✍🏼You ✍🏼have ✍🏼.5 seconds ✍🏼to impress ✍🏼Sephiroth.
Blocking his first attack 1st try is already impressive enough for him i guess.
.5 of a second to impress
It ca be dodged two ways either through the reaction command to block it (although I've found it sometimes doesn't work idk why it sometimes doesn't) or if you're fast enough use the move you learn from upgrading wisdom form to dodge it completely
For me, the best part is the stunned silence as their brains finally catch up and comprehend what the *hell* just happened.
It was at that moment we knew we were in for one heck of a time.
Kratos Aurion Plays he pissex me off so hard when I fought him... Took me like 3 hours of retrying to finally beat him
And then we discover the data battles... and promptly throw our controllers out the window. Twice.
Happened to me too....
If you can't dodge Sephiroth's opening quickdraw-dash slash, you are utterly unworthy of fighting him.
This is square enix's way of paying respect to one of their most bad ass characters. Let him move into another game and shit on the MC lmao

“Yeah, he’s easy in this one.”
The best part is, that guy’s right.
He has been significantly nerfed since his two-hit, near invulnerable version in the previous one.
don't forget we have reflect now... if you didn't know, it's a super broken spell
That's true. I at least was able to beat this Sephiroth eventually. I never could beat the one in KH1.
Unless you are using reflect (which you shouldn't need to use to win quite frankly) KH1 sephiroth is far easier. KH2 sephiroth deals MORE damage, attacks faster and with a more varied arsenal, has an hp drain move you CAN'T interrupt (unlike the first one where you can negate sin harvest entirely), and teleports less predictably. In KH1 literally all you have to do to win is jump, hit him 4 times (he always teleports after the 4th hit recieved), dodge. Repeat until he's dead. Time consuming, yes, difficult? hell no. KH1 sephiroth is a level 60 fight tops, even with the kingdom key.
They buffed Sephiroth's arsenal, sure, but the insane mobility and utility you have now than you did in KH1 does more than compensates for that. KH2 Sephiroth can be completely manhandled.
Limit form only further reduces the challenge compared to vanilla KH2, where you didn't have a safety net form to fall back on - and arguably the best form at that.

KH2 in a nutshell: The thing you do in this game... YOU PRESS THE GODDAMN TRIANGLE BUTTON
Black Blade the meta is square and reflect for 99% of boss fights
It's weird but I went through the entire game never learning that XD
And a whole lotta mashing triangle and X
I should clarify, when I say mashing X I'm referring to the quick sessions of rapid tapping during combos. Though I do incorporate the occasional Square. Just beat Sephiroth on Critical myself, Ultima Weapon and 4 Ribbons. Does wonders for you, trust me.
I also learned a neat trick in that you can interrupt Sephy's ground combo (which he abuses during his "rage" phase) with the utilization of Counterguard. Fairly basic, just successfully Guard and then trigger the counter, he'll get staggered and you get to rip a free combo on him.
This is what happens when you don't understand how OP reflect is :D
Bobby Rare Reflect is best used against the orbs but reglect can be used here as well for extra damage and stun opportunity but it cuts sustain whichis necessary if you're as bad as these guys. Lol
the problem with newbs using it is, they have no knowledge of timings or attack pattern. they are unable to see how broken Reflect is, because they are too busy being one shot due to those reasons.
How OP is it? :P

