out 😂
Veeerrrryyy weird to begin with wondering what it was gonna taste like! Hot and rainy is all good by us for sure, so nice to not have to wear warm clothing and shiver... like we will in Europe 😮
They are called palm civets
Ah the classic mongoose poop coffee. I was afraid to try it at first but... it's surprisingly really good. We have that in Thailand as well.
It's surprising how delicious it actually is huh!!
Neat. Where did y'all stay while over there ?
I remember buying that coffee to take back home for one of my girlfriends and she was arriving back from Nepal and she brought me a notebook made from elephant poop and I brought her the poop coffee haha not planned at all but yeah thanks for reading my story 😂😂 haha thought I’d add my 5c on here lol
Hahaha the ultimate poop romance!
Daneger and Stacey 😂😂😂😂

@@krajca666 we have that in the towns of Amadeo, Alfonso and Tagaytay in Cavite. =)
Super cool
poop coffee is not bad! i've tried it! 😃 but I prepare the vanilla coffee flavor smells nice 😋
Didnt know there was a vanila one!
Cool. Nice video.
Hilarious!!!! That expression after sipping. How much does it cost?
Forgot to put the cost! It was 100,000 = $7.25, expensive!!
@@DanegerAndStacey for how many grams?
Please, can you write the exact name of this shop, and the exact address
Romantic 💩 ers?!! 😄😄😄.. here in the PH that is expensive up north the the wild cat called mussang eat the raw ripped red coffee beans just same.. they 💩 the locals collect them they process it. Just maybe the acid on the stomach of the wild cats help to give that distingth aroma☕ thanks for bringing us along ..more Positive vibes 👏👍
HAvent heard of the PH version before - seems like all of these processed via animals type coffee options are so expensive though!!
oh, we Indonesians actually also call this animal "musang", but the ethnic groups in Java and Bali Island commonly call them "luwak". Filipino and Indonesian language is more similar than I thought. And i guess this means that the Indonesian luwak coffee and the Filipino mussang coffee is actually the same because it's made with the same process using the same kind of animal.
Do you have any tips on how to maintain a happy relationship when travelling for long periods of time?
Congrats on the engagement btw and keep making videos!
It can be pretty tough - you spend . alot of time together. Best tip is learn to communicate more, dont bottle things up, be open and discuss 🤙🏼
yeah keep communication and avoid any "hot topics" ... any conflict can last way longer as you have no place where to run. My last relationship ended just because we didnt know how to handle it.
4:30 You're welcome.
We were talking about this coffee at work few months ago. That's the most expensive coffee in the world supposed to be. Was it good though?
Scooters on the footpath FTW!
Pretty Common when The Road is Very Busy, LOL
Name of coffee shop and exact location please??
Is this in Ubud?
This place looks decent, but please remember that many of these civets are caught unethically from the wild and kept in inhumane conditions, often in barbed wire cages for years at a time. They are naturally shy, nocturnal creatures and keeping them for tourists is just plain awful. Don't just take my word for it, find more information Bali Animal Welfare Organization, and please take care. These creatures deserve better than being exploited for human greed. Avoid buying coffee from, or visiting civet farms while in Bali.
Not only coffee beans but also they excrete a type of paste the perfumers use to magnify the top notes in a perfume that would usually disappear by the time it dries down
Wow, you learn something new everyday!
@@DanegerAndStacey and they also use the coffee beans that they poop out as Perfume base notes
Anyway to buy this coffee online?
Not sure about this place specifically, but lots of places sell it online
My guest want to come to here, please tell me where is it.or please tell the name of the this luwak coffee
I don't think it's there anymore sorry
GOOD NEWS I AM NOW A PLERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CHEERS
YYYYAAASSSS you are! You are our PLERO, thanks so much for joining the fam :)
What's the name of this café? Really want to go here specifically due to the fact it's so hard to find luwak places which don't cage their animals :)
It didnt really have a name, but check the video description for a link to roughly where it was!
The chivets have the ability to SELECT the coffee beans that have the best taste and aroma out in the forest or coffee plantations. That is why Luwak Coffee is very good and very rare. What is the point having Luwak Coffee if they feed the Chivets that way, the Chivets can no longer made the selections it supposed to do? LOL. That is a good attraction though, but that is not what it supposed to be. :)
Thanks for the info! Didn't know they had that ability
@@DanegerAndStacey Most welcome. 🙂
Ill get em next time 😏😏👌
My dog ate a whole bag of coffee 😭 I was sad and mad. She survived and the coffee from her poop still tasted great. I highly recommend dog poop 😂🤔😁
Luwak only eats the best beans. It will leave the bad beans.
He said Romantic poopers 😂😂😂
😂😂
I have civets on my rooftop. They have a smell of pandan leaves. One day, they pooped and dropped some of it on my front house street. Amazing. It didnt have a bad smell.
Hahaha thats hilarious - maybe don't try make coffee out of it though 🤣
@@DanegerAndStacey 😁😁 hahaha ... serious. It unsmelled poop. Pandan smell and unsmelled vegetarian poop ... maybe this make civet as a special animal to be an 'chewed operator' of delicious coffee 😁😁

Haha Indonesia has amazing coffee, it doesnt all come from a Civet 🤣
Why you laughing if they keep animals in captivity in small cages to produce that ! Stop pretending you don’t know about it
