excellent review, thank you. I decided against the lone rider motobags because of their weight (and they aren't water proof...) - they are 30 lbs. combined...these are of the lightest I have seen that are of higher quality.

And to add… there is no hook point for sling option and not lock to prevent other people to dismount the bag without authorization.. not thoroughly thought bag

Huge improvement over the Sysbag 30s I had.

Very informative review. The back plates are not made out of steel, but aluminium. You can test this with a magnet. Aluminium is non-magnetic.

How rigid are the SW-Motech quick-detach racks? The ability to remove them seems like a great idea. I'm considering the SW-M racks with the Sysbag WP or Mosko Moto Backcountry bags. Mosko's luggage is heavy.
I've had trouble with Outback Motortek as well.

The racks themselves are very sturdy. The quick detach is great. If you go with mosko bags you’ll have to make some modifications to the sw Motech racks. I believe mosko has something about that on their website.

Nice review 👍 I'm leaning towards these bags. Do you know what the max weight the bags can carry?

    • @thedriftlessrider

I don't really have a good answer for that. I could only find a published spec on the weight capacity of the carriers and not the bags. SW-Motech claims the carriers can handle 27.5lbs HOWEVER, they follow that up saying that you should not exceed the load specified by the motorcycle manufacturer for the mounting locations. I have put around 10-15lbs in per side and seem to be fine. I'll weigh it after I pack for other trip to actually see how much I put in there.

Thanks for the update 😊 I tend to overpack my Vario cases, and the new ones are too pretty to be dropped.

Nice review. What if anything do you do for security?

    • @thedriftlessrider

Not much you can do with soft bags. I’ve got my lock box on the center rack that I’ll put important things in and lock with padlocks.

@@thedriftlessriderActually I see they do make straps called Steelcore which you can use to secure the bags shut and secure them to the racks...could deter some thieves I guess.

Would these fit onto Tusk racks?

You won’t be able to use the quick mount plate. But yes the bags by themselves will go on any standard rectangular rack system, you just have to figure out how to use the 6 tie downs on each bag to work for your setup.