POTZ Sephiroth in kh 1 casually teleports behind you saying decent heartless angel kingdom hearts 2 floats in the air and says it kingdom hearts 3 stabs you in the chest throws you in the air then casts heartless angel in a black feather that you have to dodge
Sterben06 Gaming yeah in 2, he reduces you to 1 hp no matter what health you are at and there's no way to block, dodge, or otherwise prevent it. You just have to either use cure after every time, or have an ungodly amount of potions. And also, 3 isn't out yet, have they released sephiroth fight gameplay for 3 already?
I don't think so
solidcake482 you can block the first move with triangle
POTZ when you fight. Him again press triangle as soon as the battle starts people sometimes don't realize it
I love that even though the Lingering Will is a harder boss, even he can't insta-kill you the second the fight begins like Sephiroth.
He can, it depends on your defense stat and the difficulty you're playing on. Lingering Will can definitely instant kill at the beginning on Critical Mode.
Neither can insta-kill you if you have second chance and once more which you really should if you intend on fighting any of the super bosses
Robert Anderson You are right but what he CAN do is immediately seal your commands as soon as the fight starts
Robert Anderson He can just use the punch attack and then go straight into the air combo and insta kill you if you recover mid air instead of taking the hits.
one time when ZeRo fought lingering will, he was killed before the hud even finished coming up lmao
You see when I played kh2 I was mashing triangle during every second of gameplay just incase this shit happened.
I beat him at lv 51, like if it was nothing. Meanwhile i didn't beat him on kh1, and i beat only one time Young Xehanort in Birth By sleep, with ventus only. I don't even know how you are supposed to beat him with the others lel
Andrew Callegher thunder surge and curaga for terra and dodge roll with aqua.
Terra also has a way higher block threshold as well as a lot more defense I found.
You’re smart
I wish I could have learned that like you XD
I love how Version2LP sounded like he was about to go off on a tangent about the game considering what "difficult" is lol
he's gay
I know right?
Thanks Version2Lp. Now I can salt my fries. Very much appreciated.
Richard Noggin Jesus, he's obnoxious. He gets so flustered after the insta-kill. "Is this game's idea of 'difficulty' an insta-kill the second the fight starts?"
Dude, you're fighting a superboss...
ikr
I mean, it's not even just that he's a superboss. The game gives you a means to prevent the instakill in the fight as well as two abilities that help out.
Pixel Perfect Not sure if it's one of the two you mean, but isn't Reflect basically a hard counter, as well? (Though that one may have been unintentional)
I get raging at a game, I really do; but complaining after death ONE. Like, come on...
poobumbutt I was definitely thinking of Once More and Second Chance as hard coounters to instakills. Reflect works but not in every scenario iirc.
I'd argue Reflect is definitely an intentional mechanic that just wasn't realized to be as OP as it was.

This is literally one of the biggest "gotcha" moments in games, but I fucking love it. It really sets up how much Sephiroth is not to be fucked with. The attack is only ever unfair if triggered in the sir since you can't block it there.
"Is this game's idea of difficulty a boss that starts with a QTE insta-kill?"
It's literally one BRIGHT GREEN BUTTON my dude, just be faster.
So this is a compliation of people who got this far in the game and still didn't realise Reaction Commands exist?
Right?!
They simply weren't ready for the fight to start off with such an abrupt one.
Most people weren't ready for that triangle attack
They were taking in the awe and the hype of having to fight Sephiroth and didn’t realize that this fight is unlike any other fight and as soon as you can take action at the start of the fight you need to react cause he will kill you. Same thing happened to me and shocked the fuck out of me. I played him a second time and realized it, but again it was obviously designed that way. I mean it’s not hard to understand that concept.
It’s a dick thing to start with, but then again, “reaction” is in the name. Gotta keep on your toes.
I survived that first strike only because of equipped abilities.
Even as a kid playing this for the first time, i knew to press triangle when i saw triangle on the screen.
It's hard to react to.

He LIVED????
My favorite part is when the music amps up, you manage to survive the first attack, then die moments later while the final words of that first verse “Sephiroth!” trail off as you fade away. It’s like a punctual.
You’re never, EVER, going to forget this battle.
You can say that again. I still have nightmares of the fight in KH1 too.
Imagine finding your own comment a year later by accidentally playing the same video twice lol

I hope he will be XD
Welp, too bad.

Nah, enough sephirot, bring Kafka

All the players just didn’t know Sephiroth and highly underestimated him

Oh I can't wait to see all the failed reaction commands XD
They’re dead when they fight the Lingering Will.
Sadly I never fought it. I bet I would have been dead though XD
trust me, you would have been destroyed, it's not fun at all
really lingering will is my favourite boss in the game he is difficult but not unfair in any way i never got angry fighting him ok 2 moves in my opinion are bullshit the punch and the whip could do without them
@@AwesomeDanielStyles Why the punch? You see it coming like 10 million miles away. He basically jogs towards you lol.

