    Also, just a little recommendation, Adam. Every time you throw your end-of-round stats up they get blocked by the "pop-ups" for the next videos suggestion in the bottom left and right. Agree with your take! If I cannot find a ball that would otherwise EASILY be found in a tournament then I call it a "gallery ball" and drop with no penalty. My thought process is that a crowd/gallery would find it if it were a tournament so I will drop in the general vicinity. A little more generous than your case but still

    That’s awesome of them to take you along. About the “wet grips”, I wear Taylormade winter gloves and wet them and it’s better than leather gloves and being dry. • @MidlifeSlices
    @MidlifeSlices Před 11 měsíci +1

    On the bunker topic, practice swings should be allowed in the sand because every bunker seems to have different sand conditions in them even on the same course from hole to hole. It would be great to get a feel for how your club will react to the sand. Also you can rake it so it’s better than replacing or filling a divot in the fairway. I don’t see a reason why this rule still exists.

  • @JaimeVasquezBigData

    2. Preferred adjacent lie - from a shot in a divot (dumbest rule in golf?)

    don't have a problem with the lie change in the bunker as the situation shouldn't exist in any reputable tournament.
    what bothers me more, and i might be wrong on this, why are the leaders of PGA events on Sunday playing with the most risk of landing in an unfilled divot? why can't we define a divot similar to an embedded lie, say a quarter to half the ball is in a manmade depression? I am not 100% on whether caddies/course maintenance fill divots DURING play, so I may be wrong on this.

      Interesting question. I wonder if they're out there filling divots between groups. They certainly are between rounds (as I recently witnessed at the LPGA Canadian Open).

    You hit it there, play it.... as geerock said below, when it hits a tree and keeps it from going OB no one ever complains..... so many would never cheat or bend the rules in other sports or games but in golf its a different story. Heaven forbid you call them on it. An honest mistake is one thing, however, you start taking liberties when it comes to rules you're playing a different game not the one called Golf.

      What about rules that differ based on location and sanctioning body? Which one is the one called Golf?

    • @NotAScratchGolfer
      @NotAScratchGolfer  Před 11 měsíci

      Golfers are indeed sticklers, but IMHO moving a ball out of a footprint in a bunker is not a slippery slope to "cheating."

    • @2hiroshima
      @2hiroshima Před 11 měsíci

      Of course location, body, league, association, and even course can adjust rules as required, the rules of golf allow for this. A non question.@@jemiller226

    I vote 100% in favor of your relief. I have always been a "play it straight up guy", but like you said, that's just bullshit. It's kind of like when you miss a drive 5 yards off the fairway and you can't find it and there's people behind you, but you know you'd find it if you spent 3 whole minutes actually looking for it in a tournament with people helping you.

    You should never have to suffer from another persons laziness .. I’ve played a round were every other hole the group in front wouldn’t replace the flag in the pin … like wtf

    Divots with no sand, nope. Footprint in the sand, nope. Golf is fun, and to steal your tag line, I’m not a scratch golfer.

    Maybe I'm a stickler but I believe that you play the course how you find it. You're in a bunker... It's meant to be a hazard and punish you for hitting in there... you don't get to treat yourself to a nice lie. I hear similar arguments from people who pull their ball out of divots, away from tree roots, fluff their lies, etc.... Nobody ever complains that their ball that was headed straight OB kicks off a tree back into the fairway. The game is played outdoors and we have to take the bad breaks with the good. Rub of the green and whatnot.

      Meh, bunkers are supposed to be raked. A footprint isn’t a bad break it’s someone else’s laziness affecting your round.
      You should play out of a divot but the rule isn’t long for this world and rightly so, it isn’t really supposed to be there.
      Tree roots *are* part of the game and sure, you can’t fluff your lie.

      I’m fine with however people play during non-competitive rounds. In competitive rounds, I’m fine with however the rules are as long as they’re universally applied.
      That said, it’s weird to get punished for hitting the fairway and odd that you can purposely leave footprints and divots to impair players playing after you.

    • @ikigai47
      @ikigai47 Před 11 měsíci +1

      Yeah you're definitely a stickler. This is a casual round, and even if it were a tournament, there'd have never been a ghetto footprint in a bunker to hit out of. Divots yes, those can be in a tournament and they have nothing to do with someone having crap manners

    • @josephwirtz8352
      @josephwirtz8352 Před 11 měsíci

      I would check local rules, you might be allowed to rake, clean and place.

    • @mikelynch896
      @mikelynch896 Před 11 měsíci +1

      Everyone’s group should play whatever way they all agree too. I’m fine with raking and placing if your in a footprint. If it’s just an inconsistent rake job I’ll play it as it lies. As far as divots I play it as it lies even though I think the rule should change if your in the fairway. Tree roots we will move it but not improve line to the hole. We are all in our late 50s and don’t need to break a wrist in a non competitive round. If playing in a tournament play it as it lies !
