This is probably one of my favorite turntablism performances, I keep coming back to it. '02 was really the end of an era. I'm not anti digital but I am anti bullshit and some of these dudes get too comfy with the software. Vinyl is all manual, shit can fall apart very easily and it takes that much more practice and skill to do routines like this on wax. Truthfully this set would be dope on anything, wax, CDJ, laptop, but I don't really hear crazy shit like this being done nowadays.... Maybe its just cause I'm a true and stubborn Hip-Hop head and turntablism has ventured more into an EDM/trap territory.... Double time 808 based beats were always a part of the craft, especially with the west coast Electro beats, idk...
Agreed. Djing has progressed but turntabilism peaked way back. There are some great new routines but I don't think the skill level and dexterity of this sort of perfomance has been matched in the moden era.
Damn! That was hot shit! I lived in LA's K-town around that time. This show was right up the street from me. I wish I would've known about this. Dude killed it
Funkateer is right in some ways. Turntablism certainly isn't dead, it's actually more glamorized these days). I never expected the art form to take the turn that it did. The digital era really changed everything. A lot of what turntablism was built on was that you had to be creative with pre-recorded music(vinyl records). Now days, I feel like a lot of the creativity is lost because DJs can just simply put what ever they want on serato and skratch it. It's a lot of flash and flare now.
Well I have seen him countless times and every set he is still cutting, scratching, and juggling. He did a sick scratch set for scratch nerds 2 by dj craze. I am just saying he is a dam good dj.
Hi whats up? I had to take a minute to show you respect on your video. I dont usually expend a lot of time on youtube but its always a dope matter when you bump across nice content. Ive been working to build up my vids recently so ive been using more time to associate with folk and hope i can get the same love! Much appreciated!
Atrak was & is lightyears ahead of his time , so much intricate stuff in these routines
Havnt seen this in a while..still blown away 11 years later from it....

he still juggles at every show I have seen him at. it just doesn't look as impressive with a pioneer cdj setup.
he only does that when he's putting on a Duck Sauce show. Well so ive read on his FB page lol
Well I have seen him countless times and every set he is still cutting, scratching, and juggling. He did a sick scratch set for scratch nerds 2 by dj craze. I am just saying he is a dam good dj.
When i see this i just can't rate the modern 'button pusher' d's.
The red record at 9:40 has a Kool Keith / Dr. Octagon rif.....anyone know what that record is?
Could be wrong but it might be either one of his own battle records on ammo, or craze's.
