My dad had a Chev that we took to Florida from Canada. Got great gas mileage because of a intake leak. When we got home it had burnt valves.

They use these smoke machines for homes too they are very useful for finding any leaks or holes
We had one or two in in the family,,,they only lasted for 40 years.
A must when looking for those Evap and gas cap off codes. because some rodent chewed hose lines on top the gas tank.
I started smoking when I was 62, never regretted it I qualified for an iron lung compliments of Medicare. Thanks joe

Hey Scotty that's a pretty good tester I like that. Also on motorcycles and cars I use a can of WD-40 leaking and you spray it around the air leak it'll make the idle go up on the car or motorcycle pretty easy to find earliest vacuum leaks great video love you content.😁😂👍👍

You should use vegetable glycerin. It's water soluble and safe to inhale. Non soluble oil vapor from mineral oil can be really harmful to lungs because when you inhale it the oil stays in your lungs. Smoke machines for concerts use vegetable glycerin or polypropylene glycol so you should use those.
Those two ingredients are also used as medicine carriers for lung treatment nebulizers
I found a leaky toilet with a smoke test one time and a vent pipe.
@@troy3456789 - - - No, they are not. Saline is used. Don't use any kind of oil. Your advice could cause harm to someone. (From me: respiratory therapist - board certified.)
Slap some vicks or eucalyptus oil in it. Find the leak and at the same time clear some congestion.
@@q7winq7 VG and PG are water soluble and not oils. 🤷

I don't smoke. I had a cigarette in my mouth around 1985 but I didn't inhale. I tried one of those smokers looking for a leak when I was getting a code in a 1999 Camry about evaporative emissions system leaking. Mine didn't have a fan so I used a squirrel fan for boat inflation and also a bicycle pump. The evaporative emissions system is more complicated than the entire fuel intake everything system in my 67 VW Bug. So much unnecessary junk. If U R looking for a noisy exhaust leak I made a probe with a PVC pipe and corner bend peace so I could probe the exhaust pipe and when I'm by the hole I hear it.
I picked up some special oil for my smoke machine at the local dispensary here in town. Can't wait to try it later.

My 1994 Finally Stopped Smoking. I just Added K-Seal in the Radiator and added water. I drove it for an Hour and it Stopped Smoking.
It can also be used as a Hookah. No wonder Scotty is so happy all the time 8-)

I would like to know how much film would be left inside the vehicle after checking the interior for leaks. I have a wind noise and can't find the source. Tried sliding paper around the windows and seals, no joy, but i think that smoke would quickly locate the leak. Thing is, I'd rather put up with the wind noise than have to clean the interior - especially the windows...

I usually call Cheech Marin to bring a blunt over for a smoke test.
Scotty, would you ever recommend the aerosol method? I know brake cleaner is harmful to paint, rubber, and some plastics, but the engine will noticeably change if a leak sucks in the aerosol.
Scottie has mentioned spraying with WD40 before and seeing if idle affected...