OMG LOL
One does not simply fight Sephiroth and be calm about it. I don't really understand why people couldn't hit that reaction command. I don't think they're bad players, and I get not expecting it, but honestly. Reaction commands are a fixture in the game and at this point in the game they've been used over and over. One would think after so much exposure (and the fact you're fighting Sephiroth, for crying out loud), your reflexes would be honed and you'd expect anything.
I couldn't either multiple times.
I had to mash triangle to make sure the reaction command registers, 'cause it happens so fast that even if you knew what to do, you'd still get fucked.
I get it man. Figuring out the timing of reaction commands was the hardest part for me, personally. Sometimes, if you do them too early, they don't work, but if you do them too late, they also don't work. This is especially true for the Organization XIII mushrooms at the end of the game. Fuuuuck. I hated those things, jesus.
Richard Sinclair
To be fair, a reaction command at the start of a boss fight paired with the fact that the window of time it gives you to press it is so small tends to throw people off on their first try. Myself included. I’ve grown up with the kingdom hearts series and have been playing it literally my whole life, and recently I tried (and eventually 100%-ed) KH2 on critical. When I eventually got to this fight, I knew what was coming and I still died to not reacting fast enough to the reaction command and had to mash triangle the next time I fought him.
Exactly.
He wasn't even the hardest boss (Mysterious Figure occupies that spot), but that part was complete bullshit.
Terrence Noran Mysterious Figure is pretty easy. All you need are surge commands and curaga.
I at least got that reaction command the first time I fought him. “Once more” is a must have ability for this fight.
"I'm ready for the worst" well, hey, at least he survived the first hit, the second one though... yeesh
Even on my first attempt, I KNEW to hit that reaction command.
Let's be honest, none of us pressed triangle on our first attempt 😂
I did i knew it was coming saw a video the second attempt i used reflect doe

I did but he killed the shit out of me right after

Even compared to KH1 Sephi, it's easier in 2. At least you don't have an invisible health bar LOL.
but someone told him he was COMPLETE pussy . too easy.
Sephiroth isnt easy but if you compare him to the other secret bosses in KH2 final mix he is actually a pushover. The others are way harder.

First time is so fast that you barely have the chance to press triangle XD
How tf was my 9 year old self able to hit the triangle reaction command but none of these dudes could.

Never thought I'd see myself in a compilation video but wow this brings back memories. I remember I had to grind to way too high of a level to actually beat this because of how bad I was at it XD

Ricardo Contreras I took no chances. I didn’t even attempt to fight him until I leveled up all the way and got the ultimate keyblade. I respect his character so much.. it feels nice to lose to him on some small level.
Hey this shows exactly why I don’t like Version2lp! In only about a minute of footage and he was complaining the whole time 😆
Yeah same. It's a platinum fight, you gotta know it's gonna be a challenge and him basically calling the game unfair because his reactions weren't quick enough is really annoying.
"iS tHaT tHiS gAmeS dEfInItIoN oF dIfFiCuLt"
Gamelover254 it's also funny that his complaint is the boss starting with an instakill, when in reality that first attack only kills you if you're underleveled, which one of the other players proves. And even then, it won't even hit you if you use the reaction command, like the game's been training you to do in every single fight.
Memento Mori or are unable to spam triangle as the fight starts to avoid damage
Memento Mori turns out if you play smart you can avoid most of if not all damage

Meanwhile Cloud is sitting back on the cliff watching these noobs get pwned and chowing down on popcorn, thankful he doesn't have to fight the silver-haired warrior for once.
Most of them just cant get to the part where the choir starts singing.
the funniest part is that he simply used scintilla and NOBODY saw that coming
Sephiroth: Huh. Always wondered why people never use their strongest attack first.
Im wondering how I was able to react to that opening triangle the first time when I was like 12.
If i played it blind now im like 90% sure I wouldnt have reacted
Supposedly aging dulls reaction times or something I guess. I feel like my reaction times as a kid were a lot better as well.
Not only does aging affect the reaction speed, we also have less(fewer?) time to play games (work vs school) and thus our skills become even more rusty.
I was young and I still didn’t react. I was taking it all in, the joy of fighting Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts and by the time I realized hey there’s a reaction button going off, it was too late, I was already dead
before i finish this video, do they all just simply miss the initial reaction command.
I remember years ago trying to beat sephiroth as a kid. Spent SO LONG trying to figure out his patterns until i finaly defeated him. The sheer amount of happiness was unfathomable
