  • (Part 2) Taking resistance readings on compressors and motors can tell us if a compressor is failing or has failed. It can also prove the compressor is good and the problem is likely somewhere else in the system. Knowledge on how to properly take these important readings on a compressor is the difference between a good tech and a great tech (good pay, versus great pay!)

    Note the shift in diagramming from the first part. This one shows a wye configuration whereas the first part was delta. I'm trying to figure out how this affects interpreting resistance readings. For instance, it looks like an open run winding to common in the delta config would not affect the reading from run to start, whereas in the wye config it also be OL or open.
