I work at MHC Kenworth in Knoxville, I've been there a little over a year, do alot of clutches and input shaft kits. I've done a couple back box rebuilds on a 10 and 13 speed eaton, and one day I'm gonna have alot of knowledge like You and I'll start my own thing. Your videos serve as inspiration for that goal

Heavy truck mechanic here 24yrs in it, really like your videos and your attitude for this hard work, you got really lucky on this kingpin! A lift x was the first king pin i had to cut out and i fear them ever since, fitting everything before install is the key, great instructions. Keep on keeping on ol' boy!

Have watched several of your videos, very fascinating to see these huge rigs and heavy equipment as a "light duty" master auto mechanic that knows little about how big diesel are setup
It's crazy seeing kingpins, they did away in favor of ball-joints in automotive back in the late 1950's
I assume you use 20-ton bottle jacks and 20-ton jack stands

Where I used to work we made tens of thousands of king pins and draw keys and ball joints. We sold to Rockwell at the time, now Meritor and Eaton. Those pins are 4140 steel, core hardened to 30Rc and induction hardened to 59Rc to a case depth of at least .080
That's a small one in the vid, we used to go up to maybe 2-1/4 diameter and 12 inches long.

    That looked easy!
You have golden hands under all that grease and dirt!
When I had to change kingpin on my 35 year old truck, I made a tool:
25 ton bottle jack and 2 huge long u-bolts around that axle ( or how do you call that long iron beam from king pin to king pin?).
U bolts are pushing the king pin from above through a thick rod ( piece of grinded down kingpin from the other side ) , and down there they are connected by a thick iron plate on the ground, on which the bottle jack stands.
Bottle jack pushes the axle through a piece of thick wall pipe, inner diameter of which is greater than outer diameter of a king pin.
Then I heated the axle with a torch like yours, and smacked that rod with a huge sledge hammer like hundred times.
    No movement whatsoever!
    Like it was welded inside!
I heated again and again, hammered and hammered, nothing.
The axle is expensive, so I took a drill and drilled all the kingpin through!
Took me 40 minutes and 3 drill bits about 3/8 in your fancy inches, or 10mm.
Then I heated the axle really hard again, took really cold antifreeze from a freezer, connected a small hose to that the hole in the kingpin, and started to poor ice cold liquid through that hole, while heating the axle.
Took a hammer and with ten hits kingpin was out!
    I was so glad!
As you can see, I`m not native, I hope you can understand any of my crazy gibberish, haha!
    Good luck!
